For a bunch of reasons my training buddies and I won't be able to get together for our long run, and now I'm looking at 20 miles solo tomorrow morning. I've never gone this far by myself, and I'm a little nervous. Surely this will give me some sort of mental boost?
You've got this! Just remember it's only 4 5-mile runs after each other. I find it easier to break it up into chunks like that.
This is where having 3 dogs comes in handy My plan for tomorrow is 4 w/Dog #1, 4 w/dog#2, 2 w/dog#3, and 7 by myself. Its sound slightly less intimidating. lol
G22, I don't blame you. If I was off, I'd probably knock it out before the weekend, as well.
skwcm80, DH & I took last Friday off....but we only did 9 miles. Whomp, whomp. LOL Did you take the day off specifically for the run? I've totally done that before.
I've actually found I do my long runs better by myself rather than with my running partner... Who happens to be my H. He doesn't talk or annoy me or anything, but it's so much more peaceful solo. You've totally got this!

Kinda. I have an errand to run, but a half day would haven taken care of it. I'd just rather get it over with since the forecast holds humidity, humidity, and more humidity this weekend.
Ok here's where I fess up that I've never done a long run with other people. I'm a total anti-social runner. I like doing things on my time at my own pace.

I've done up to 18 alone. You've got this! What works for me is the break it up into a few short running mentally. Doing 4 5 mile runs doesn't sound as bad to me.

Same here. I did my first half marathon training with a friend, but since then I pretty much do all my long runs on my own. I feel too much pressure running with other people.
It wasn't pretty, but I made it. FL and TX ladies feel free to tell me to quit my whining if I talk about humidity again. 70 something degrees and 94% humidity at 7:30 am, holy shit that was a miserable run.
pixy0stix In a cruel twist of fate my phone was disabled for the last 7 miles. Precisely when those voices were loudest. I think I said "this is bullshit" out loud.
eta - @vtcupcake G22sassystace how did your runs go?
