WHAT?!?!!? I wish I didn't like them. It's actually the only thing I like at Sonic. I go there about once a week and just order a large diet cherry limeade. I feel like such a chump but I can't help myself!
Reading about all the women on the prepare for the worst post that are dependent on their husbands financially makes me sad. I get an uneasy feeling when people (especially women) are dependent on others financially.
This is why we have a post-nuptial agreement. Given the size of our family, it would cost us significantly more to pay someone to care for our children, especially when you consider I make a decent amount WAH at various times of the year, if I went to work full-time. The arrangement we have now is the most economically efficient, which benefits all of us.
Can I use wet wipes? Is that considered bathing? I just can't imagine how horrendously miserable I would feel on a daily basis.
I am pretty sure I would exchange a year of my life at the end of life for $1M, but to "lose" a year of my twenties because I would be too self conscious to see anyone/be intimate with FI/leave my apartment- I really don't think so!
Update for y4m: McCann was fined. But he didn't miss any play. So still bullshit, just less so. They're still at the top of my shit list, but fear not, I am cheering for the Pirates to prevail from the NL Central. Yarrrr!
I have now had almost 48 hours to think about it and I still say that I would go a year without showering for $1,000,000.
Eh, if you swim, I don't think that's all that flameful. You'd be SO MUCH less stinky than most people. After you posted that, it started moving toward the top of my list. I figure I could just slather myself in Cetaphil cream afterwards to deal with the dryness, but if I'm getting into highly chlorinated water 5 to 6 times, I just wouldn't be that dirty, right?

The Pirates are so losing to the reds in the wildcard game.

In all seriousness though, how bout that NL Central? Thanks to you guys and the Cubs for allowing yourself to be beat up so all the rest of us could ascend to postseason greatness.
I keep seeing military folks complaining about the shutdown, and it impacting their pay. (active duty folks who all know that even if there is a shutdown, they will get paid eventually, just not on time)
It confuses me. This isn't the first shutdown in recent history that has impacted military pay. It's not like we haven't seen this before. Keeping a bit of money in savings should have been a lesson from the last shutdown...
Heck, there are several banks/lenders that are offering various forms of relief for servicemembers, up to, and including one bank that has said they will just keep depositing the regular direct deposit into servicemembers accounts during the shutdown. (Our bank is offering 0% loans for the duration of the shutdown.) So, at this point, I don't have a whole lot of sympathy for folks that are freaking out over it.
(I am not talking about those who will be impacted by a shutdown with actual loss of income, instead of simply a delay of income, those are two different situations, and actual loss of income is worth getting pissed off about)
I find this incredibly flameful. You're saying you wouldn't be upset if you were told you weren't going to get paid for an undetermined amount of time? You should have planned for it? Not everyone qualifies for a loan at 0%. A lot of military families are one income with children, so its a major freaking inconvenience to be going to work every day and not get paid. I find it to be even worse because of what they do for our country. Voluntarily.

This season was just so sad. The shitshow of injuries did not help. I mean, Juan Francisco playing first base?! He's terrible. We have to get that shored up in the off-season. We didn't really miss Prince Fielder at the position while Corey Hart was healthy.
I was bummed that I wasn't there to take advantage of the $10 giveaways in August, though. So awesome of Brewers' ownership!

If this was my bet, things like regular swimming and wet wipes would be verboten. They make the bet too easy.

Whoa. I think I'd have a harder time giving up swimming than giving up showering. Some people do yoga, and some people run. I swim. It is better than Prozac for me. Plus, my foot is a jerk (you may have gathered from a PIP or two, haha!), so it's the best thing I can do.

But A MILLION DOLLARS!!!!!
There has to be some major sacrifice involved for it to be worth it to the person paying out at the end of the year, right?

