2. What do you do for a living? I'm a Special Education Teacher, DH is a Dentist
My mom was a SpEd teacher until recently when she retired. That is TOUGH work. Kudos to you. What ages do you work with (if you don't mind sharing)? My mom worked with HS kids with BED and anger issues.
6th and 8th grade - I work with mild/moderate disabilities - mainly reading and math disabilities

That's impressive, seriously. Thanks for helping those kids; they need someone who cares and someone who wants to help.
4. One thing you want most for Christmas? New gloves and wraps.
5. Any other fun fact/random thought/thing you'd like to share? I only claim to like running because it gives me an excuse to do silly things like wear mustache socks for a mustache run as an adult.
I'm not participating in the gift exchange, but I'd like to become more of a regular around here so I played anyway.

Enfuego, how did I not know about this? I'm a mild/moderate SpEd teacher too. I'm at the high school level (RSP) now, but did 2 years at the middle school level in a self contained class
I didn't know you were a special ed teacher either:) Did you like working in a self contained classroom? My district went to a 100% inclusion model so we only have one self contained unit for students with MDs.
Gummi, I didn't know you were a technical writer! I worked as a technical writer for 9.5 years before switching jobs last February. I have my undergraduate degree in technical writing and communications.

5. Any other fun fact/random thought/thing you'd like to share? I think most people know this, but I had 2 knee surgeries (one on each knee) in 2 years. OK that's not a fun fact... for fun... I would love to do what jordylee did and sell everything and travel. However, I am way too chicken to pull the trigger. Every summer DH and I take an international vacation. This year was Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Bali, the Gili Islands (quite possibly the most beautiful place in the world, BTW), and flew through (but did not visit) Sweden and Japan. Last summer we went to Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome. I think we will probably visit India or South America next summer. We want to travel a TON before starting a family.

Last summer we went to Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome. I think we will probably visit India or South America next summer. We want to travel a TON before starting a family.
How long was this trip? We're in the early stages of possibly looking to do this, but we'd replace Paris with (most likely) the Amalfi Coast. How did you split it up?

Not OP, but we basically did this trip for our honeymoon. We were there for 10 days
We flew into Rome and rented an apartment for our entire trip. We bought a eurorail pass and buses in Rome to get around.
Our schedule looked something like this: Rome 2 days, train to Venice, Florence, Pisa-3 days, Rome-3 days, Naples-1 day (we hated Naples and came back to Rome early)
Rome and Florence were my favorite parts of the trip. Venice was very meh for me. Pisa was cool, we did it as a day trip and it was perfect.

This is helpful. I've heard similar things about Venice & Naples, but I feel like we have to at least see Venice, and I was thinking maybe Positano or Amalfi for the coast? I'm not really sure yet. We're looking at this , as well as a few other different trips, but I know we'd both love Rome, and I'd love to explore Florence & then get out into the countryside a bit. Thanks!

NOot OP either, but we did a Venice (3 nights)/Florence (2 night)/ Rome (6 nights) trip a couple of years ago and took the train in between. I wish we'd spent more time in Florence and less in Venice, and you can not have enough time in Rome. Then this summer on our Med cruise we took a day trip up the Amalfi coast, including Positano and Sorrento. We would love to go back and spend more time there, with Sorrento as a base and using the bus to visit the coast towns. Positano and Amalfi were very very small. FYI re: Naples - this is where our ship docked and our driver told us he was getting us out of there as fast as possible. Not very pretty there and I guess a lot of crime.
Now, I've also been to Paris, and to me, no where else compares to Paris.

I was also looking at Sorrento (mainly because I read that Positano & Amalfi are pretty small), but then I was reading that it's a bit of a pain to get to Positano and Amalfi from Sorrento. All three of those are possible places. I guess it might depend on how much time we allocate for that part of the trip.

We did Paris this past May, combined with London.
It might be. Technically, Sorrento is not on the Amalfi coast, but the drive is beautiful, and I do think there is a bus line that runs through all of the towns. You definitely would not want to rent a car, though. Anywhere where there are mirrors so you can see if anything is coming around the one-lane hairpin turn is not somewhere I want to drive!

All I have to say is Capri. Capri. Capri. I liked Sorrento a lot but of the 3 months that I spent in Italy- NOTHING compares to Capri. You can get there with a train/bus/boat combo from Rome or Florence. It's SO worth it.
ETA: Sorry for hijacking your post. I heart Italia!

1. Married/kids/pets?
Married No kids and no immediate plans, though I'd like to have my first in the next 3 or so years. Beta fish!
2. What do you do for a living?
I work on economics and development in a position that requires very frequent travel. My focus is primarily in East Asia, with occasionally jaunts to Latin America. I travel a LOT which makes getting in workouts tough, especially when two whole days are lost to transpacific flights.
Work travel in 2013 included: Bangkok - 5 month stay over last winter Indonesia - 4 times, 10 days each Mexico Chile Peru (twice)
Next week I go to Beijing and the Philippines to round out the year!
3. Fitness activities you enjoy? I'm still in the honeymoon phase with running. I used to hate running outside but have recently come to peace with it and actually enjoy it. I spend a lot of time on treadmills while on travel. I've also been going to Pilates! Love! Dabbling in yoga.
We have a pool in my building and I am trying to swim more. Swimming is hard!
4. One thing you want most for Christmas?
Two watches on my list -- a gold watch (only have silver) for daily wear. And a Garmin! I use my iPhone to track runs.
Little items - have been working on upping my stash of outdoor running gear, especially when it comes to reflective gear and cold weather accessories I am still lacking.
5. Any other fun fact/random thought/thing you'd like to share? My DVR includes - The Voice, Parenthood, HIMYM, Scandal. Love the Food Network. I'm a bad cook but will die trying! To echo others -- I've been running consistently for about a year and am thankful for this board for inspiration and accountability!
Mine did the exact same thing last weekend. I flipped out and told DH it was a race to Best Buy to replace them, loser buys dinner haha.
I've been dropping some very obvious hints, but I don't think he'll get them. BOYS. Sigh.
I'd been wanting Yurbuds for a while but couldn't justify the $20 when I had a perfectly good pair of in-ears from Brookstone. Guess what I bought when the left speaker went out? :-D Sad to hear that the same thing happened to you guys. How long had you had them?
5. Any other fun fact/random thought/thing you'd like to share? H and I are currently visiting every major league ballpark. We have been to 9 so far, and will be going to the 2014 All Star Game!

2. What do you do for a living? NICU nurse/ PNP
3. Fitness activities you enjoy? Running Want to get into power yoga, biking, etc.
4. One thing you want most for Christmas? MOST? A bike. But that wont happen because I need to pick it out myself. I am not really dying for anything this year. I'd like some Tiffany gold ball earrings..
5. Any other fun fact/random thought/thing you'd like to share? I'd move my family to Europe in a heartbeat if given the opportunity and ideal location (i.e. Munich). We have been TTC for almost a year and found out last week that DH's little sister (unmarried) got knocked up. MIL did tell me she was "born to be a grandma," so, congrats to her?
