Vespasia I am not totally opposed, I'd need to see with a few outfits though. I've been drooling over light brown ankle boots on Zappos all morning. I need to win the lottery. LOL.
I love the idea of searching pinterest for a specific item. Why has that never occurred to me??? this is why you are the pinterest queen @smorriso lololol
And I also am loving the chambray. I like it because you can dress it up or down relatively easily and I think it can look very chic and put together if styled right.

They're $30 on dsw clearance so I suppose I should order them just in case. 9/10 I have to return things for not fitting or not being comfortable anyway.

oh for that price I would go for it! I wouldnt want them to be my main go-to shoe but I would definitely get 30 bucks worth of wear out of them!!
I would make the tops more blousey to cover any extra belly fluff. This and layer. A jacket pulled in at the waist is really great on any size. If you find pants you love (like the JCrew Minnie, Gap skinny pant, or Modern boot - my favs) buy in multiple colors.
I was up to a full 16 before losing weight, and I had to dress plus sized.
KB - Mine are all Gap fam shirts. The dark one I purchased at BR, I think they come in Talls.
Plus size stores never work for me with bottoms. Despite the extra weight my waist is still a lot smaller than my hips and thighs. Whenever I have gone to a plus size store the waist is way to big and the legs are way too tight. The amount of tailoring that would be necessary doesn't seem worth it. I have never been able to wear Gap, Old Navy, or JCrew bottoms. I have had most luck with Loft Curvy line but their options are not great. I guess I just need to go shopping, but the thought stresses me out.
OMG yes! I swear, nothing really fits my ass. I think @smorriso already knows this about me, though, lol!

I have to back @helenabonhamcarter on the Toms love. They look great with skinny jeans.
And for over-the-knee boots, here's one of my go-to fall looks (that I can now only do in winter here):
It's a bad/unflattering angle, but those are the Jessica Simpson Cobra boots (with the cuff flipped up instead of down) in espresso. I also have them in black. Pictured here over black leggings with a teal tunic sweater from H&M. When going through my pictures to find one of me in the boots, I discovered this was also the outfit I wore when I met up with Cicero.
Anyone care to find cute vegan pumps for me? Back when I started this whole law thing, I had planned on getting another pair of Louboutins with my first lawyer paycheck. But I've recently decided to stop acquiring leather products, so now I'm on the hunt for cute vegan accessory brands... to get with my second (or third or fourth) paycheck because my first is now going mostly to my dentist.

gpw I have the Fryes in black. I think the same ones you have - the Jane. I like them because they are pretty casual with just a bit of a heel and I like the black leather. I'm usually not a fan of black leather boots bc for some reason they always look cheap to me, I dunno. But I love these.

did I miss a story??
Not a particularly interesting one. I just chipped a molar a week after learning I'd have dental insurance again (ironically), which set into motion a number of dental procedures (cleaning, fillings, etc.) that ultimately ended with a root canal of the initially chipped molar that required 4 separate appointments during bar prep. I was able to pay for the first few appointments with cash but finally asked for a payment plan for the root canal.
So about boots. I love them but rarely wear them because I always feel like they just aren't comfortable for any length of time. Are there any great styles in wide width? Not necessarily wide calf, but wide width for foot. Because even though I usually wear B or M width shoes with ease, when you add a great boot sock, I need a little more room. I hate feeling like I can't wiggle my toes!

I have an unorthodox shoe recommendation. Because I teach on my feet all day I look for really comfy shoes to wear. I love this particular style from Roxy for my casual dress day. I think they look cute with jeans or khakis. They are as comfortable as sneakers but don't look like them.
I need them in tall (5'10) so I've only had luck at Gap.
I need new sources for tall tops. Where do you shop?
I need new sources too. I feel like everything I own is Gap/ON/Banana because they sell tall tops. Ann Taylor and jcrew do too but I don't need dressy clothes and I feel like their tall lines are mostly geared for women in offices. I'm going to experiment with custom tops from local tailors and see how that goes.
Okay. So putting together my Fall Casual (those who are gainfully employed may want to put together a different list) must-haves list, this is what I've got [on the list, not necessarily in my closet yet]:
Boots: - Brown flat riding boots - Black heeled boots - Ankle booties - Boot socks
Shoes: - Leopard print something (I like flats) - Black flats - Vibrant colored heel - Hipster sneaker (eg Chucks. What, what gpw)
Tops: - Navy blazer - Chambray button down - Tunics for leggings - White T-shirt - Charcoal t-shirt - navy-white striped shirt - Thin "generic" sweater - Cable knit snuggle sweater (preferably in oatmeal or charcoal)
Pants: - Gray jeggings - Dark wash skinny jeans - Black leggings - Vibrant colored jeggings (orange, red, or green) - Traditional "boyfriend" jeans
Does that about cover it for staples?
I'd add a skinny belt and a wide belt to that list.

So I'm going to New York for Christmas. What do I need? We'll be there for 8 days, going to a few shows and a couple of blow-out dinners, but mostly casual stuff. I have brown riding boots and black booties. I have a wool cropped coat, a thin black peacoat, and a red peacoat. I have scarves galore. I need a cute cloche and maybe another hat... anything else I must have?

I miss Gap's tall shirts sooooo much. I'm not even technically tall, but whatever the proportions are of my body, regular length sleeves are too short, Oxfords never stay tucked in, and shirts pinch me around the rib cage probably because of my lats from swimming, which also aren't that massive, but whatever. A tall in a smaller size rather than a regular in a larger size just looked and felt better and now I have the sadz.
Long torso. I am afflicted, too. People are surprised when I tell them I don't need tall pants. It's because my torso is freakishly long (to me).
