God knows the United States would be one of the first to go. "Everybody back to your respective countries now! Evacuate Atlanta, the Cherokees want it back now!"
I'm confused. As a Viking do I get to go (whatever whatever) wherever I want? Or do I actually not have a home because currently my government is comprised of Germans?
Don't you have a dragon? I'm pretty sure you can go wherever the hell you want if you have a dragon.
emsumm has just proven that it IS possible to have this as a "like I'm 5" discussion.
Wow. That's mature.
It was a bit snarky, yes, but FWIW there are 5 pages of serious discussion with sources cited and pretty amicable until people decided to blow off steam about such a heated discussion by making jokes, which I don't have a problem with.
If she (who is too fragile to be tagged) wanted to engage in a serious matter, she could have bothered to read the previous discussions and citations. You can't really come in, guns blazing, claiming crazy stuff with no sources, and then when people disagree with you, say, "Stop yelling at me! I'm sensitive!" particularly if the regs on here don't know you from Adam.
She is welcome to come back and engage for real if she wants to.

And her arguments are not the ones people on my side of the coin should be making, as I feel those are our biggest weaknesses. I certainly don't think the fact "G-d told us that land is for the Jews" since it was "ours" 3000 years ago is particularly persuasive. But that's my Agnostic/Atheist side showing through.
However, now that it's there and has been since 1948, I will defend it's right to exist in the current location. (And open to discussion about pre 1967 borders)

Interesting. I wonder what was different for Albania, Bulgaria, Demark, and Finland that each of those countries made an effort to protect their Jewish population. I think there's a book that discusses Bulgaria but I cannot remember.
Another question: why were the numbers so high specifically in Poland? Did they just have a very large Jewish population, a very weak resistance, Hitler hated them most...? What happened there?
It should be noted that entire villages of non-Jewish poles were slaughtered for trying to protect the whereabouts of their Jewish neighbors on the run/in hiding.
The government in exile and the citizenry were very much against the extermination of Jews and tried to get help. It's a case of momentum and "the nail that sticks up most gets hammered hardest". They fought back viciously but paid a pretty shitty price.

And yet in other Polish areas and in the cities proper, many Poles colluded actively with the Germans to help identify and round up their Jewish neighbors.

Oh yeah, it definitely wasn't all peaches and kumbaya. I just wanted to point out that Poland was very much so the "front line" of the Holocaust and it was very adversarial between lots of ethnic Poles and the Nazis. Collusion happened but it wasn't a de facto cooperative relationship across the board.
Mr Kerry said the US is concerned about the safety of Palestinian civilians, but lent his support to Israel's offensive, saying: "No country can stand by while rockets are attacking it."
But people should stand by and do nothing while their schools and hospitals are bombed because if they do anything, they're terrorists?
And most of the dead are doctors. JFC. But I'm sure this will somehow be not Israel's fault.
No its cool, remember? There are no morals in war and also they were probably caring for people who don't wanna feed their children anyways. If your home was being bombed you'd kill doctors too!

Ok, I'm pretty new-ish to this, but isn't the main reason why Israeli fatalities are so low is because of the Iron Dome? Do we have a rocket vs. rocket count? Is it just that more Israeli rockets are getting through vs. Hamas rockets hitting their targets?

Really? We're right back here again? Remind me, which side keeps refusing and breaking a ceasefire?
They also said they weren't responsible for killing all those civilians at the UN school before being forced to admit that yes, they did kill all those civilians at the UN school. So I'm not too inclined to trust what the IDF says at the moment.
