How does that work? Do you walk around and fill up your own basket or give them a shopping list and they get it for you? Do you pay extra for delivery? Big city life is so intriguing to me!

They actually just started a personal shopping thing, but I've never used it. It has a $150 minimum, which is more than I usually spend
I walk around, fill up my basket, check out and ask them for delivery. They charge $4.95 for any amount of groceries. It's really convenient.

If you don't use the delivery, how do you get lots of groceries home? I bet cabbing it with a baby and groceries would be super annoying. Well worth the $5 fee.
Around here you can order online and pick up curbside, for a small fee, I need to start doing this. I could if I was more organized.

This is way more advanced then it used to be.
When I was growing up we would pay for our groceries and then at checkout pay $2.50 for delivery. A bag boy would then follow us home pushing our cart of groceries and then help us put them in the elevator. It was convenient but soooo awkward!

I don't usually do delivery, so I usually need to go to the store every three days or so. If you're purchasing groceries for the whole week, you pretty much have to do delivery, yeah.
We've only got one WF west of Toronto and it just happens to be here in the city I work in. I have a love/hate relationship with this hot and salad bars.

Some days, I would consider paying someone $5 to take my groceries from my trunk into the kitchen (house is about 15 feet from the car and up 5 steps). But I would pay $10 for someone to get the sleeping child out of his car seat and into his bed without waking him up.

I would pay $100 for someone to get my kid to sleep in his carseat.

I haven't gotten groceries delivered from Whole Foods, but I have from Trader Joes a few times. They give you a delivery window a few hours after you shop. Normally I just lug as much as I can in my arms with C in a carrier.
I used to use Fresh Direct (online grocery store here, like Peapod, where you shop online and pick a delivery time), but they fucked up my last few orders pretty terribly, so now they're dead to me. The worst was when they forgot to deliver one box with half my Thanksgiving dinner order on the Wednesday night before, so I had to brave the grocery store madness.
Random note: We almost got our Christmas tree delivered from Whole Foods but instead negotiated a better price from our corner deli and carried it home ourselves with C strapped on to DH.

Man, this is a skill I need to learn. How fun would that be, getting snuggly babies from the car to the bed, for money!?

I do the online ordering at Harris Teeter and LOVE it. I tend to do the order in the morning when the kids are happily playing and pick up in the afternoon - they require giving them at least 4 hours to do the pick up. It makes me create a meal plan for the week and stick to a better list rather than wandering the aisles and picking up random crap just because it's there.

Ugh, freshdirect used to be the BEST. They really suck now. They deliver gross veggies that they promise would be fresh and great, forget things, and the delivery guys seem to expect a tip, which they never did before
And, I've discovered that in this crazy city, Whole Foods is one of the cheapest places to shop, especially for basics like pasta and canned stuff (if you buy their brand)
What if you buy frozen food? Where do the groceries sit between checkout and when they get delivered?
I have no idea, but they always arrive frozen. I've had some slightly soft ice cream, but nothing terrible.
rjamz, my family doesn't believe me about Whole Foods being reasonably priced here. It's cheaper than the nasty Grosstedes across from my old apartment that could not wrap their minds around the importance of unexpired foods or fly-free deli displays.

Lol! Gristedes is the worst! I always feel like I've been robbed when I go there

Ugh yes and I've come home to discover the produce was moldy too so I am just done with there. Food Emporium wasn't the best, but I'm kind of screwed since they closed. Now it's either TJ's or Fairway. Fairway is a zoo and TJ's is too specialized.

And fairway has gotten so expensive since they went public!
