I don't think people have to put just your typical sweet, baby-looking stuff in nurseries, and a lot of times I will look outside the baby/nursery section at stores for things. BUT that table is just ugly any way you slice it and does not look good in the room.
This is a good point, too. Even if they had refinished or painted the table perfectly, that style of table does not even kind of match anything else they have in the nursery.

I don't either. I was pointing out that no matter what that design doesn't match what they already have in the nursery.
I totally knew what this post was about before I opened it lol
Dude, I was so jealous of that table when they found it. It was unique, beautiful, had character. She fucking RUINED it, just like she did that lovely vintage wooden babydoll cradle. They need to shut it the fuck down.
@lazerus24, do you think there is any truth to the rumors they will either buy their show house or be inspired to build a new one next year and this is a "placeholder" house?
I disagree, I think that table would have looked great in the nursey without the ugly faux-inlay. I love the lines of it and don't like rooms that "match" too much.

I don't even know how they could begin to justify this to their readers. I mean they have spent so much time selling us on this being their "dream house" and they want to be there for the long run. You could tell quickly with house #2 that it was a placeholder and honestly I think that is when a lot of the GOMI backlash started/amplified.
I do really wish that they would stop with the cheap shit. I am not sure if they can't because this is their brand now or what. Presumably though their readers started as young first time homeowners too and as YHL has grown, had kids, moved, etc. their readers should have as well. They have tried to say that they are going to make different choices (read: less cheap shit) because they want to be here for the long run. I am kind of holding my breath for the kitchen reno, I think that is going to be the real test as to whether they are ready to embrace decent materials.

I think they will do whatever they can for blog content.
I actually really like the way the show house is looking. But it doesn't remind me of their style at all.
I LOVED their first house. Loved it.
And then they started doing all of this weird stuff and it just got out of hand.
It all started with that damn stenciled floor. LOL.

Poor table.
Also, I am grateful today for this thread - I had forgotten what a nutbag Hildy was. She painted a portrait of HERSELF on a wall in someone's home. TLC just kept her on the show to get better ratings, right?
I was actually liking the nursery after they put up the mobile, the curtains even looked less fug. But that table is awful. A Sharpie, seriously? Didn't Sherry go to art school or something?

This is a shitty filler project and it was only staged in the nursery because that's the room du jour. I doubt we'll ever see it again once it's replaced.
I just feel like everything they do is like a failed project from that old design show where you swapped rooms with your neighbor and the insane designers did things like make your living room look like an authentic yurt, only with more fabulous textiles. Remember that show?
They always did shit like this, like stenciling up all the furniture and etc and it always looked on-the-fly and vaguely cheap.

The Crying Pam episode is the one where the homeowner was just devastated by the look. I can't find a video of it anywhere though, boo.
I didn't see the hay episode of Trading Spaces but I knew it jumped the shark when she stapled (STAPLED!) thousands of silk flowers on a bathroom wall. It was the first bathroom they did, IIRC. It was horrifying.

I started to read the post in that blog and the amount of work she put in to that $25 table (that looks bad after she's done) was a bad use of time, energy and crafting supplies. Buy a new, cheaper side table and be done with it.

The best Hildy episode was the one where she used LIQUID NAILS to put cardboard all over the walls. When they took it down, I'm pretty sure it ripped chunks of the wall out and TLC showed that.
