Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It really depends on the restaurant and how much I trust them to really wash the lettuce/veggies. Not saying it's logical, but it's what I do.
No. When I asked my doctor how thoroughly to clean my own produce, she was all "just rinse it and make sure all the dirt is off... Some say to avoid sprouts. "
I'm not one to avoid much of anything during pregnancy. I even eat sushi. HOWEVER, when DH's grandma told me her doctor told her to avoid restaurant salad bars while undergoing chemo (due to high incidences of food poisoning from dressings and toppings left at unsafe temps) I put the brakes on salad bars.
A little bit of reading has indicated that listeria can possibly be present in any raw fruit or vegetable. No chance that I'm cutting out all raw fruits and vegetables for the next seven months, since my doctor didn't suggest this.
I don't think sushi is a common source of listeria? My reading has indicated that you're as likely to get sick from sushi as when you're not pg, and my understanding is that salmonella doesn't cross the placenta. (Listeria, on the other hand, does cross the placenta, which is why it is a concern.)
I just wanted to make sure my previous post about sushi wasn't contributing to internet-induced pregnancy fears.

Nope. I do get salad from the salad bar at the cafeteria where I work - at a hospital. They have very strict regulations monitored regularly by the health department, so they're really good at keeping things cold.
