The hubs and I are doing a 5k on Saturday where we are visiting his family. It is supposed to be in the low 30's at the start.....way too cold for this Florida girl!
It wasn't my best race, but it was still fun! I stood at the finish line with my friend and her 4 year old nephew while waiting for her sister to finish. It was so cute to hear him yelling "Turkey hats!" when we saw people cross the finish line in fun hats.

18 at race start. There was snow overnight, so the side roads were a little slippery, especially going up hill. PR'd the course by more than 2 minutes, but no where near an actual PR.

I almost never run 10ks, so today was only my third 10k in the past 6 years. I was almost guaranteed a PR. It was a tough, hilly course, but I PRed by 4-6 minutes (see, I can't even remember my old previous PR from 2012, which was on a flat course). It was fun! I should run more 10ks!

That was a cold race but really fun. I ran with some turkey hat people most of the way.
Do you know where they are posting official results? I totally forgot to look after grabbing water at the time sheets. But I did do a lot better than my last run.
It was 30 at the start of my race and Mr. GT wore shorts. Bbbbrrrrrr!!
DH's first inclination was to wear just shorts this morning, but when we woke up and it was only 8, he changed his mind and wore pants. Last year's TT was in the upper 20s and he wore shorts. Nutzo!

I actually had a black hat on with a turkey wearing running shoes on it! I got it at the Plymouth race on Sunday. I just checked cool running and it wasn't posted there yet. I am assuming it will be on there! Glad you had a good race! If I see the results I will let you know. I will probably check again tonight. Happy Thanksgiving!

So did my H! And it was half that temp here. He's crazy.
Wow! I asked Mr. Gt if he has ever worn pants in a race and he said he could only think of one time where he wore tights, out of ~ hundreds of winter races.

Nice job!!! I think 10ks are a tough distance to race. Gotta go out fast, but not so fast that you die.
It was cold but fun. Im still not recovered from the marathon. I ran this about 1:15 slower than last year (waiting for official results to be posted, i wasnt waiting around, too cold).
In related news, three young deer bolted across the course, and one took out a runner. They seemed to be ok, which is why i dont feel bad about thinking it was a pretty funny thing to have witnessed.

My H only has once too. He doesn't like it. He says he gets warm fast so it doesn't bother him.

I ran my 5k this morning. This was supposed to be my last shot at a sub-30 minute 5K for 2013. My lungs have not adjusted well to running in California so I didn't get it (I probably wouldn't have anyway) but I am happy with my 32:30ish (don't have my official time yet). It was a fun race.

Thanks! I have to admit, when we got to mile 2, I thought "oh no, we still have 4 more miles, not 1!" I don't really know how to pace myself for 10ks.
Just got back from my 5K. Finished 2nd in my AG (23:20) for the third year in a row...every year I run this race slower, but I still get 2nd. Ha!
DD2 asked me last night if I was going to win a calendar for her (they're always in the prize bag) and I told her probably not. But I did and she was SO HAPPY.
I started my Thanksgiving day with 17,000 of my closest friends. It was 18 degrees with a real feel of 4. That cold must have helped me haul ass because I PR'ed by almost 9 minutes from my time last year, it's also my fastest pace during a race ever! I'm waiting on the official results so I know by how much.
Also I must do better job getting in the right corral, per my Garmin I ran an extra .15 of a mile just running around people.
eta-8:41 pr from the same race last year. Average pace is 1:50/ mile faster than last year!

10ks always make me nervous. Half? No problem, 10k? I'm shaking before the start. I don't know what that's about.
My legs felt pretty good today. Not even close to a PR for me, but I did finish first and won $25 and a pie. At least that covers the cost of the race. It was the first time Mile 1 was my slowest and Mile 3 was my fastest.
Still wish all the miles were faster. But anyway, happy thanksgiving everyone!!!!!!!!!!

That's crazy!
It was nuts! It wasnt a super dense field of runners at that point, everyone else managed to avoid the deer, but it just ran right into a person and knocked them over, the deer didnt even stumble. It was crazy!
