DS also complains about button pants. The "pull-on jeans" at TCP adjust a little bit. But the "pull-on cargo pants" have a drawstring INSIDE the waistband that is extremely adjustable. You can pull them very tight. Here's a pic of DS's pants. They are soft, comfy, and DS loves to "look like daddy." FYI they run a little big.
4T! Whoa! I think I might have some of those at home but I haven't pulled them out yet because they are 2T which still falls off DS. If they have the drawstring maybe they would be ok. Would tying them make it a pain to get on and off for diaper changes?
Yeah he's 40 pounds! He's kind in between right now, some 3T is snug and some 4T like the CP cargos are too big. I have like 5 pairs of the cargos in 2T if you're interested, PM me!
If they fit in the crotch area then DS generally doesn't need them tied at all. But he has no problem untying the bow on the drawstring. I would have to re-tie it though. But I assume your 3yo DS still needs help while pottying (wiping and whatnot) so tying the bow is NBD. Especially if he's complaining about button pants.
For people actively shopping for boys 12+ months - if you're looking for better brands at cheaper prices, try ThredUp. I got quite a bit of stuff on there recently for reasonable prices. I can do better if I consignment shop, but lately I have had zero time or motivation to shop consignment sales and go to a million stores. They often run promo codes (and I think you can get 40% off your first order for signing up to their email list, and if you want a referral link I can give you one and you'll get a $10 credit). I've been really happy with everything I ordered and I like the variety they have.
Clarks is having a kids' shoe sale right now in store - buy one pair, get a 2nd half off. They also added a $10 off in-store coupon, so I ended up with 2 pairs of leather shoes for $30 total.
They are a nice hybrid with some sneaker features, with a non-athletic look.
I didn't even know Clarks sold kids shoes. DS needs these, right?
I would think the leather cord holding them closed will break in 2 seconds flat. DH had a shirt with a leather cord like that and it broke the first time it got wet. Like SNAP.

THIS IS GREAT STUFF. Thank you Brie! I am totes buying this sweater and these slippers. Car slippers Ashley&Scott!
Almost all of my kids clothes come from Next Direct. It is awesome. We lived in London when my son was born so we have always bought their clothes there.
What's the quality like? How does the sizing run? Is it going to take weeks to ship here from the UK?
Specifically shoes. I have never ordered shoes in UK sizes. DS wears a toddler 10, so in UK that's a 9 right?
Thanks to Brie I have $100 of stuff in my cart LOL.

Yes, a 10 us shoe is 9. Sizes run true to size to slightly big. Quality is great, comes in like 3 days, via dhl or ups, it changes. You do have to sign for it.

They are regular shoelaces, not leather.
Also, I am not buying my kid $75 shoes, so it is a moot point.
Ah ok. It looks like a leather cord in the pic you posted.
::shrug:: I am buying DS these $65 SKR boots on Black Friday when DH's bonus comes in.

Thanks! Time to sell DS's old stuff like SKR shoes on the BST board for some spendin' moola!
I love it actually! I have found some great clothes for dirt cheap (sales).<script type="text/javascript" src="safari-extension://com.ebay.safari.myebaymanager-QYHMMGCMJR/15fb4ddd/background/helpers/prefilterHelper.js"></script>
-Colors other than blue, green, red, and brown! I love purple and pink and yellow on boys, and it's hard to find.
-Prints beyond stripes and plaid. Houndstooth, windowpane, graphic prints, etc.
-Death to the boys like dogs, girls like cats thing. My kid likes both but cat stuff is always girly.
-Fewer t-shirts that seem to play to masculinity stereotypes, like "tough guy" or "all star" or "chicks dig me"
-More interesting pants/bottoms. I love Baby Gap's striped playtime favorite pants in bright colors.
Ya DS is supposed to wear purple to school tomorrow and I forgot. It should be fun driving all over creation to find something today. (He will wear it again bc it's the color for K or else I would send him in the purplish blue shirt I have that will surely only look blue with a bunch of actual purple)
lindyanne - When DS wore purple to school we just borrowed our neighbor's daugther's purple skinny jeans
@supergreen - You spending $65 on boots make me more confident that I should buy these ones for DS. I love them so.
That's a great idea but we have one neighbor girl his age and she is TINY - so they would be like floods if she did have any. All the other girls are older. I'm checking Target and Kohls and if they don't have anything running to the craft store with my fingers crossed.
I've been looking everywhere for a cute pair of yellow rain boots with handles that isn't too expensive. DS has several hand me down pairs of various colors but he needs an in-between sizes that will probably only fit him for a couple of months. I've looked online and at a bunch of kids stores. The clerk at J&J said it's too early in the season and they may have them in a couple of weeks, but it's been raining a ton where we live.
I don't know what is considered cute as far as yellow rainboots, but I was actually just considering these earlier this week.
I like Kmart boys clothes. They are pretty good quality and they have some different styles. My mom got him some plaid shorts with tshirt sets. The tshirts have a design but it is not hideous. Even at 7 he still prefers elastic waist bands and Kmart has shorts and pants with those. I wish all our Kmarts hadn't closed near us.

I'm 30 and I still prefer elastic waist bands too.
I have found shopping for DS has become more and more difficult as he's gotten older. I loved all the sweet baby clothes with graphics like teddy bears and jungle animals, but I can't stand the skulls/skateboards/sports graphics in boy clothes. His fall wardrobe is pretty much all stripes and plaid.
My biggest problem is I still prefer elastic waist pants for him, but now that he's outgrown 5T, I'm not really finding elastic waists anymore. He just doesn't look comfortable. Granted, I may be projecting because I refused to wear non elastic pants until 7th grade.
