We opted not to with either pregnancy. I have no regrets. We knew we would have the anatomy scan between 18-20 weeks and we are not high risk for genetic abnormalities.

Same with us. Also, I hate that the tests aren't definitive, but that the results are just a higher/lower likelihood - I think they create more panic/worrying. We also felt like knowing wouldn't change our situation; we wouldn't want to terminate and wouldn't want to spend the rest of the pregnancy worrying about it.
I had one last time, and will this time, but I had to ask and push my doc on it as I was not AMA. Ugh. Many, many of my friends did not get it, though.
Love of my life baby boy born 11/11. One and done not by choice; 3 years of TTC yielded 4 MMC and 2 CPs, through 4 IUIs and 2 IVFs. Focusing on making the world a better place instead...and running.
We are currently debating this. Insurance covers it for us, but as a PP said, I feel like it could cause more anxiety/worry if something were to come up as questionable and we wouldn't terminate anyways. That said, my PGAL brain says if it gives me another chance to see the HB and a healthy bean on the u/s, why not. I think the lab work (if it is some of the new testing available) is more accurate from a genetic testing perspective. As a bonus some of the tests can also tell you if baby is a boy or girl. If I were presented with that option, I would probably take it.

I had one but it was optional. Insurance covered it. We opted to do so because my husband is older (and I know it isn't the same as complications from an older mother but it still worried us). Should some of the trisomies (13, 18) have been detected we likely would have terminated.
I did M21 rather than the NT. Glad I did, as, even though I was low risk, they found an abnormality that resulted in termination. This time around, all is well. If termination is on the table at all for you or your H, remember that often by the time you do your A/S, discover you need further testing, schedule the test, do the test, and wait for the results, it is too late to end the pregnancy in most states.
I didn't want to do one since like pp said, it isn't a 100% your child has this, it's just a "well they have a 1 in X chance". With my having twins my RE really pushed doing it because if it looked like one of the babies had an issue they would want further testing. I'm not worried and figured if anything it gives me another ultrasound with her.

FYI - the NT scan bloodwork does not tell you the sex of the baby. That is the Harmony/MaterniT21/Panorama tests. Those are totally different than the NT scan.

With DD we opted not to do part of it (either the blood or the scan - I don't recall which) but with kid 2 we had it all. This time around I'm AMA and DH is OLD (LOL his words), plus if there are any huge issues revealed your doctor can start to make plans about a) where you delivery and b ) which doctors/specialists are waiting in the wings.

Thanks - those are the tests I was referring to but I couldn't for the life of me remember the names - I'll chalk that up to pregnancy brain. I know they are totally different from the NT scan and are usually OOP unless there is some compelling reason for your doctor to order them. That said, supposedly they are more accurate from a genetics testing perspective than the NT scan.

Just wanted to make sure! Didn't want you to be disappointed after your NT scan when they don't tell you the sex!
We chose not to do any genetic testing. We are low risk and further testing and/or termination wasn't going to be an option for us. The midwife basically said under those circumstances it probably wasn't worth the worry it could cause. Also, I figured if there was anything physical that we needed to be prepared for they would catch it at the A/S.

Sits here. I think DH really wanted to do it but he got the feeling my doctor and nurse were not necessarily for it, especially since we will not terminate if something were to come up. My biggest thing is that I don't want any unnecessary stress (my friend had it done with her DD and was told that she had a high chance for Down's Syndrome...her DD is totally fine. Lots of stress for no reason).
But, if we don't do the NT scan I will not have an u/s from 10 wks to 15 wks...unless I can convince my doctor to bring me in for an extra scan (I am definitely going to try this option at my appointment next week). If she won't do another u/s I will likely go ahead and do the NT scan.

This is exactly my thoughts and part of the reason I'm ok doing it.
Have never had one. We also don't have any of the genetic testing. The results would have NJ only caused stressed as termination is not an option for us. I only want medically necessary ultrasounds like dating, anatomy, etc.

If you were me and my doctor will get me in for another u/s somewhere around 12-13 weeks, would you do the NT scan?
I'm fairly confident that I can get in for another u/s...my worry is if I cannot. I know that I will not be able to handle not seeing the baby for 5 weeks considering my m/c history. My doctor is well aware of my concerns both with having another m/c and also introducing more worry/anxiety if the NT results came back positive.
I also need to ask her some questions about if we do the NT scan and if it were to come back positive...what would be next steps. I am under 35 and she said an amnio would not be done (not sure if she meant in replace of the NT or if she meant even if the NT came back positive).
Luckily I have 2 more appts with her before I have to make the decision. Both DH and I are really conflicted on what to do. We were not going to do it with our first pregnancy and now with our losses and wanting to see the baby as much as possible it's introducing confusion.
I hope you NT scan goes well...do you have it scheduled? When will you go?

We are not able to do the full NT scan. Since we had conceived twins, but one didn't develop (I guess I'd call it a miscarriage), the hormone level they check for in the b/w will be artificially elevated, and won't give us accurate results.
Before that happened, we decided we would probably do the scan because if something was wrong, I wanted a few months to research and understand what to expect, not because we would terminate. I don't know if they'll want to do the u/s anyway (I will likely have it done if the Dr. believes it will be useful)

If your Dr will just do a regular check up u/s I would skip the NT scan. But I agree, NO WAY I could go 5 weeks without something since I've gone every 2 weeks since I had my beta.
I go in next Thursday at 11 weeks and then we are scheduling NT scan. She said 12 1/2 weeks so I assume May 19/20? That's my last RE appt and I made my first OB one which will be at 15 weeks and they said he'll want to do an ultrasound too. Which I'm fine with
My doctor ordered the N/T scan without really asking if I wanted it, so I thought it was just a normal test that everyone gets. Once I got there, they asked me if I wanted the blood work done because the doctor didn't specify. I went ahead and did it. Everything came back normal and I was so glad to hear that, so I have no regrets. Plus it was fun seeing how big baby had grown.
