"OH MY GOSH STOP SAYING 'Sooooo....', you keep saying the wrong thing afterwards!" Loves it.
That was one of my big qualms with the movie ... that they in no way acknowledged that these two poor girls would be majorly fucked up after years and years of isolation. Elsa moreso than Anna.

It's a kids movie where there's a talking snow man and Princess that shoots ice out of her hands...And you want realistic?

lol, good point ... but I felt like they sort of were building up to that when Elsa realized that Anna's love as a sister had saved her. I guess they sort of touched on that with the whole, "We're never closing the gates again!" thing at the end.
It's not that I expected a Disney/children's movie to teach these grand life lessons ... I just the story might be a little more "complete" than the one we got. It goes back to the hype surrounding it and my own expectations.
It's not so much that the story is about "love"; it's really more about the fear of not being loved/accepted/"normal." We live in a culture where people's families will turn on them for being "different," where people are told to "hide" what makes them different, and taught that simply being who they are can hurt the people they love the most. Frozen is about confronting those fears--transitioning from winter to summer.
I think the kids love it because it's got awesome, catchy songs; I love it because it packages a rather forward-thinking social commentary in a relatable story.

Huh? She was completely fucked up. She was raised in isolation without relationships so she wanted to be isolated in her ice castle and turned away all relationships, until she had a life changing moment. Anna was always seeking out relationships and getting rejected so she wanted to marry the first person who was nice to her and had no ability to see the inappropriateness of that even when it was pointed out to her by everyone. This was like the first Disney movie that does point out how the characters' bad childhoods might affect their adulthood choices, rather than being beautiful martyrs rescued by handsome princes.

I didn't understand why the song was rerecorded by Demi Lovato but maybe others find it shrill.
Disney often does this. Usually the pop recording is the big hit. See, Christina Agulera (mulan), Elton John (lion king), Vanessa Williams- Pocahontas, etc. But this time they were surprised that the movie version was the big hit.