I have all the books I could need, and what more could I need than books? I shall only engage in commerce if books are the coin. -- Catherynne M. Valente
FB friend's status: I need a tire for my car like now... I'm supposed to leave for camping tomorrow and I don't want my child in my car while its on a donut anyways... I need help
Is she looking for money?
These types of posts drive me crazy too! However, DH would take this opportunity to gather all the specs on her car and then suggest the best tire for her needs and budget. He's a total geek with car stuff and is the resident go-to car info guy in our circle. Maybe she just needs help deciding what to get?
The flameful part of this - it drives me crazy that he researches car crap so much. I never have to worry about my vehicle going without maintenance which is awesome, but geez. Can you really not read so many car things?

Um... DH is an active duty service member. Our household income will be directly impacted by the shutdown. This will not be the first time his pay is impacted by a government shutdown. At least he will receive pay retroactively once a resolution is found. There are many folks who will be much more heavily impacted than us - the civilian workers who are unexcepted, for example...
It's not like we haven't seen this coming. Nor is this the first time it's happening. And many companies are offering us (and other service-connected families) a break if a shutdown occurs. Frankly, we should be annoyed, frustrated, sure, but not freaking out like the world is ending... And, as mentioned, we aren't the ones being hardest hit by this.

If I remember correctly, don't you have a pretty good income yourself though? And an employer that allows you to work from wherever your husband happens to be stationed?
I'm really glad we spent enough on wedding photos that they don't look like crap (i.e. it wasn't my drunk uncle taking pictures) but didn't that much which left more money for booze. We've been married 3 years and I still haven't printed a single photo.
I might have you beat. Our nine year anniversary is next week and we have yet to make an album.
It'll be my tenth in March. I'm determined to do it before then...
My flameful: I had my BMs get $265 dresses that I picked and asked them to get them fairly soon after choosing even though the wedding was quite a bit away. In theory they had plenty of time. On the other hand, two our of three were kind of dick/irresponsible BMs anyway so I don't feel as bad. It was the one thing I knowingly was a dick about. The only thing I would change is getting them quickly. Maybe.
I still love them, but I find my cats 100 times more annoying since the birth of my child. Particularly as one decided to make a decorative basket a litter box this week.

I appreciate what you are saying. A lot of my co-workers have both spouses employed by the feds. They won't get back pay. They won't get breaks on anything.
And I will go farther to say that I don't understand why a military member who is NOT in combat deserves back pay anymore than I do (although to be fair I think we should all get back pay).
Page 5. I know you hate Mommy stuff, but I have to say that I roll my eyes a little bit everytime people have hurt feelings about not having the birth they wanted (and still ending up with a healthy full term baby) The more I read about the things people have to go through that are true hardships during delivery including losses, the more annoyed I get at someone that is crying over a caection. Or not getting to hold their babies within the first 2 minutes of birth. I had a csection because my babys heart rate was falling. At that point, they could have taken the baby out of my nose and put me in a coma for a week and I still would have been happy with a healthy Mommy and baby.
I know some people have had true bad deliveries and complications. They can rant away.
eh people process things differently. I don't get why it bothers anyone if others have different emotions than they do.
I think I am going to sign up for match.com this weekend. I'm excited and freaked out. It was really nice to have a crush on and spend time with a nice boy. I want to meet one who lives in my country and doesn't live with his parents
Not sure if that's flameful or a confession or just boring. I thought I'd wait longer before dating but I guess it's been almost 8 months since I decided to get divorced so... I still feel like there are probably things I need to work on before I'm ready for a "real" relationship but casual dating might be ok. Let's hope.
Yay!
Just go with what you're comfortable with.
I told myself I didn't want a boyfriend and was really resigned with the idea of being single for a looooong time. But I met N when I wasn't looking and couldn't deny my feelings after a few months, so I went with it.
I am glad that I casually dated/hooked up with other guys before N, but now that I'm in another relationship a little over a year since I decided I wanted to get separated, I have no regrets about jumping back in to things.
You're an inspiration to me- seriously. You're living the exact type of divorced life I would hope for I hope I'm getting there! I did sign up for match and I've been pursuing profiles and even chatted with a couple of people today! We'll see what happens. I'm excited at the prospect of casual dating.
