Aw, poor E.
We had a great evening. We had homemade pizza (and beer) for dinner and went for a walk with the cozy coupe. M is obsessed with walking the dogs, and thought it was great fun when we put the little dog in his truck.
I'm on a plane to vegas for a bachelor party & wedding. whee 36 hours without thinking (much) about work! Also I am going to be the old fuddy-duddy who leaves the party early to go starfish the hotel bed. I regret nothing etc etc.
msniq is solo parenting today and tonight and joining me (baby-free) for the wedding tomorrow. grandma is around to help out here and there, but still, hang in there, msniq!

Don't worry, it's 8 pm here and DD is in no mood to sleep or eat yet is full of energy and climbing everywhere. I am exhausted from watching her. ANd she only napped 70 minutes total today, 30 minutes of which while I was driving and doing an errand. I showered and got ready during the other nap.
I even tried putting her in the stroller to go for a walk after dinner, but she started crying and acting so sleepy! So I ran home and took her out to go put her in the crib and guess who forgot she was so tired 5 minutes earlier?
DS had a fever today, so I picked him up from DC and took him to the dr because I was worried it was an ear infection. Nope, a virus. He's in bed but was just up crying (has been down for an hour). I feel bad for the little guy. It sucks to have a sick kid.
dd1's preschool teacher sent me a text tonight checking on her because she got slammed into a door at school today. dude, she was racing to be the line leader, even though it wasn't her day to be the line leader, no wonder the real one decked her. did she really think I was worried about a tiny bruise on her cheek? this is why i will never relate to truly nice people.
I just got back from a work related fundraiser for a service organization that gives my department grants for stuff. There was wine. My mom picked AJ up from the sitters, fed him, and put him to bed. While I drank wine. I love this day.
Also I am psyched for 3 kid-free nights and a red eye overnight in Vegas in November! Caesar's Palace woot! I am looking into shows I can see. The only *slight* negative is the head of the department is going to the same conference (different flights and hotel though), and I fear awkward dinners. He is really awesome and we get along great but I just don't like fancy dinners alone with co-workers who aren't friends. Weirdo?
I'm totally awkward with people at work but on a one on one chill situation I am actually relaxed so maybe if this guy is already cool then once you are at a casual setting you can have a good time. If not, eat somewhere with lots of tvs?

DH is working late again tonight so I'm trying to figure out dinner/bath/dog walk and I don't feel like doing any of it. The boys are currently happy in their sand box but in order to make dinner I have to drag them inside. Unhappy campers ahead.

If you like The Beatles, I highly recommend LOVE. It is excellent.

not sure how old your kid is, but this is when I would say eff it, go watch Frozen. Mama needs a break.
9 months. She doesn't understand watching TV yet. We keep it on with the hopes that something will mesmerize her. So far Chica the chicken catches her attention for like 2 minutes if we're lucky.
I wound up just laying on the living room floor and letting her climb all over me. I bathed her and she finally fell asleep at 8:45 pm. This is early by her standards though. Probably because she napped so little today and I didn't let her take that post-dinner nap she was threatening to take in the stroller.
My nerves are shot today. Our next door neighbors are in the process of removing their driveway (which involved constant pounding and metal-on-asphalt scraping all day long). DS wouldn't nap as a result, and wouldn't even sleep in the car. At one point there was some blessed silence and then DS let out a blood curdling shriek, just to test out his lungs. Getting him down for the night took some work. I just dove face first into a giant glass of wine.
ETA: Oh, and guess when the construction started? At 7 o'fucking clock AM. I was so pissed. Our city has a noise ordnance that was completely ignored. If it was a one-and-done thing I'll politely ignore it, but holy Jesus, their contractor sucks.
DD did not nap AT ALL today. 12 hours straight of toddler antics. I am exhausted.
I'm so sorry. We've had a few days with insanely short naps and I was DONE by the end of those days.
YES. I got a 20 min car nap at noon today and it was just ridiculously bad. meanwhile the 3 year old slept 2.5 hrs and it took all of my attention to keep the baby from banging on her door to wake her up.
My 18 yo brother's cell phone all the sudden stopped working a few weeks ago. Straight to voicemail but he's not exactly super up with texting etc so I wasn't immediately worried. He lives with my crazy ass mom and it wouldn't surprise me at all if she took his phone. But my dad called me earlier and had me all freaked out about my brother and convinced me that I should stop in where he works to make sure everything is okay. Except that he works on the other side of town, but it was conveniently somewhat near a Nordstrom Rack, so that's where we spent the afternoon. . I found lots of Tea for DD, some dresses for only $10. They also had revas but not in my size so I resisted. By doing so I missed out on the American girl thread earlier so it's probably a wash lol.
Anyway. I met up with my brother, he's fine, just dragging his feet on replacing his bum phone. I wish he would move out of my mom's house but I have to remind myself that I didn't have that sort of strength at all at 18.
Now I'm a few glasses on wine in and DH is already asleep. Exciting times friends!

I'm popping in tonight after being away from this board for like 6 months. I have had a hard time fitting in Internet time since going back to work in February. I miss you all and the support and advice, etc.
Betsy is three days without using a bottle to go to bed, which makes us totally bottle/nursing free. Big relief with that.
