Palates are still just sitting on the side, but I'm okay with that. It's light years better than the complex system of makeup bags I had going on before.
This is the blog I promised you. Really, if you search vintage wet set you'll pop up with plenty of ideas. You'll need setting lotion and you can use foam rollers or even those soft foam twisties. Unfortunately, it's not something that's simple to do and there you are. It make take a while to figure out what pattern works for your hair.
That blog has a link to a book called Vintage Hairstyling that you should get if you seriously want to recreate that look. I own it myself. It not only shows you a variety of styles but it goes in depth into how to roll, what directions, how to correct what didn't turn out the way you wanted, what direction to roll to get different results, etc.
The only thing that's universal about a wet set is that you cannot remove it until it's completely dry.
Awesome. Love this blog. I can do pin curls and I've done them before. But what I really need is some kind of hair wrap to protect my hair when I sleep. I'm a big fan of overnight hair. I hate to do my hair in the morning.
Buy a satin bonnet. You probably need to look near the ethnic hair care section, but any big box store should sale them.
I'm going on a spending freeze in January would I'm trying to decide if I need anymore makeup before Thursday. I want a dark lip color so I may go to MAC counter to play this week. Does anyone know of any sets that have all dark color lipsticks?
I would say pretty good still. I ordered a few bite mini's from the VIB sale last month and it did that to me... like immediately after I ordered, I clicked on order status and it said that the mini's were permanently out of stock. I'm guessing I ordered the very last of them because I got them. During big sales and holidays it seems like it takes an extra long time for them to process orders too, so I wouldn't worry too much about it yet.
Nope. Just got an email that my order was changed/cancelled because things were out of stock. They sent the other items but I don't want them anymore. I only ordered them because they took me up to VIB with the sale stuff I got. (Extras of my perfume and face cleanser). In the car now but will get on my real computer to contact customer service and complain. Ugh.
Can we talk brushes? Some of mine are pretty old and I need to upgrade. I want good brushes, but I don't want to break the bank either.
I use my finger for my concealer and liquid foundation, the sponge that comes in my powder foundation, a crappy all-over brush to soften and blend the foundation a little more if needed, my shadow brushes (all over, crease, blend, and liner) and blush.
So my last ever Ulta order shipped faster than I thought. So I was besides myself with excitement at the prospect of having my On The Rocks palette in 2014. On Friday, the tracking showed that it arrived at the UPS station a couple miles away at 6 a.m.!!! OMG!!!
But my excitement was short-lived, as it did not arrive at my house on Friday. Nor did it arrive over the weekend. Nor today. Instead, UPS tracking is saying that it is slated to arrive on Tuesday. WTF. This is the second time this has happened with Ulta - my order gets there and just sits around for a couple days. I have never had this happen with other companies, so I am convinced it's an Ulta issue, not a UPS issue.
UPS has already dropped off two packages of things I ordered online from Amazon and Ann Taylor that I placed after my Ulta package arrived at the UPS warehouse.
i ordered from sephora's sale on christmas day (and got to VIB, primarily thanks to this thread and it's previous versions!). my order status still says 'sent to warehouse' but several of the items are listed as 'permanently out of stock'. what are the chances that i will ever actually get these items?
I'm pissed because I need $85 more to get to VIB rouge, and I spent $88 two weeks ago at Sephora that apparently did not get credited to my account. They can credit me the points, but not the $ for VIB Rouge status. Seriously?!

All right, I have no idea why tinypic is flipping my photos, but I'm going to post anyway.
Yesterday's FOTD. I tried out applying shadow wet (Burberry Chestnut No.5) and got a little carried away. I was going to just use it as a liner but the brush I was using was too thick, so I just went with it and then lightened with N2's Foxy and Bootycall, with a smidge of Blackout to line. Lip is Stila gloss, several of them are so similar I'm not sure if I used Glint or Glimmer, lol. Face is BM.
Today:
For fun, I tossed a purple Nyx liquid liner in my cart at Target yesterday and used that to practice winged liner today, along with Dust and Burnout from Naked 3. Stila gloss, BM face. It's funny, the purple reads black in indoor light and then pops in natural light.
Maybe next time I'll remember to take pics with my eyes closed, too.

Real Techniques brushes. Order on Amazon. Inexpensive, but great quality.

Oh I would be SO mad!! Call the hotline again and see if you get a better answer. We are talking about free shipping here!

I would contact CS.
i talked to them tonight once i got home. i won't be getting the two things i really wanted from the sale - the becca tints kit and the josie maran winter dreams color set. the other two things i ordered just to get to VIB (perfume and cleanser to stock up). it was too late to cancel my order but they will refund my shipping since the total had dropped below 50 and i can return the things once they arrive to me. i didn't ask about my VIB status since i didn't want them to take it away from me. i'm still listed as a VIB when i login online and the order tells me my welcome kit has shipped too so i hope it stays.

I use a Beauty Blender for foundation. It's a pricey little sponge at $20, but the cheap knockoffs don't even come close. I clean mine with their Solid cleanser after every use, and it's held up beautifully over the last year. It gives me a lovely finish.
My original Real Techniques brushes get a lot of use for my face, but I don't love their eye brushes. I typically reach for my Elf "c" brush for packing on shadow, and a fluffy brush that came with a SOnia Kashuk set for blending.
And Marsala ? Looks like 2015 will be good for my wallet, as I'll be passing on a lot of shit.
Some people will be able to pull off Marsala nicely (albeit boringly) but who can wear sea green?! That just seems like such a universally difficult shade.

Shampoo liters are on sale at Ulta right now. I have about $30 in my cart. What do I need/want to bring my total up to $50 for free shipping? I can't think of anything.

I use a Beautyblender sponge for foundation and Sigma brushes for everything else. I also have a Tarte contouring brush. I absolutely love my Sigma brushes and my Beautyblender.
Pretty powdery. I think they may have changed the formula this year, but the ones I have are no better (and possibly worse) than Cover Girl shadows, which are super sheer when compared to something like UD.
I tried to use CG after using nicer shadows and it was... less than successful. So that is not a good drug store brand of shadow, IMO. And Sephora brand shadows are similar.
But I do LOVE the Sephora brand cream lip stain and 12 hour eye pencil.
