There are less "permanent" type ways to dye eggs. Put a packet of koolaid in one cup water and use it to dye the eggs or use shaving cream with food coloring to dye the eggs.
Holy hell. I just got done doing this wight TWO toddlers. Never again. My h and I are going to tag team j tomorrow. There was dye everywhere. Be careful, don't touch, and don't drink it was said a million times.

You were smart with the tarps. I did no such thing. The damage of dye happened in seconds. Also, she wanted to throw the eggs in the cup. Here I was thinking she'd enjoy the dipper. Ugh!
I'm at the house I nanny at (the boys are napping) and I was terrified of ruining something, even though the mom was so insistent about me doing it. I think now that I've been through dying eggs with two at once, having two adults help one toddler will be easy and fun.
We are tomorrow with my mom. She has magical toddler-whispering powers - I don't have the guts to do it on my own. Last year it was a only in a diaper activity and he was more interested in breaking the egg and trying to eat the eggshell than the dye. I forsee my child trying to drink the dye this year.

We are doing it this afternoon after nap (MH is home today so we can double team!) but after reading this, we may do it outside and have her just in an old t shirt of mine that can be ruined. ;-)
