I took the J.crew sale email in my inbox as a sign that Minnie pants belong in my closet. I love the fit and wished they still had the pink ones in stock.
Talbots never wows me when I go in there. Ever so often, I'll venture in and I'm underwhelmed. Maybe I have to keep trying or something.
All those clothes are boring. Or, at least, the person I know who shops there for their petite plus clothes is a boring dresser so I've decided Talbots is boring as a result. She also shops in J.Jill's which is another store filled with big beige clothes. I like jewel tones and patterns and things that aren't square cut. I'm fluffy but I have a waist in there somewhere between the triple D tittays and the coke bottle ass. I don't want to hide my shape and just throw a drape on and call it a day.
I can get behind Talbot's being pretty boring (it's definitely traditional), but I only wear jewel tones and I buy everything there.
It really is best for work clothes where conservative is generally more of a benefit. They definitely do knits and suiting the best. So if you need any of that, it's great. They also have some cute fit and flare dresses it the spring and summer.

Sorry if I missed it in this thread, but where do you get your inspiration? Are there any sites I can visit that discuss trends that will be in for the upcoming season?
I really want to love dresses like this but for some reason I can never understand they always hit at an incredibly awkward place just above my natural waist and make me look thick and dumpy. These SHOULD work with my hourglass figure but for some reason the proportion is always off.
I had been holding out on the AE jeggings but they're on sale for $29.99 + 20% off coupon code + free shipping + 5% back on ebates so it would have been stupid not to get them. I picked up two pairs in both a 14 and 16 to see which fits best since I'm unsure of their sizing.

I wear a 14 in ON jeans and sized up for AE. I probably could have ordered the 14 though as the 16s are a tad loose but only in the waist. I'm going to try a pair on tomorrow and then order another color from the website. I hadn't noticed the 20% so thanks for mentioning it!
I wish they offered more washes in the high rise jeggings. I am not wearing the distressed ones and the only colors they have are pretty summery. Do they usually add fall colors? I've also been eyeing the charcoal skinny jeans but I am not too sure how well they'd fit since I imagine they're not as stretchy as the jeggings.
I need to know this as well...mine are too big from last year. I loved corduroy skinnies with a button down and ballet flats or boots. I bought my from NY & Company before.
I bought The Limited exact stretch ankle pants and I am OBSESSED. They have awesome structure, are tailored so they are comfortable around my waist without doing that dumpy extra lower stomach fabric thing and if you catch their sales they are reasonably prices.
So I am short so these pants skim my ankles. How long do you think I can get away with wearing flats and these pants? I want to order more but if I am going to look like a dork in December I might hold off because money.
I always wear warm walking boots to work so this is strictly just a wear inside a building outfit.

I love ankle pants with flats, even in the dead of winter, but then the dead of winter here = 50 degrees.

Are skinnies actually on the way out or are we worrying about that because we can? Personally I think skinnies are going to be like bootcut jeans and trouser pants; they might not always be on trend but will always be in style because if you find the right fit they can be very flattering to most figures. They seem too ubiquitous this year to be truly on the way out. When the fancy $200 a pair denim designers start to move away from the trend then I'll start to worry about them going away the next year.
So hang on, if skinnies are on the way out, does that mean boots are too?
NEVER!
Expanding on my previous post. To the knee boots have been on trend for as long as I've been paying attention to fashion (about 1996 or so) but someone with a longer shoe memory can correct me on that. I do think the flat riding boot will go the way of the squared toes and blocky heels of my college years or the long pointed toe and stiletto heels I wore the first few years out of college but I think the general look will stick around. I'm purposely not investing in a new pair of flat boots this year because I am unsure how long that trend will go but I'll still wear the ones I have until I quit seeing them featured in the Anniversary Sale.

Meh, this just continue the trend of me being 3-4 seasons behind everyone. It takes me about that long to get used to a new look, and by the time I'm thinking to myself, ok I can pull this off, it's time for whatever trend I'm interested in to be heading out. I'm ok with this.
