Yes many times. I had a friend who was responsible for filling the audience when I was in college. She would call me when they were short on people and ask me to bring along some friends to fill the seats.

What ones? Let me live vicariously! What one was your favorite?

I don't know that you would have heard of them as they were in the UK. One was The Trisha Show and one was The Vanessa Show. Tacky talk shows along the lines of the Ricky Lake talk show.
My H was in the audience for Jerry Springer when he was a sophomore in high school
So tell me, that shit is made up right?!
Unfortunately (or fortunately?), this was the early 90's, & he's pretty sure it was seriously somewhat legit (thinks later seasons were def made up). However, he said that there was major playing up for the audience by the guests, & the crowd was super encouraged to participate. Nonetheless, it was more real than fake, & I truly think he's had a more cynical worldview since.
Yes, many The ones for sitcoms are common fundraisers for university groups. Some are fun, some are just long. It's amazing what you'll do for easy money and free pizza in college.
Eta: Front row for Leno. Rosie O'Donnell was the guest and she gave me a trip to her R Family Vacations cruise - all expense paid. Lionel Richie was the musical guest.
On Bozo I was selected to throw the ball in the buckets and never made it past the third bucket.
You win this thread! So jealous of the bucket toss; I wanted to do that so bad when I was a kid.
I've only been to a show in Australia. If anybody goes to Melbourne let me know, because I think it would be an awesome 'tourist attraction' for visitors.
If I lived in an area where shows were taped I'd go to them all. the. time.

*shudders*
Is Jerry Springer even on anymore? I used to watch it when I was a kid, and I thought I was a total badass
Yes, many studios ( Sony, Warner, etc.) would pay groups to come and be in the audience for sitcoms and pilots that were taped in front of a live audience.

It would make my maternity leave a hell of a lot more enjoyable, let me tell you!
