About 10 minutes away from my house, and I've had to use it (went into congestive heart failure from pregnancy). I've also gone to the one 5 minutes away from where I work (thankfully, that time it was a false alarm).
We have three within half a mile of our house. I've had to use one once, when DS woke up in the middle of the night with blood pouring out of his face. They got the blood to stop, and he had surgery to remove the blood vessel the next day.
We live an hour from the closest ER. We've never needed it since living here (5+ years). Thankfully we have awesome local doctors who will make house calls or come in after hours as well as a private rescue/ambulance service.

The nearest ER is about 15 minutes from here.
I technically haven't used the ER, but have made an emergency trip to that hospital. Since I was PG at the time and being sent there by my OB, I bypassed the ER and went directly to labor and delivery instead.

10 minutes to the closest one. I used it (for my first ER visit ever) about 2 months ago. There is a much better one about 20 minutes away that we've never used.
Yes - there's one about 10 minutes from my house. I've personally been there for: -meningitis while pregnant (referred via my OB) - emergency appendectomy - ectopic pregnancy/miscarriage - my son was brought there via ambulance after a 5 foot fall off of playground equipment.
And, last but not least, we've been to the emergency room at Children's Hospital in Seattle when my 6 week old (at the time) spiked a crazy high fever and needed a spinal tap, etc.
