SO is in the throes of his first semester back in school and is having a rough time getting excited about math. He has an upcoming test and I told him that I am very confident in his abilities since he's the smartest guy I know.
Is your H the smartest guy you know? And do you ever tell him?
apalettepassion.wordpress.com/ WHO IS BONQUIQUI!?!?!?!??!
"I was thinking about getting off on demand, but it sounds like I should be glad that I didn't"
No. He probably is, or is in the upper echelons, but he'd feel weird if I said it and in no way lacks self esteem in that category.
Eta: this post is making me all hormonally in love with my husband. He's so intellectually curious, which I admire more than raw smarts. He reads everything and knows about all sorts of things. No lie, he's reading Plato for kicks right now. I think he's great.

Can't you just say something like you know how smart he is, how hard he's worked, and that he's got this? That would probably come across as more genuine.
Lol, no. I mean I tell him he's really smart, but I don't tell him he's THE smartest. I would totally believe him if he told me I was the smartest woman he knows, though.
My H really is the smartest man I know. He knows this and I know this. I don't really tell him frequently, because it would be like me pointing out that the sky is blue or something. lol.
I tell him he is smart. I tell him that I have faith in him. I tell him that I am confidant he can do something.
But I have not and will not tell him he is the smartest man I know because A) he isn't and B) his ego would make his head too fat and he'd be stuck inside forever. Stuck inside with ME. No.

My H is smart, but he's not even close to the smartest man/person I know.
THAT would be my friend S, who had a PHD in neuropharmacology, a Masters is something similar, and 2 science degrees. He's also extremely well-versed in international and political affairs. If he wasn't gay, I would totally have fallen in love with him
No, lol. He is absolutely the best at what he does - I'd go as far to say that he is easily among the top 5 or 10 in his industry - but definitely not the smartest person I know overall. He's not very well-rounded as far as his skill-set goes, tbh.

I do, because he is, lol. He was valedictorian for his high school and graduated an Ivy League with honors. He says the same to me even though I know it's not true.
