Well, this only really matters for the BQ<5 min peeps. They just announced that registration definitely WILL open on Monday! No idea how many spots remain, but at least we can attempt to register. Ya hear that taratru?? It's going to be open & waiting for you!
Woooot! I have to be at work super early on Monday, so I'm planning to register during my lunch break. I haven't booked a hotel yet (well, a backup hotel; I still want to do an apartment rental) because I am too afraid of jinxing it.
An update, jordylee! According to BAA, there are roughly 8,000 spots left. Last year during this week, there were only 5,000 left. This tells me that 1) You are in and 2) I at least stand a chance. Cutoff last year was 1:38...so as long as there aren't 3,000+ people waiting to register in those 38 sec between 1:38 and my BQ-1:00, I MIGHT get a spot. LOL Registering in 15 min and then crossing my fingers between now and Wednesday.
Good luck!! So how does this work anyway? How are BQ people grouped? What was jordylee and your times?
Sorry, just curious for my future. I've been thinking about it a lot. I had a good pace run over the weekend and I think I have a good shot at least qualifying. Not sure if I'll make it in.

During the first week, it opens up to BQ-20 min, then BO-10 min, then BQ-5 min. If spots remain after that, it opens in week 2 to all qualifiers. (We're now in week 2.) All of these registration periods are ranked by best times in comparison to your qualifying standard, so even now, BQ-4 min gets in before BQ-30 sec (In this system, a 4:00 time could get in before a 3:05 time.) If less than 8,000 people register over the next 3 days, we all get in. If not, they start ranking by time, until all slots are full. Last year, that cut-off time winded up being BQ-1:38. (But of course everyone says that last year was a special exception w/increased demand). In past years, that cutoff wasn't necessary. For the 2013 race, everyone got in. I have exactly BQ-1:00 (3:34:00). I believe jordy has it by a few minutes.

Thanks! this is very helpful. I hope you get in, because then I have hope I will make it. Good luck! When do you find out?

Thanks! HOPEFULLY less than 8,000 people register. If that happens, we should find out fairly quickly after registration closes Wednesday night. Maybe Thursday morning? When registration closed this past Saturday, they almost immediately announced that it would reopen today. If the number of entries submitted exceeds the 8,000 spots available, they'll need to start ranking, so who knows. Definitely by the end of the weekend, because if more spots are still available after Wednesday, registration reopens Monday on a first come first served basis.

You are so in! The numbers are definitely in your favor.

I can not imagine trying to manage this system. And I hope you get in!!

Thanks! I don't know how they do it. They have to go through 24,000 entries and verify every single qualifying time. They do it quickly too! Then, if it fills up, to have to start ranking? It blows my mind to think about how it's all done.
I'm getting ready to register on my lunch break. I've got a -2:05, so I am optimistic. I won't feel totally out of the woods until there is a confirmation in my inbox though.
Good luck everyone! What a complex process with a crapton of data to weed through- hopefully they have some ace computer programmers/analysts to make sure it's done quickly (and accurately)
Thanks! I am cautiously optimistic that the numbers are in our favor. According to some stats from a NYYR article, last year during this week, 8,426 people submitted applications. They were able to accept 5,450 and had to deny 2,976. With slightly less demand and 3,000 extra spots this year, that's encouraging, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. I'll be bummed, but it's not the end of the world. It will just mean that project baby will start in November instead of April.
This is mean, but something I have been enjoying the most is watching people completely lose their shit on social media. LOL I know people get anxious and feelings run strong over this race, but people are crazy! Boston's Facebook page as provided some lighthearted entertainment.

Yes!! I've been stalking the Boston Marathon page and the RW Boston Marathon forum, and it's incredibly entertaining. Of course, I'm obsessing just as much as all of them, but at least I can keep it (for the most part) to myself. My husband would probably tell a different story, though

YOU GUYS!! I'm dying. MIDDLE OF NEXT WEEK?!?!?!
"Entry submissions from those who have met their qualifying time for the 2015 Boston Marathon continues today, but registration will close at 5:00 p.m. ET. All time qualifiers may submit an application though the number of remaining spots into the race is limited.
Regrettably, due to field size limitations and the large number of qualifiers who have submitted an application to date, not all those who submit an entry may be accepted. All of those who submit an application through today will receive notice by the middle of next week with regard to their acceptance or non-acceptance. (Those who are not accepted will not have their credit card charged.)"

I just saw this, and I do not care for their verbiage. It actually sounds like the entries are going to exceed the spaces available. My guess is that this group is larger than normal, due to the people who were turned away last year. Sigh. We wait.
Yeah, that's what I got out of it, too. I hate this.
So here's my "I'm reading way too much into their wording/getting nervous/hoping for the best" take on this. I think it's close. I think they are very close to their 8,000 limit, or they are slightly over it, and that's why their wording is vague. It might also be their canned response and people (I'm looking at you, FB & RW lol) are flipping out for no definite reason. Ya know, the whole "under promise & over deliver" stratgegy.
You are fine. I know you'll be tense until you get confirmation, but seriously, you are fine. I even think jordy is fine with her BQ-2:05. It sucks that my fall marathon isn't until November (when I think I'll BQ by a few extra minutes), but it is what it is. Even if we see a cut-off (and it sounds like we might), I don't think it will be what it was last year. Turn away 500 people? Maybe 1,000? Sure, but I don't think we're going to see 3,000 disappointed people again, with the 3,000 extra spots that were available.

I think we're reading the same forum posts right now.
Ugh, this is just going to lead to crazy obsessive email checking for the next week. I agree that people may be reading too much into it. It just sounds like a canned CYA response to me.
