I'm seriously amazed at all the differences!! I hate having to get jugs of milk in the states. They are so hard to pour! I can't even start on the tea kettle. Everyone has one!
How is it hard to pour milk out of a jug? With your milk pitchers, does the bag not slide and flop around as you're pouring and how do you seal the milk up again so it doesn't get fridge taste?
I boil water in the microwave (and usually end up boiling it over, I've made water explode. It happens! But my microwave broke and I'm too lazy to get another one, so on the stove it is! I also don't drink tea but if I did, I'd boil it on the stove.
Also, I own a dish wand. I LOVE it. I'd prefer a dishwasher but this is second best.
It takes 10 minutes to boil water on the stove. It takes 2 minutes to heat it in the microwave. I don't understand the confusion. Although now I have a Kuerig, so I hit a button and have hot water in 10 seconds.
I am from BC Canada and I have heard of some of these but not all.
No kettles? (I agree with janiejones, tea pots are for steeping your tea.) DH and I drink tea daily sometimes multiple times a day.
One thing that no one has mentioned is the difference in iced tea and sweet tea. Here we say iced tea for the sweet tea drink. Most of us do not drink "iced tea" (real tea cooled down) the way you do in the states. Imagine my surprise when I ordered iced tea at a restaurant last month in the states and i took a drink and it was "iced tea". (I say most of us because my grandma makes American iced tea all the time, I do not like it)
This! Gets me everytime I'm in the US. I also agree with everyone else about the clearly missing poutine!

I have had the opposite experience while in Texas. I ordered an iced tea, expecting to get plain, cold tea. I got something that tasted like it came out of a hummingbird feeder instead.

Yeah this confirms what I have always believed: Detroit is basically just the south side of Ontario. I didn't know that there was an American Sesame Street until I was about 17. (Who else remembers singing, "I can walk a kilometer, it's a long way, it's a long way!")
Although I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I didn't know MuchMusic was a real thing. I thought How I Met Your Mother made it up, lol.

I've never boiled water in the microwave. I didn't even realize people did this, lol. I don't own a kettle either, though. I just boil water in a pot on the stove.

I grew up in Michigan and live in Minnesota. I agree with others that Canada has leaked down. The Polka Dot door was awesome. So was Today's Special. I say sliver. And tea made with water from the microwave is DISGUSTING. I drink tea daily, and I boil water in a kettle on the stove. My mom has an electric kettle, but I don't want to add to the shit on my counter.
Sweetened condensed milk, white vinegar, and garlic. It's used on donairs (doner kebabs/gyros) in the Maritimes as well as being used as a dipping sauce for garlic fingers.
You call rockets smarties? You don't have actual smarties? Oh my word!
This explains why no one knew what I meant by frozen in my post about the dentist.
What do you guys call a "two four"..a case of beer?
My mind is blown you guys.
I didn't read all the responses so perhaps this has been said.. We do have your type of Smarties in some places. I know this because I thought "Omg, a whole box of SMARTIES?!" and when I opened it I discovered that I didn't actually get Smarties, but some weird M&M knockoff. Still ate them though.
1. Those garlic fingers look AMAZING! I want them.
2. Milk in a bag is super weird. Yuck
3. It is very easy to boil water in a microwave. You people are scaring me! Here is a quick tutorial: - turn on faucet - place a glass container under the running water (pyrex measuing cups or mugs work great) - fill the container leaving some room at the top - place container in the microwave - close the door - set the timer (about 2 minutes for 8-10 oz of water) - press the power button and wait until you hear "beep beep" or "ding" - the water is boiled!

I watched Today's Special as a kid. However, I watched a ton of Canadian television like Ready or Not, Kriss Kross, Degrassi Junior High, Flash Forward etc.
I have never boiled water in the microwave, and we have a kettle.
I would, however, love to taste some poutine. I can get behind that, I think.
are you talking about the restaurant Swiss Chalet? I grew up in the Rochester area and we used to eat there! I'm not sure if it still exists though. There are tons of Tim Hortons up there and everyone drinks Moulson Ice and Labatts. LOL I also grew up calling soda "pop." It's like we're half canadian up there!
The boiling water thing FOR TEA is pissing me off way more than it should be. IT ISN'T RIGHT if you don't get a nice boil going in a kettle. A KETTLE. You all must drink really shitty tea.
