Mine was short when A was born. In all the pictures from that time, I look like my hair has never been brushed. With M it is fairly long. I wear it in a braid or bun and I look much more put together.

My hair is much easier when it's long because the weight handles the frizz. A pony was very important to me because dd pulls my hair as a lovey and I like to be able to pull it back and away from her.

No, I prefer to keep my hair long although I haven't actually been doing anything to my hair since she was born. I'm going to set up a keratin hair straightening appointment soon so I don't always have to put my hair in a bun due to frizz.
I look exactly like my mom and my mom has a pixie cut so...not ever gonna happen for me. We had matching perms when I was in fifth grade and I'm not going back to that dark place.
No, I've been tempted but I hear that short hair is more work than long. I plan to get something cut off of it next week, but I haven't decided how much. I'm actually going through a second run of hair loss now (I guess since dd2 is only nursing 3x a day?) and it's worse than the first, plus I have a bunch of 3in long hair from the first loss. My hair is looking rough.
My hair was below my bra strap and I cut off 8 inches when I was 37 weeks pregnant, in anticipation of post-partum hair loss and having less time to deal with long hair post-baby. It has been great. I can wash it quickly and don't have to spend tons of time de tangling it. It is now part-way between my chin and my shoulders, just out of the range of DS' spitting up.
I can pull it into a ponytail with some effort, but rarely do. I think I only did it when it was super hot out. I will likely let it grow out again just because I think I look better with longer hair, but I am all about convenience now.
I did nothing to deal w/ pp hair loss. I have a ton of hair, so although a lot was coming out, the difference wasn't noticeable.
I'm weirded out by people making promises to their husbands re their hair. Reminds me of saying you won't gain weight in a pre nup or something.
Are you equally weirded out by husbands not changing their appearance to please their wives? I think DH keeps his beard mostly because I like it so much.
On the hair loss thing, it wasn't noticeable on my head after I had DD 6 years ago, but the amount that got caught in our drain and had to be regulalry cleaned out was annoying. I just preferred not to deal with that again.
Being able to ponytail was non-negotiable for me....
Ha, me too. I'm a mom and a runner so a ponytail is a must! Though I've kept my hair long.
Same here. Between running and needing to keep it out of certain grubby fingers at work who like to yank my hair when I won't let them have what they want when they want it, ponytail option is a huge must. My hair was long (for me) at a few inches below my shoulders when I had AJ, and I cut it to just above shoulder length right before I went back to work.
I've been in a perpetual grow-it-cut-it cycle for many years. When DD was born, it was pretty short. I've been growing it, so now it's a little past my shoulders. But I'm sure I'll chop it again.
I always said I would never chop my hair off (my hair was elbow length at its longest) but after 16 months of continued hair loss (luckily my hair is thick so it isn't noticeable to others!) I had enough of my long hair clogging the drain and vacuum and finally chopped it off 2 weeks ago. I love it! So much easier to care for and style (I used to just throw it up in a bun every day). I thought it would be more work, but all I do is a little product and air dry. Wish I had done it months ago!
Not really a mom chop, but I had my hair cut and highlighted a week before my EDD and had my stylist take off a bit more in preparation for the hair loss.
Then shortly after returning to work I just had her trim more. I've been keeping it more shoulder length vs just past the shoulders since having E, but I have curly hair, so I can only go so short.

Random thoughts:
I have spent the majority of my life with short hair. I also kind of resent the terms "wedding chop" and "mom chop" and the implication that short hair is lazy and undesirable.
I kind of chuckle when people talk about "chopping off all their hair!" and ending up with shoulder length hair. That is not short hair to me at all.
I don't really understand how shoulder length hair vs elbow length hair is that much easier to deal with hair loss wise. I mean, the hair is still every-fucking-where. The baby-bangs are still way shorter than your normal hair. Does it make that much of a difference?
Anyway, I did get a digital perm post baby so that I can sleep on wet hair and wake up with cute waves instead of seaweed-on-a-rock flat hair. But I don't think a dramatic trim would have helped me all that much. I'm really just embracing messy hairstyles and trying to pretend they are on purpose.
No. I don't have super long hair but I prefer it to reach at least to my collar bones. It's way easier to put it in a bun or braid or something. Short hair is so much more work to me.
I am kind of LOLing that shoulder length is short hair. I'm pretty sure that's not what most people mean by short.
Mine is just past my shoulders and it's longer than it's ever been. It needs a trim now as it's straggly looking but I am enjoying the length. I do think it's easier to style and make look put together than the angled bob thing I did after DD. The trims alone to keep that up was enough work.

Nope, I went the other way. I used mat leave as an excuse to grow my pixie cut out. Short hair is awesome, I loved it, but I'm cheap and getting it cut every 6-8 weeks is too much.

I did after Nods was born. Mostly because my hair was falling out so much. I also have this cycle where I won't get a haircut for 2-3 years then I'll get out cut pretty short. My profile picture was right after that last cut. I don't really want to cut my hair this time and would rather keep if long, but we will see what it looks like in a couple months. My main reason for keeping it longer now is because Nods uses it as a lovey. Sometimes in the morning she will lay next to me in bed playing wih my hair, having the extra length gives me a little more space.
When I did get it cut short, I went to a high end stylist, so cut it well knowing I still sad losing hair. His cuts are so good that they look great even when they grow out.

I went from maybe 6" past my shoulders to a couple inches past chin length when I had J. It's back to long-ish now. I enjoy being able to put it in a ponytail, plus my hair is frizzy if I don't blow-dry and put product in, so longer is less maintenance for me.

I haven't yet...I've cut it short (about chin length) twice in my life; otherwise, it's always about boob length. I've always regretted it when I cut it short, plus my husband likes it long, and regardless of the length I always need to blow dry and style it if I don't want it to look completely terrible.
I have always shed a ton and my hair still looks fine, but this shedding is really freaking me out. Like a huge handful after I wash and condition, and then another huge handful when I brush it out...it still looks fine, but I fear I'm going to go bald or something soon. Then I will have to reassess things.
