We had a wedding last night and got to bed a little later than usual. DD didn't go and was up this morning at 6am. DH was up at 5am and left for a week long hunting trip to Canada. He'll be back next Sunday night. I love DD and our two dogs but I'm not looking forward to doing it all alone this next week.
Due to a combination of DH working late, sick kids, and me being lazy I've run 0 times this week. My 13 mile long run today is either going to be great or awful!

DH was supposed to be home tomorrow. Damn Air France strike means he had to re-book and won't be home until Monday. This is the fourth time this year he's done this 10 day trip to Africa, but for some reason this one feels a lot longer than the others.
DD #2s birthday party was yesterday. Pretty successful, IMO...the kids all seemed to have fun. But now we can't find the cape to her Anna costume anywhere. I've turned the house upside down and even went through the garbage three times. At this point I would bet money that one of the guests took it home, probably accidentally b/c she happened to be wearing it (they were passing it around at the end and I wasn't paying attention because I was getting favor bags together, answering the door, making sure the right parent got the right kid, etc.). You'd think the parent would notice that once they got home and let me know, but we'll see. If it doesn't turn up DD is refusing to wear the costume for Halloween, which on the upside means I don't have to go out ToTing. I'll buy my own candy and that way I definitely get what I like. :-)
Apparently my randoms are all of the venting variety this morning. I should have stayed in bed. :-)
ETA - one of DDs friends remembered that the cape was "behind a tent in a small closet". Sure enough, it was stuffed inside a small doll wardrobe that was in a corner behind the girls play tent. Crisis averted!

L has been an absolute delight these past few days! He's still not sleeping great at night but he has been waking up super happy, taking epic morning naps, and then being in a great mood all afternoon. On Friday we did a shopping trip to a city 45 minutes away and he didn't cry in the car at all. He was happy and smiley in the stores and I even got to try stuff on!
Yesterday we went to that baby blessing I posted about and he was in the best mood ever, smiling and laughing at everyone. He just eats up the attention! It was 40 minutes away and again no car seat crying!
We are getting close to 6 months and I keep hearing that things get easier then. Perhaps it's true!
I have decided not to buy baby clothes from Old Navy on principle. They have some decent basics, but what's up with all the "bachelor," "muscles courtesy of dad" and "boys will be boys" crap? This last one annoys me the most.
DH took DD to church and then for a bike ride so I'm alone for another Sunday morning. I need to do some work for my grad class but instead here I sit GBCNing and loading things into my HA shopping bag. Like my girl needs more clothes.
And I'm still damn pregnant. I'm getting so impatient and I don't know why. I know it's normal to go to 41 weeks but I'm still very annoyed. All I want is to go into labor naturally instead of being induced like I was with DD1. It's not looking hopeful.
We're headed to go apple picking in a few minutes. And by apple picking I mean I'm about to go stuff myself with freshly fried doughnuts.
H doesn't like one of the apple orchards near us because it's "too commercialized." Maybe, yes. But they have ahhhhhmazing pumpkin and cinnamon sugar donuts. I like to get a dozen with half of each. It's the only time all year I eat donuts!
We're supposed to go to a lunch after church and bring a side or dessert. I forgot about it and am 1 ingredient short of everything I can think to make. Garlic mashed potatoes = I have 3 potatoes. Pumpkin bread = I used all the cloves last time I made pumpkin bread and forgot to buy more. Spinach salad = I have spinach, apples, walnuts, goat cheese....and no dressing and my balsamic vinegar is, I think, due to be replaced. *I* would eat it. I'm not confident enough to serve it to others.
I taught DS How to hit the monkey in his bouncy chair to make the ball roll and now he's doing it. He looks quite proud of himself every time it spins.
Am I crazy or is that amazing hand eye coordination for a 2-month old?
We drove 8 hours to the ILs on Thursday and back home again yesterday. I am so.damn.sick of being in the car! My PG self was soooo uncomfortable. Gas pains, leg cramps, headache, nausea, all from being in the car too long. I'm glad to be home.
On the upside, DS was an absolute sweetheart. He didn't nap in the car (ack!) but happily watched Cars and Cars 2 over and over. No crying at all! He loved the snacks I packed, he didn't bitch about being changed in the car (he's terrified of restaurant fold-down changing tables), and is starting to have a sense of time. So he kinda understood what "one more hour" meant. He was our rock star!
DS is really into the Wild Kratts show on PBS. It's pretty cute!
DD is rolling around on the floor by herself, perfectly content.
I am sitting on my phone doing some online shopping.
Today may be a good day for the cider mill!
ETA: DH vetoed the cider mill since it will still be in the mid-70s today and not true cider mill weather yet. This just gives me more time to come up with the perfect fall outfits for the kids for a cider mill outing

Heading to gymnastics class in a bit, then I think we will have a mommy daughter lunch at panera. Planning to grocery shop after nap (fingers crossed she actually naps today!) and dinner at my parents'.
I met humpforfree yesterday! She brought amazing desserts. Best kind of company.
I am on the train on the way to a baby show. Just DD and I, DH gets the morning and most of the afternoon to himself. I am lucky I get on the train on an early stop, the train is full of strollers and I managed to get a seat.
We picked a name last night and have decided to be team green - Alexander if it is a boy, Alexandra if it is a girl. So we can call 'it' Alex in the meantime. I half expect DH to change his mind about liking it between now and May but for now it is a plan. I like plans.
DDs nursery has a Dr Seuss theme and the new nursery will be Eric Carle. So excited!
Every year we take the preschoolers to a tiny little apple orchard. The provided snack has always been popcorn which isn't my first choice for a bunch of 4 year olds. When I called to set up the trip this year they told me they've made some changes, and amongst other things, each child will now get an apple cider donut for snack, not popcorn. I was so excited to hear that, like far too excited about something that's still a good month away!
We are headed to an apple orchard in a few minutes. I've never been. It'll be me, MIL, my sister, and C, as FIL and H are apparently installing a new garbage disposal today.
I'm so tired and my house still looks like Mickey Mouse threw up all over it.
Update: I just woke up! The nap was dicey at times as I had to replace the paci approximately 20 times between 8 and 9, haha. But I feel more rested now!

This is awesome!
Can you go back to sleep during his epic morning naps?
At what age do we need to be more mindful of having the TV on? I'm pretty sure DS is watching Sunday NFL Countdown.
Seems like it was around that age that we turned the tv off if DS was awake. There was a point in time when he was clearly watching it and I really didn't like that.

I have considered cutting back on background tv now that my 19 month old says "elmo more more" when the TV goes off. Elmo is his name for all cartoon characters.

We were supposed to go hang out downtown today, but I am still sick. DH is being awesome about being the sole parent while I spend all of my time in the guest room, but I'm so over this. DD keeps asking when I'm going to be better. Urgent care this morning confirmed that it's just a bad upper respiratory infection, but I have some wheezing and get totally exhausted from doing the smallest things, so I'm trying to keep my distance because I really don't want her to get this. I miss her a ton.
We had an impromptu gathering at our house yesterday after a football game. H made amazing jambalaya and de was adorable. It was so fun to see friends. I'm sliiiightly hung over, but only slightly.
H took de grocery shopping with him and I have the house to myself. It is glorious.
