Um last night I saw a tree already up in a house when we were ToTing. It was fake but it was newly decorated. I also noticed that their Christmas lights were up. I doubt they took them down.
My bff put a GIGANTIC tree up in her GIGANTIC foyer. It was such a pain in the ass to assemble that they never bothered to take it down. It's been up for over 10 years. Year round. She decorates it for every holiday.
When there is no holiday she decorates it in A&M ornaments because she's an obsessed Aggie.
I always put my trees and decorations up the week before Thanksgiving so we can actually enjoy them. December is so crazy busy that we aren't home much. Plus, I completely swap out all my decorations for Christmas decor..takes some time!
wtf? no real trees? Who ARE these heathens? It HAS to be alive.
Yes they say it's a fire hazard. The worst part is that I am the Vice President of the HOA and I got outvoted 6 to 1 I nearly cried. I hate fake trees.
What the fucking hell? A fire hazard? So are your curling iron, coffee pot, and toaster!!
I've never had a fake tree before part of the Christmas tradition is picking it out and naming it!
Go to the next meeting and suggest a re-vote with the condition that live trees must have LED lights or no lights, no heat no fire (or at least no more flammable than anything else in a home).
The only risk I can see is if they see you bringing in the tree or removing it. Which is a townhouse complex is highly possible. It would have to be a covert operation. Perhaps a midnight tree run, then pull straight in to the garage.
Then I would also have to keep the president out of my house which is tough since she keeps bringing her baby over to play.
Just tell her it is a really good fake tree
Do they allow menorahs? or candles? I mean clearly those are bigger fire risks!
Or stoves, for that matter! Does your crazy HOA allow stoves? Haven't they heard of kitchen fires?
Team Real Tree here. Also, Team After Thanksgiving.
I kind of miss having real trees. We used to get real ones when I lived with my parents. H and I bought a nice but cheaply-priced 7 foot fake one a few years back, and it's just easier to not have to deal with all the needles falling off with Roxie and what not.
I would like to chop down our own real tree at least once though.
I love Christmas too and will be almost 9 months pregnant at Thanksgiving and I'm still waiting until then to put the tree up. Don't rush the holidays!
I'm in the same boat as you but I'm doing my tree early this year because I know once I hit 37 weeks I'm useless
