Okay, so last month I posted about my abnormal bleeding and updated everyone that I went on a bcp to try to regulate my cycles and to help get my hormones in check. When I had my vaginal ultrasound, my uterine lining was abnormally thick. They said that the thick lining and my abnormal bleeding were signs of uterine cancer, but that is rare(but can still happen) for someone my age. I was supposed to have a follow up vaginal ultrasound in 8 weeks. My doctor told me to call her if I started bleeding again.
I've been bleeding again for around 2 weeks now. They didn't start to get heavy like the were originally until around the beginning/middle of last week. I called my doctor on either Thursday or Friday and she wasn't in, so I left a message for her. Some random chick that does not know my medical history including my irregular periods calls me back and tells me that since I started a new bcp(where I'm supposed to get my period every 3 months), she thinks that my body thinks that it is time for it to a have a period. No. My body does not think that. I have never had a regular period AND if it is around this time of the month, that is because it is continuing. I am also having pain and cramp-like symptoms as well. I am also filling up a superplus tampon in less than 3 hours(at least today. I tried to change it every 2 hours yesterday at work). I was told that I just have to wait it out and wait for another 4 weeks to have my other vaginal ultrasound done. When I have the next vaginal ultrasound, if my lining is still abnormally thick, they will be checking for cancer. But what the hell am I supposed to do in the meantime? Invest in a tampon/pad stock or something? I can't take any OTC pain meds to help with the pain and pressure because they are all blood thinners and it makes the abnormal bleeding worse.
Obviously that doctor doesn't seem worried, but I am. I just don't know what to do. I'm tired of bleeding. I'm tired of the pain and pressure I am feeling. I'm tired of getting cramps in my arms and legs. I'm exhausted all the time. But apparently there is nothing anyone can do to help me right now.
What would you do in my situation? I'm seriously worried that I have cancer.

Call back first thing Monday and insist on an ultrasound appt this week, that this is the plan you had in place with your dr (who will hopefully be back Monday). I'd also ask to speak specifically to your dr's triage nurse vs the nurse line.
Hang in there. Hopefully this is something easily remedied.
Call again first thing in the morning and hope you get your regular doctor. I'm so sorry you're going through this.
That is what I was planning on. I had to call out of work today because it was super bad and my manager is finally back from his vacation. Hopefully my regular doctor will be more of a help than the girl I talked to.
I had an endometrial biopsy done a few years back, it was a pretty simple procedure, can you request one, since they were the ones to mention cancer
They wanted to wait until after the second vaginal ultrasound. They were hoping that it was just my hormones were out of whack and that the bcp would help and make the lining not as thick. But since I started bleeding again, who knows. I'm going to call again on Monday and talk to my doctor. I'm just in a lot of pain right now and upset(which I'm sure isn't helping) and tired. Does the biopsy hurt at all?

It was a long time ago, I do remember some discomfort, but it will put your mind at ease

No advice, really, but (((hugs))). Insist on speaking to your doctor (the one that TOLD you to call if you started bleeding) and if that still doesn't get you anywhere, second opinion time. After going through a couple of losses (where you're SUPPOSED to bleed), I've always been told to call if it gets to the point of bleeding through a pad in two hours. Sounds like you've been at that point for awhile, now. You're not unreasonable to want some answers. (((more hugs)))
I'm sorry, that can't be any fun. I would definitely call first thing tomorrow and express your frustration and concern. You need to talk to YOUR doctor, and ASAP not some random chick. The amount of time it takes you to soak through a super plus tampon is not normal and you are missing time at work because you are so uncomfortable. If they want you to wait another 4 weeks for the ultrasound, they need to see if they can give you something for the pain and check your iron levels but I would be pressuring them as to what difference the remaining 4 weeks would make. Best of luck
No! Dude if they mentioned the C word you cannot wait for these things. Is this an oncologist? Can you just go to one? Do you need a referral?
They feel like they can wait because uterine cancer usually only occurs in women over 40. I don't know if I can just go to an oncologist. I'll have to call and double check to see if I need a referral.

Well IMo they never should have mentioned cancer! The gyn did my biopsy, no oncologist needed until you get an actual cancer diagnosis. I would totally push them for the biopsy, what's the point of another ultrasound?
Keep calling until you get your regular doctor on the phone. This other doctor clearly isn't paying enough attention to the notes in your file, because your doctor would not have told you to call if all they were going to say is that it isn't a big deal.

Call again on Monday and ask specifically to speak with your doctor or ask the nurse who returns your call to consult with your doctor/make an appointment with your doctor. I'm sorry you are scared. I hope you get answers soon.

They were going to do another ultrasound to see if my lining was still thick. They were hoping that the bcp would help my hormones as well and the lining would go down. They should have never mentioned cancer until it was more of a possibility like it is now because now I am freaking out.

I am sure it is nothing, please try to enjoy the rest of your weekend. remember, don't worry until you have something to worry about
Are you on seasonalle? That's what I'm on. It's been a word gust men over the last 6 months. But honesty nothing like what you are describing, so I think you're instincts are correct here, I'm not saying cancer, but certainly abnormally thick uterine lining. Hopefully it's just tat and a scrape out will set you suck on track.
Thank god for autocorrect... I'm afternoon. Drunk at 2:30.
I'm on the generic of it. I'm just worried because this is the second time in two months that I am bleeding like this. The second one might be because of the bcp, but I still don't know what caused it the first time.
2 calm down. Having a thick uterine wall lining is pretty common and very rarely cancer even in older women. Lots of women need ablations to fix this.
I'm also worried about the abnormal bleeding with it. Two times in two months? That seems like a lot of abnormal bleeding. Also, I have anxiety so that isn't helping the situation.

If you started a hormone birth control then that can cause bleeding, it may be a lot because you have the thick lining. It has to thin somehow.
i would make an appt with your dr to address your concerns. Try not to worry and good luck!

I am sorry if I missed this but do you have endo or PCOS. I know you mentioned irregular cycles. I just ask because I have PCOS and I don't ovulate so I basically never get a period but the lining still builds up but doesn't shed so it is always really thick if I am not on the pill.
And I agree w/ all the posts - call back and insist. Don't feel weird about it. It sucks you need to do that, but they do need to do further testing. Talk to the regular doctor again.
I hope you get some answers, and I hope they're not so scary.
I wouldn't stop calling until I spoke with MY doctor, not just a doctor. The doctor who said to call if your bleeding started again. Your symptoms more than qualify for a good deal of attention. Start getting noisy and demanding. And don't put up with being put off.

Not that I know of. Those have never been brought up before. I also never started seeing a GYN until about 6 months or a year after I moved out(so around age 20ish). My doctor did mention that sometimes when you don't release an egg, it can cause bleeding like that and that I might have a hard time getting pregnant, but was all she said about in regards to that. I guess I should be asking about those also?

I'm sorry!
1. Your dr's a dick for mentioning cancer if she wasn't really worried about it 2. I would call tomorrow and demand to be seen and tell them you aren't waiting for another u/s. If its still thick tell them you want a biopsy for peace of mind. 3. If you don't like the answer tomorrow(if they say wait to be seen, whatever) call a new gyn and tell them you need a second opinion. I would also ask for them to check your iron levels.
Your dr opened this box of most likely needless worry and now it's their job to ease your mind.
I did have a similar issue when they gave me the ring after I had my son. The bleeding would not stop and I ended up anemic(my pcp checked when I told her what was going on). I kept getting the run around so I found a new doctor who threw away the ring and put in an IUD to stop the bleeding the same day.
