Wow! I'm totally late to this and just wanted to say hiiii and you're a rockstar for doing this. I want in on the punky/nata playdate too But do we have to bring the kids? LOL
1. Apartment porn pronto! Also, post on H&G! 2. Do you drive to the Boston area to visit your parents? If so, have you ever considered pit stopping in RI? 3. Thanks for doing this. It was fascinating and awesome. 4. I did not suspect you made this much money from your posts. You are very down to earth. (I mean this as a compliment!) 5. I'm sorry you didn't get that gummy bear light!
We have one car. We live in the city, and one car is a luxury. We leased our last car for two years to see how it felt to have one, if we used it, how much parking cost (OMG), etc, and then we just bought one after the lease was up. It's hopefully being delivered this week.

Okay, so other than you being a super cool person, the only other thing I got from this is that I can have beer with lunch?!? Today's going to be the best day ever!

What kind of car?
A Tesla Model S. Definitely falls in the splurge category of our life, but no more pumping gas!

I'm having a champagne play date with another working widow mom this afternoon. CHEERS.

Fuck, I've been doing this SAHM thing wrong this whole time. I need to find better mom friends!

212, you really are an awesome chick to be so open about everything on this thread! You definitely seem like you'd be fun to hang out with!
Okay, here's another question. The people you hang out with that are swimming in gobs of money -- what are their attitudes toward all the privileged stuff they get to do? Like, are they braggy about it (I'm guessing not or you wouldn't hang out with them), or are they more nonchalant, like, "oh, I think I'm headed to Paris on my private jet tomorrow to do some back to school shopping with my kid. No big." And either way, please share the most hysterical examples :-)
Do you ever come up to Westchester? We should meet up!
Yes! I have great friends that left after the babies came, so we go out there a lot. Most of my mom city friends work, so we're will-travel-for-play-dates people.
Question about your H: With crazy long hours like his, does he ever really get down time? And how is his health/stress level? My H is a workaholic but he goes to the gym and eats mostly health foods during the work week. If he has several crazy weeks in a row, though, he is a tired/bedraggled/5 o'clock-shadowed dude. Your H's hours seem similar to my H's "crazy" weeks. How does he deal?
I'm so, so late to this, but 212, is there a reason you don't want to just hire someone full-time? Maybe someone who can do nanny and housekeeping duties, so when you need a kid break you can have one, and when you want to just have fun with your kid you can do that while s/he folds your laundry? That sounds amazing to me.

1. Just took a pic of the kitchen. I'll add in a second.
2. Yes! Often. Every month. And I've dropped another MMM in RI on the way north. lol
I know someone who's brother is a chess master (not sure of exact title) and he is hired by affluent parents to teach their kids how to win at chess. He travels all over apparently and is compensated great and he makes his own hours.

My neighbor has this and I always think it sounds pretty fabulous! She goes to classes, takes naps, and other things while the lady is with her son, then when she has her son, the lady is cleaning her house.

Can I ask other people questions too? Lawyers making lower incomes - why? Job pressure? Security? Enjoyment? Better hours? I just considered the cost to become a lawyer and then taking a job that is barely covering SL costs. Maybe I am too $$ focused but doesn't make sense for me. Also live on HCOL.
I know its late, but I'll chime in. Because I work 8-4:30, get most state and federal holidays off and have some flexibility. I do get called at night and have to do some weekend work, but it is nothing like the stories you read about on MM with BigLaw.
