Nope. You're just assuming any mormon must hate gays. Yanno, because the angel Moroni.
And now I'm mad that I'm 'defending' a Mormon when I should be cracking jokes about the moron in Moroni and how my fingers always type moron instead of mormon and then I have to fix it. LIKE EVERY TIME!
She's not saying that! She's saying that as a Mormon business owner 10% off their money would go to the church. The church itself does hate the gays and has funded some shady stuff. It doesn't matter what the business owner themselves think, it's where the money is going.

You don't know that she pays her tithes or even that she's a member of one of the LDS churches that's active in that fight instead of perhaps one of the many offshoots that consider themselves LDS but are perhaps less involved.
Also, I read the article you posted and while I don't agree with her fully, she comes across as someone who is challenging many of the LDS norms in the church. So I think it's silly to presume that merely being a member of an LDS church means you are fully committed to opposing gay marriage in a manner that would legally bar gay marriage from passing.
But if you can find something where she says rah rah Prop 8, I will take it back.

Incorrecto lady. I have no idea what she thinks about gay people.
If she's a Mormon in good standing then she 100% donates 10% of her income to her church, the same church that was instrumental in passing prop 8 in my state. The day after that fucking prop passed my uncle died, with only, according that prop, his illegitimate husband by his side. He battled aids almost his entire adult life. One of his last memories on earth was that his home, a state he is a resident of, paid taxes to, and loves, passed a law that said he was less than other people. He went to bed devastated that night and never woke up again. So if I choose not to indirectly support that same fucking bigoted church and you want to call me a bigot because of it, so be it.
I don't understand why that's anything more than eyeroll worthy. Or any less valid. It's what she believes. It's not as if it's peppered all over her website or that the tone of her sight or anything else on her site implies she feels anyone who doesn't agree is hellbound and a half.
I don't want to patronize a business I feel is founded on misogynist beliefs, and I do think upholding a patriarchal worldview should be discouraged.
I agree that her site is professional and neutral. Although it has a special modesty section. And some bad photography. I love her clothes.

Because nobody asked me... my problem with SA is that most of the dresses fall right at tea-length, which makes a girl with strong calves look like she has huge legs and since I'm not a former ballerina or a girl who has a lot of time for making sure my calves are tiny, I feel those would not flatter my legs (or belly). I do like this dress from their website, but I would be hesitant to spend $90 on it b/c I would want to hem it.
Here is my donation of pinterest saves, most are not very adventurous but they are a step up from the jeans/random geek t-shirt I normally wear.
One of the biggest things I've done for myself is that I've started basing my wardrobe around a couple key colors. I picked navy blue, green, and mustard yellow. I have a really decent mix and match collection of things based on these colors, and they are colors that I feel that I look good in. That's not to say that if I see a cute red top, I won't buy it, but since I was basically starting my wardrobe from scratch (my body has changed quite a bit), I have been really pleased with the results. I feel like I actually have some "wardrobe staples" vs. a bunch of stuff in my closet.

I knew you didn't want to support the Mormon church. I didn't know why. I'm sorry about your uncle.

Again, you don't know that she's in good standing and you don't know what branch of the LDS church she belongs to.

Even more devastating? His sisters, my aunts, voted for it.

Google tells me she and her DH are board members of a religious liberty foundation. This is highly suspect to me, as religious liberty has become code for CHRISTIAN AMERICA BITCHES.
Regardless, I saw this on her page: "Athelia "CK" Woolley LeSueur, founder, Shabby Apple, studied dance, art history, and neuroscience previous to earning her graduate degree at Stanford. Before realizing her fashion career she was a counselor for victims of domestic violence in Brooklyn, and did her best to defend human rights while at Amnesty International."
So I think this is really commendable and-- in conjunction with the fact that she lives in NYC and didn't get married / have a kid until at least 30-- does call into question whether she is a traditional, socially conservative Mormon.
I guess I'm not sure what to think. I wish she hadn't said all the modesty shit because that really makes me stabby.
omfg. WANT. Want that camel coat, want everything in the middle box/picture, want everythign in the red ensemble, and want everything in the white shirt/olive leggings look.
I'm new to this thread so I don't know if anyone has answered this, but JCrew and JCrew factory have two different cuts of tight cords. One is super skinny and the other slightly looser. Toothpick v. Matchstick.
Am I the only one who is afraid of cheetah print? Whenever I see a cute little belt or shoes with that print in an outift online, I think, oh that's kinda cute. Whenever I see one in the store, I'm going...

Can't pull it off.
Anyone can do cheetah in the right proportions. Maybe not a dress or pants, but a scarf or some flats? Hell yes. Try it with green.

What's the verdict on argyle? I picked up a new argyle sweater from Tommy Hilfiger and I plan on pairing it with dark jeans and possibly a blazer or maybe I might pair it with a collared shirt underneath.
I also plan on rocking my riding boots again this year. I'd like to pick up some statement necklaces because I do not really accessorize very much and I'd like to change that. I just hate that they are so pricy and BR and J Crew. Does anyone have any suggestions for cheaper jewelry?

I'm so frustrated right now. I went shopping at the outlets about an hour away from me two weeks ago. At JCrew I tried on these chinos and floved them! They will be perfect for spirit days. So I checked online and they were on flash sale for $34. I asked the JCrew clerk if they honor online prices and he said no so I passed. Of course when I get home they were no longer on sale and I haven't seen them at that price again. Damnit!! I keep stalking the website waiting.

I adore argyle!
ETA: I missed the jewelry part. I love Charming Charlies. Their website is alright but their store is AWESOME! They organize it by color so if you're looking for navy blue and silver, every accessory they have that falls under that color is in that section. Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, purses, scarves, sets, etc. Most stuff is around the $15 mark. I've seen some at $10 that weren't on sale though. I would say about 45% of it is a necklace and earring set for $13 or $15.
I like to buy sets that have two colors in them so I can wear them for a variety of looks. I do much like someone I cannot remember said above, sticking to specific color families to make shopping and selection easier. This year, I want to add gray and yellow.

A couple years ago I was randomly in Sears and they had great cheap jewelry that was half off at the time. I suggest places like that.

omgzombies - This was me today. Leopard print is subtle. Which means pretty much anyone can do it. I will say that it really depends on the leopard print/piece. Some look cheap and gawdy. Go with a classic piece in leopard. Can't go wrong.

Oh my goodness, and your shoe collection! So jealous!
