I am not thinking of PT until age 2.5 at the minimum, but the thought of it seems daunting to me and i am seriously dreading it. I want to hire someone to potty train her for me.
So, seriously, is your life easier since you've potty trained? Diapers just seem sooo easyyyy to me. Inspire me.
Yes! But Lincoln trained so easily, I was shocked. Diapers weren't difficult by any means but it's so nice now with him being in undies. We still diaper for nighttime even though he wakes up dry most days but he's just not ready for undies at night.
When we PT Jack it was only easier because he could pull his own pants down, get on the toilet himself and flush on his own. We just had to wipe if it was poop. And he was legit PT in 24 hours with minimal effort on my part.
In a lot of ways it is. She wasn't an easy trainer, but now she has more control and we aren't running to the bathroom a million times. It can be a pain when out or traveling, but even that isn't too bad at this point. She's been solid for about a month now.

It has pros and cons, but I like it because I save money on diapers! It was stressful at first, but now she's pretty good about holding it and hasn't had an accident in weeks. She won't even go in a swim diaper at the pool.

I personally do not think it's easier, at least not yet.
1. When going out shopping or whatever, I have to drop everything to get her to the bathroom when she tells me she has to potty. Like, this past Sunday, we were at the zoo and had to rush to find the closest bathroom several times. She did not make it one time, and I got pee all over me. Good times.
2. Instead of letting her quietly play in her crib in the mornings/after nap, we have to get her immediately so that she can use the potty. I miss those extra 10-20 minutes of time.
3. I am doing more laundry now. While I bought plenty of underwear for her, it's still not enough, especially in the beginning when she was having more accidents. That has tapered off a bit, so I guess that's okay.

The only pro I can think of is saving money on diapers. I mean I know eventually they need to be potty trained, but I can't think of one single reason it would be better (for me).
Right now it's a lot less work. She tells us when she needs to potty and all I have to do is keep her company. She's only had 2 poop accidents since PTing and both were while she was sick. Less than once a week she has a pee accident which means wet pants and wet underwear that I either wash right away or rinse out in the sink then throw in the laundry later. Instead of a clean diaper, I carry a spare pair of pants and panties for her.
ETA - she now goes less often than I do while hugely pregnant so mostly I just take her with me when out and sometimes she'll try and sometimes she won't have to. We do occasionally have to drop everything and find a restroom, but not all the time.

Really thinking about it, unless you HATE changing diapers, it is actually less convenient. You have to remember to get the kid to pee before going somewhere and you might still have to find a bathroom at a moments notice once you arrive. And it's always very urgent. I was talking with our neighbors the other day and we were saying how diapers really aren't that expensive. It's like $35 a month for us right now.
I like not having to bring a diaper bag and saving money on diapers plus its easier for me to have her use public toilets than to change her out in public (where there often aren't changing tables)

So I'm team wait if you want.
Yeah, diapers are so expensive when their newbs, but not such a big deal now. The main motivator for me is that I'd rather not PT with a newborn around. But that motivator hasn't actually motivated me to do it yet. I thought I'd do the 3-day thing, but the idea of staying home for 3 days straight in the summer is just, no.
From my recollections with Henry...the first few weeks after were a pain in terms of I felt I always needed to carry extra outfits in case of accidents, needing to be ready to very quickly go to a bathroom on a moments notice, and needing to hold him up on public toilets (he peed sitting at first). Then it was easy BUT I have boys and thus they can pee outside. Parks were /are the worst. I don't know about NYC but there is a dearth of restrooms at parks/ playgrounds here.
We potty trained at 3 and the process itself was fairly easy and he was very independent with it right away.
Not PTing yet, but I am finding it a little surprising that so many of our kiddos were all of a sudden ready to PT all at once! I feel behind the curve on this, but trust V's teacher who said she doesn't think she's ready yet. She said once they are officially ready, it is pretty easy.
At this point, I still like her in diapers. It's easier for being out and about and I don't mind changing her.
I don't particularly love changing diapers, but at this age I only change her like 4 times a day. It's no biggie.
I wish Emmy would have gone this long! I had to change her diaper every 2 hours because she hated being wet. So having her PT is way easier. No diaper bag, no screaming at diaper change time, no expensive diapers to buy. Think of all the outfits you can buy her when you free up that money!
Emerson Kate, born 38w5d on 4/6/12 at 6:02 p.m., 5 lbs 13 oz and 18 3/4 inches. Lucas Matthew, born 39w5d on 4/11/14 at 8:20 a.m., 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches.
Nope. Not really. But we are just a few days in. So it's still asking tons of times if she has to go. Then running to the potty and sometimes being too late. And we haven't conquered pooping on the potty. And cleaning poopy undies is so much worse then diapes. Like I want to just throw them out.
Once we are really trained I'm sure it will be. But we aren't there yet.
but it's only been a few days. I found diapers very easy and I don't add up the cost of them over weeks months etc so I never thought about that part. just, oh $20 for a big box of diapers, seems fair. Really she was very interested and I decided to take advantage while she was interested and try to get it over with.
also bedtime is killing me. She is using it as a ploy to delay sleep. I NEED TO GO POTTY! I NEED TO GO NOWWWW. then she tries to start the whole bed, stories, songs routine over. NO. go to sleep you trickster.
oh and we are still using diapers at night, because I just don't want to deal with it right now.
I tell her "just because you have a diaper on, you don't need to pee in it! if you wake up just call me and I'll take you to the potty". I would MUCH rather she just pee in her diaper though

My plan for this was going to be to put the potty chair in her room. But Edie never had an issue. She doesn't really fight bedtime. She fights that we try to leave, but not going to sleep.

I absolutely cannot handle the idea of pee accidents! I know they are bound to happen occasionally, but ugh. I hate pee! What a mess.
We've only ever had one. And it was at night. And she was wearing a diaper that she just peed through. So it really has nothing to do with being potty trained! So, I guess we've had zero.
And only one poop incident. She had the runs big time and sharted in the store. It was like skidmarks. We just tossed the undies. NBD.
