I am currently drinking Chardonnay out of a giant plastic cup from a football game while riding around the west Texas brush in the equivalent of a golf cart. We got in at midnight last night, slept on the usual mattress that I swear to god is at least 50 years old and too short for both of us, and were awoken at 6am by my MIL starting the turkey and otherwise banging around loudly in the kitchen which is the next room over. There were no proper desserts today. And I will be doing Saturday's 9 miles on the shoulder of a highway. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for the aforementioned wine.
I am seriously lacking in Thanksgiving spirit right now.

It's just DH and I visiting ILs this year. We ate our dinner sitting on the couch in front of the TV. My family's always been the "sit down at the table" type for big day so it feels really weird and just like a regular day.

We are at my FIL's house. I love him, but omg he tells the same stories year after year. His house is old and dusty and am scared we are all going to die from poisoning from black mold. Kidding...kind of. I also get a tutorial on how to do laundry and dishes every time we are here. I'm not sure how he thinks he survive at home.
We are eating Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night. There is no food in the house and H is tasked with finding some place that is open, even just Pizza Hut. The only thing to eat here is bologna and baked beans. No thanks.
On the brighter side, the weather has been perfect and we were on the beach three of the last four days.
I have eaten approximately 3 lbs of cheese, 5 pies, & I have gotten shitty on 3 bottles of wine. My two SILs are dragging me out for shopping (which when I'm not drunk, I'm very against on Thanksgiving.)I have 12 miles tomorrow. One nephew is hitting me with a pillow, & the other just cannon balled from the top of the couch into my lap. I'm going to admit to an H&F failure this weekend, but I'm having fun. I wish I was home for my runs, but one SIL mentioned a 6 mile trail run, so that's a start. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
I'm drunk. We are now on the way to the stores. There are an unusual amount of vehicles on the road. My SIL finds it funny, I find it anxiety inducing. I HATE Black Friday shopping. I immediately regret this decision. I have 3 bottles of Bailey's in my purse, & I've been promised coffee. Hold me, H & F!

Coffee + Bailey's. You'll make it! What are you shopping for? I'm about to start buying things online but I'm also starting to sober up. More wine!!

Whatever I feel like. Mostly clothes probably. Lol By shopping, I'm bonding with DH's sisters, so I told him I was going to spend all of our money, gave him a kiss, & left him to drink with his brother. He knows I'm taking one for the team by going to the stores tonight. Luckily I love my SILs.

I brought lots of booze in anticipation of lots of family drama (it's been brewing lately), but it was relatively tame...until the end when my SIL suggested my partner get a double mastectomy. I guess I'll have to double the booze for Christmas since we dodged the family drama this holiday
In other news, Honey Crisp Apple Sangria = Awesome

Have you had the Shocktop seasonal honey crisp beer? It's so good. We found 2 more six packs last weekend and stocked up.
Glad you escaped the drama. I just almost got into a showdown with my college-age SIL about white privilege. It would not have been pretty, for her. DH changed the subject and shut it down though.
You guys, I just had to restrict myself to trying on tops only. I made the mistake of wearing boots. I just tried to take them off to try on a pair of jeans, and I just fell right on over. Maybe I'll just return with a bunch of scarves. Scarves feel safe right now.
ETA. kams, imagine the smoochie face here. I'm on my phone.

I went to a catered dinner. The caterers burnt the stuffing, served canned cranberry sauce, and no biscuits. It was so bad and terribly sad. I want to make a dinner on my own next week to make up for it.
Oh and the only drinks were wine and Coors Light. WTF?!
My IL's have been in town since Tuesday. They are here until Sunday. All they do is yell at each other and watch tv with the volume way up. It's also been a constant stream of telling me that I'm not feeding my son enough and I should be giving him rice cereal so he sleeps though the night. Last night I gave in, gave them the baby, drank half a bottle of wine and went to bed at 7. Slept for 4 hours. It. Was. Glorious.
