But aren't they OK, as God's chosen people? Or something like that.
God, who is perfect and who knows everything that every was and ever will be, changed his mind between book one and book two. People will be so mad when he writes book three and its only red heads that go to heaven now.
As a former fundie, I feel well-qualified to answer this. The following are the most often-noted reasons I can recall through years of fundie-ism. Not in any particular order.
1. Israel is the only nation created by God. 2. Israel (and the jewish people) are God's people and should be treated with respect and honor. 3. Jews are living proof of miracles (!!). 4. The continuation of Israeli sovereignty over the Holy Land is proof that God exists. 5. They are an island of non-muslimism and therefore are morally superior in a "godless" region of the world. 6. The entire conflict in the middle east is summarized as "God vs. Allah" and we must fight on the (eventual) winning side.
I thought God = Allah, Muslim's just got the name wrong and refuse to believe in Jesus as God/Son of God/Divine/etc.

Not to the fundies. Allah is a pagan "god". I think God = Allah is more of a moderate/liberal evangelical position.
But see, the fundies (and other conservative evangelicals) are keeping on God's good side this way. The enemies of the Jews are God's enemies, see?
Hey, I just repeat what I've heard a million times. (Which is ... well, justification for a lot of the stuff fundies say. Research/developing one's own opinion is so very liberal.)
Now we need to leverage that momentum to remove the textbooks that were adopted last year in counties across the state. As of January 1, 2015, those textbooks will no longer be compliant with our new law. That is why I am contacting you today.
Whether you were focused on the textbooks, elections, or Common Core, we need all hands on deck Thursday night, so please make every effort to attend.
Finally, remember to forward this email to your family and friends. We need more parents and citizens from other counties to join us Thursday night. Your presence is needed to win this battle and take back local control of our children's education in this state. Remember, these textbooks will indoctrinate our children for another six years with inaccurate and biased information that do not reflect our values!
I wrote 2 responses and PB ate them both. So this is shorter. I'm tired of typing it.
What is the new law? Is it based in anti-bias research? Are the textbooks really biased, such as only showing Native Americans in traditional clothing? Or reinforcing other cultural and racial stereotypes, like a big one for TN might be the depictions of people living in Appalachia.
Do they really want all hands on deck and have an enriching discussion about curriculum and textbook bias?

LOL.
Yes I know you're merely reciting popular beliefs of fundies, Mrs J. I am not laughing at you.

Allah = false idol/false prophet/pagan god, although they misuse the word pagan (paganism is traditionally polytheistic where Islam is monotheistic). Some would go so far as to say Allah = tool of Satan under the logic that anyone who is trying to steer people away from the Christian God is working against Christianity and therefore satanic.
No offense taken. It is comical and I still wonder WTH I believed that stuff as long as I did. But it's fun to look at it from the outside these days.
I can cosign this one. Former fundie homeschooler who attended a Pentecostal college checking in.
I can co-sign on this too as someone raised fundie-ish in my teen years. My DH was raised as fundie as the Duggars and my inlaws have said stuff like this.
BUT, what I don't get is that the are also anti Semites when it comes to American Jewish people. They are so freakin' offensive with the stuff they'll say about Jewish people here in America even the way they say "Jew" is in a snide way. Yet they support Israel. I don't get it. Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Here I was thinking the entire conflict in the Middle East was over oil. At least in modern times.
No, no, no. It's good versus evil. They're just using oil as an excuse to attack christianity.
Somewhat related tangent: DH and I were on a 2.5 hour road trip last month and summarized the entire history of the Jewish people for the whole 2.5 hours.
We decided that the Old Testament needs to be a Drunk History special episode.
We are definitely going to do it ourselves first to pitch it to Derek Waters.

Maybe they're resentful that we're not all in Israel, like god wants.

There's no way to do the whole OT. But fucking hilarious would be Drunk History of Leviticus, Chapter 15. GOOGLE IT!!!

Actually I asked DH tonight and he said, according to his BSC parents, that the Jewish people in America today are not the same people in Israel. The Jewish Israelites are from the tribe of Abraham where those in America just call themselves Jews but they aren't really Jewish. Hence the supporting Israel but still being raging anti-Semites. OMG.
FTR, DH and I both think they're nuts. Like to the point of being scary so please no flames.

Lol. DH's grandparents were in the holocaust. When it was over, some of their remaining friends and family went to Israel. Some went to New York, Florida, Cleveland. Same Jews. Same genes.
The mental gymnastics are extraordinary! ETA: my guess makes way more sense.

It makes zero sense but that's how they are. DH used to think that it's because they've lived in a tiny town in the south their whole lives and only socialize with their other fundie friends, but now he agrees there's no excuse for their ignorance.

I wonder if I know any in Cleveland. I know a lot of people in the Orthodox community.
