we aren't allowed to see the parts, so I have no idea if I'd be good at this game! we wanted to know so the tech wrote it in the report and we found out from our midwife days later. h tried really hard to look for it when we got our 5 second peek at the end of the formal a/s, but she just avoided that region. damn Canada and it's laws.
Wow. BC must be different from Ontario. The tech showed us that she couldn't see because baby had her legs closed. At the 36w us they also showed me very clearly.
it is. I dont think the prairies are as strict either. Nova Scotia has waned in either direction. my sils found out for some of their pregnancies and had to wait for the doctor with others. bc might be a little more lenient in the rural areas, too. I don't know. but the techs here are militant about it.
my midwife knew we wanted to know and told me to remind the tech to note it in the report. so I get in the u/s room and say, "I know you can't tell me, but we'd like to know the sex if it can be identified so please make a note for my midwife." she gets super huffy and is all, "I can't TELL you the sex, but your doctor might tell you if I can even see it." uhhh.... isn't this exactly what I asked for?? friends have had similar experiences with different techs. I'm sure they get pestere relentlessly, but she was unnecessarily rude about it.
We were team green and had several scans. I could generally identify the head, hands & feet. Everything else was just... blob.
They did have us look away during any scan when they were in the general area. Both DH & I admitted to peeking during the 'look away' time and neither of us could figure out what we were looking at.
Although once my file fell on the floor at the OBs and paperwork fell out regarding circumcision authorization. That could have been my clue.
The OB said it's included in everyone's file no matter what, as there are still surprise boys when they think it's a girl. But she might have just been playing along so we stayed team green.

Nope, half the time I had no idea what they were looking at. I mean I could pick out the head and when they were looking at a bone but exactly which bone (arm vs leg) I wasn't always sure
Nope. We were team green and the tech turned the screen when confirming the sex. MH works in healthcare and I was concerned he would be able to tell. Either he could and he's kept it quiet or the tech was discrete.
DH couldn't go to the scan with me, so I told the tech to write on on a piece of paper in an envelope which I'd later open together with DH. She told me to look away from the screen when she was looking at certain parts. We have a girl.

The first time we didn't want to know and told the tech right away, and I'm thinking she made an effort to hide it from us, because in the shots we saw, nothing was obvious.
This time we wanted to know, though we didn't say anything about it right away. One early view we got made it pretty obvious that it's a boy, and then she confirmed it for us at the end. So if we had planned on being Team Green this time, we might have been a little bothered, but who knows if we would have seen that view if we'd said something.
Yes, I noticed right at the start. I didn't want to ask any questions about it because I wanted her to be able to do her "stuff" that needed to be done. After she was finished she asked if we wanted to know. I told her I was pretty sure it was a boy and she said I was right.

With DS#1, we avoided finding out and therefore couldn't tell b/c there were no shots. With DS#2, we weren't finding out, but one shot when she put the wand on my belly and bam, we both knew. Neither of us let on until right before I had DS (like a day before), but it was obvious to DH and me. For DS#3, we didn't want to know and the tech moved the screen when she was starting and near the femur/stomach, so we didn't know b/c we couldn't see.
It seems like it would have been impossible to be Team Green, even if we'd wanted to be.
Discuss.
I told the technician I didn't want to know, so she told me when to look away. This is what made it possible to stay Team Green. DD was there, but she didn't make any comments about seeing anything (she wanted to know).

I didn't even really see it even after the tech pointed it out at all the ultraounds (we had 2 with DD1 and 2 with DD2 where they looked for it and printed pictures and stuff for stuff). My husband always knows exactly what he's looking at on the ultrasound screen and the techs always ask if he's in the medical field.... he works for a nut/bolt/screw company lol

We told her we didn't want to know and she turned the screen away. She said that since the doctor doesn't need any measurements there she didn't even check or know.
They had us look away for a few seconds during the anatomy scan (and a repeat scan at 28 weeks based on a weird thing they saw at that scan) because we wanted to wait for delivery.

We were team green and the u/s tech told us it was "obvious" what the baby was (boy). She had us look away until she found the baby so she could make sure to not be on that part, and then would have us look away when checking out that area.

Nope. Baby girl had one hand on her face and the other in her crotch, lol. The tech wouldn't comment on sex, but we already knew from M21. She still wouldn't commit, though, which made us laugh.
Yes, I was able to tell easily with all four pregnancies. #4 (boy) was abundantly clear at our 12 week scan, actually. That was our first 12 week u/s, the others were all 16-20w.
With both it was obvious... My H was late to the ultrasound with number 2, and she was waiting to tell me the sex when he got there, but I already knew from seeing "the goods." I knew pretty quickly into the ultrasound.

Harder with the girls, but the boy was ridiculously apparent from the first second the doc put the wand on my belly. I was thinking girl and when he put the wand in my belly it was all penis. My classy response? "What the hell is that!?!?!?"
I'm team green for my twins and have never seen anything. When they do leg measurements I look away. I'm not sure if they're squished so legs arent apart or what.
