No she doesn't. I have told her that if she lifts up her dress she doesn't get to wear them anymore and I think her love of dresses is stronger then her want to be a flasher.
At school -- yes my daughter wears tights or bike shorts under a dress. I'd be fine with her skipping it for say a walk to the store but she really wants something under a dress most days.
So, stupid question...at what point did you start this and why? I mean, I guess once I started school wearing uniform skirts I wore them but never before that so like 2nd grade? Is it modesty, is it to protect legs/bottom from slide "rug"burn. Do you differentiate between nice dresses (for Easter, Christmas, etc.) or just wear shorts always?
I feel like a really dumb girl mom.
I've always done it. She wore diaper covers as a baby and I switched to shorts once she was potty trained. I usually do tights with nice dresses and don't bother with shorts if she is wearing tights or leggings.

Absolutely. The kids sit on the carpet every morning for announcements, and again in the afternoon for reading, etc. And modesty is not one of DD #2s strengths. #1 almost never wears skirts so it's not an issue, but she's a little older/more aware of these things so I wouldn't worry as much with her.
"Nice" dresses that reach the knees or below I don't have her wear shorts underneath unless she's going to school and it's a PE day. But that rarely happens...she'd only dress up that way if it were picture day or a class presentation, and that's 3-4 times/year max so odds of it also being PE day are slim.

I use the little shorts that come with summer pjs, they don't need to match, since you seldom see them. DD is in a class with kids ranging from 7 to 10, so even though she is not really into modesty yet, some of the other kids are really into it. She also sometimes wears leggings that are short enough to be capris to protect her knees. They are left over from when she was younger. I don't go buy things specifically for that purpose.

when she got out of diapers and into pull-ups, given her size, skirts w/ shorts attached were hit or miss. she about 3 when the shorts/leggings under skirts started. for me its a modesty issue.
nice holiday dresses get either tights or changed immediately out of once church is over.

Yes, she wears something that covers her underwear. Thick tights, leggings, capris, bike shorts, or the cartwheel/playground shorts. Today my DD wanted to wear tights and playground shorts under her dress, so she's doubly-covered!

It is mostly a modesty thing for me. Little bike shorts don't offer that much more protection than the grannie style underwear my 4 year old wears.
With formal stuff she wears footed tights vs. leggings but that is mostly her prefernce.
Yes, please have your daughter wear something besides underwear! I was at a playground the other day and there was a girl (maybe about 5 yrs old) that just had undies on under her dress. Let me say she was pretty exposed. Going down the slide her dress and underwear would ride up leaving not much to the imagination. So even if they don't lift their dress above their head, they play!
