someone had this in their siggy a while back and it made me snort coffee through my nose
HAHA! This made me laugh out loud just now! DH looked over and was like, what? what? And I was like, you won't get it, and I showed it to him anyways because he asked and he said, "Oh. Huh. Well, it seems funny." Lol love ya, DH.
The creamery we ship our milk to supplies the cheese for 2 of the main pizza joints listed above. I'm sure the nest would ream me for being indirectly involved in some sort of corporate scheme that will cause the downfall of the world.
So do you know how their supply chain works? Does your milk go into cheese only for pizza in the midwest or does it get shipped everywhere and every time I'm eating pizza I'm having a couple minute molecules from Dairy's farm!? Squeakers!
[Yes, I know farmers IRL You'd think I don't the way I get all excited about your industry every time it comes up lol. But they're cotton farmers and I don't have any clue where it goes and there's nothing exciting about q-tips or t-shirts anyways.]
On a related note, what about the cheese and milk in my grocery store? Is that a little bitty piece of Dairy or is that from somewhere nearer?

For one chain it's all over the US. For the other just the midwest division (It apparently has something to do with how the stores themselves are franchised out). They also do the cheese for Burger King. (Mind you I hate BK with a burning passion personally, but it's a fun fact!).
Your store cheese is probably not from my creamery. They only do WI, MN, SD and Idaho (the states where they have plants). Their niche market isn't really the retail cheese division, so what they do have is speciality stuff they sell in their own store or the basic shredded cheddar variety stuff.
Their claim to fame is actually whey protein for athletes. So any of those supplements are from my cows. They also ship whey protein to Asia, so some kid in China is currently downing a whey protein drink for dinner tonight courtesy of me!

I read this and thought you were about to give her the third degree about selling milk to commercial producers. LOL
FTR, I know a couple farmers who produce potatoes for Lays (this guy: www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Mhfs4S4Hods ) and I *still* get all squee about it every time I eat chips. So yeah, I'm with you on that. Now I can be squee when I eat chain pizza, too!

LOL girls! MrsJ..that's awesome you know a Lay's guy! That's awesome. And THR she always asks the BEST questions about dairy farming. It's fun. Much better than the "Do brown cows make chocolate milk?" sort of questions I usually get. Ha.
And yeah, unless you're selling your milk to like an organic farmer's cooperative or doing something completely illegal..it's all 3rd party. My barn to the creamery and then they all do as they see fit. Some are into processed stuff, some are into ice cream, some are into fluid milk, some dabble in a little bit of everything. It just depends.
Mine: I like old fashioned copper-bottomed RevereWare....
Your turn. What nest trashy things do you like?
My H will still bring up how disappointed he is that his aunt gave away his grandmothers Revereware after she died a few years ago. We already have a couple pots, but he loves it!
Is is nest trashy to eat in front of the tv? because we do that. often.
I registered for (and received) a Kitchen Aid stand mixer as a wedding gift. Everyone had to have one back then (married in 2008).
The mixer is fine, it's not like it doesn't work well. But it's huge and bulky. It wasn't a problem to find cabinet space for it when I had a huge kitchen, but then we moved. Now it's just packed away in a box in my basement because I have no space for it anymore. I've been using my little Black & Decker hand mixer that I got in 1997, and it's awesome.
I'm considering getting rid of the Kitchen Aid mixer. It takes up so much space, and isn't that much more awesome than my hand mixer.
I lost my KA in a flood- it was on the second floor. I haven't missed it. My Cuisinart does most of the stuff as well or better.
Nothing makes a cake with a crumb as fine and lovely as a kitchen aid. I couldn't bake without it. The food processor i find to just be too much of a PITA to clean to be worth the service in the kitchen.
i prefer box cake mixes over (most) homemade. in this theme, our wedding cake lady indulged us and made a funfetti cake. it was amazing.
i'm finding that i don't love most of my pampered chef items. is that nest trashy? it seems real life trashy since my friends are obsessed with PC parties.
we ate frozen pizza for supper twice this week. i prefer papa john's, but $3 no name pizza wins solely on price.

sometimes I don't feel like I even live in the same GBCN world. I have never heard anyone talk about PC irl. In fact, earlier this week 3 other coworkers and I were talking about how we prepare veggies and we all admitted that none of us even has a steamer basket (we all either microwave or just boil frozen veg).

Me too! This was one of the flavors of SIL's [homemade] wedding cupcakes, at my insistence. I guarantee you can't tell the difference in a blind taste test between it and something from a bakery or homemade. A sweet little old receptionist brought it to work one day and I begged her for the recipe and she told me she had a confession and told me it was this! It really is that good! Esp if you put homemade cream cheese icing on it like we did (canned is WAY too sweet for me).
I love Domino's. I like Papa John's but I'm boycotting them now because their CEO is such a jerk. I also love Cici's, especially their mac and cheese pizza.
I also make cake from a box and eat spaghetti sauce from a jar. I don't love Walmart but I shopped there weekly when I lived in a small town without many options, and still shop there occasionally.
I don't know if this is a trashy Nest confession or not, but I never really understood why everyone got so obsessed with decor for every holiday--shamrocks everywhere, pumpkins everywhere, hearts everywhere, bunnies and eggs, etc. I mean, I love decorating for Christmas, but I felt like there was so much money wasted on cheesy holiday decor. And, not to mention a waste of money, what about where the F are we storing all of this stuff? I'd rather do with less clutter!

I don't buy from either company. The Domino's CEO donates to anti-evolution Creationist organizations that try to get evolution out of the biology classrooms.

omg. why have i never had this?? i didn't realize there was boxed carrot cake mix.
my parents are coming up from the states in two weeks. i'll add this to my order!

i don't own a steamer basket either!
really, i either eat raw veggies or i stirfry or bake them in something. i think because we both grew up on canned or frozen vegetables as a side we've revolted in adulthood and refuse to eat them that way.

It has actual shredded carrots and raisins in a little pouch that you soak in warm water for a few minutes. Really good! But it has to be this "decadent" version - there's a regular version that's just a normal ol' cake mix that's not the same.

Huh, I had no idea. You learn something new every day!

I have to agree with this. My husband bought me one for my birthday (back in FEBRUARY) and I have yet to use it. It's packed away since I don't have room for it. He was so excited to get it for me (on sale) and I feel so bad that I hate dragging it out to use it - so I haven't used it!!!!

I like my KA, but it is not ergonomically designed if you actually need to move it. Everytime I use it I consider writing to KA with my suggestions for improvement.
Confessions: I do not find my kitchen aid heavy at all. I also can't believe this is a nest thing. Out here in farm country, everyone has one. I didn't know it was a "thing" until the interweb.
I have no idea which CEO or corporations supports what cause. Mainly becuase I just don't care that much. I wish I did, but I don't. Everyone has an opinion and I'm okay with that.
I have a KA. I didn't register for it, but my mom knows I love to cook/bake and got me one for our wedding. It is heavy, but I lug it 2.5 feet from the closet when I want to use it. NBD. I don't use it everyday, but when I do it's awesome. I also didn't know it was an internet thing until people were all goo-goo ga-ga over having one on TN.
is liking valances bad? Not floofy ones, but something more tailored or pelmets I really like a lot. They're like well-groomed eyebrows for your windows. Which is a good thing, obviously. Who doesn't want nice eyebrows?

I am the family cake maker. I lie and say my cake is homemade. I use box mix. I add extra eggs, melted butter instead of oil, and vanilla. They all would give me side eye for using non organic flour in the cake, let alone whatever chemicals are added to box cake.
