Start strong with my off-season training (September was a nightmare, so I decided to wait until the beginning of October) Make a dent in losing all the weight I've put on since IM (it's REAL bad...) Make some good progress with the Ph.D. research, and stop disappointing my adviser (No, he hasn't said that. I just feel like I am.) Be okay with not actively trying to date. If someone awesome falls in my lap, fine. But I've had terrible luck with men lately, and I'm tired of it.
Mine are: -Get my long run in the weekend I'm in a wedding in CO. I don't need to make excuses -Get my diet in check. Lose a few pounds to get down to running weight. And to either cut out Wine Wednesdays or Party Friday. I NEED to only drink 1x/week. -PR (and hopefully place) in my 5k at the end of October. -Pull a decent time in my half in the middle of this month. -Survive this month. It's weekends are jam packed and I honestly already want it to be over!

Whaaaaaa??? When/where?!?! H&F GTG??
I wish, but we have to be down in the Springs on Fri and Sat. And then our flight leaves at noon on Sunday (we didn't plan that correctly, considering we know there will be copious amounts of booze).
We are trying to figure out a long weekend in CO though - we lived there for 5 years and miss it so much!! GTG then, no doubt!
-lift twice a week -PT exercises 5 days a week -no speedwork other than tempos until mid-October (yes, that's a goal...it's weird, I know, but I'm working on my head right now) -only drink on Fri/Sat nights -no snacking after 7pm

Ah-EM - My friends and I are having a girls' weekend next weekend.

Finish my first half marathon on the 19th.
Finish reading NROLW and be ready to start by November (or earlier, but I don't really feel the need to push myself to start it before my HM is done).
Do some more research on an idea I have for work. I'm the agency wellness ambassador, I kind of fell into it this year but the people who have done it in the past haven't been very proactive and I want to change that.
Hopefully start mentoring for the beginning runners training group I started with. I haven't been told that I've officially been selected yet, but unofficially I have unless they have a very small turnout.
Pilates class at least three times and swim at least six times.
Continue healing muscle strain (I strained it in April, it was almost healed, and I reinjured it in the beginning of September), sprained ankle, aggravated knee, and iffy shoulder, and avoid new injuries.
Complete two double digit long runs and two 8ish milers. Finish my half on the 12th and PR (I should easily PR, but it's a hilly course, so I know it won't be as fast as what I'm capable of). Total 50+miles. Go to CrossFit 4x a week. Cut out eating out and clean up my diet a bit, I've not been horrible, but I've been slacking some.
Have another 30 mile month (or more), hopefully with a nice long run or two while we are in Colorado for a wedding/mini vacation (Telluride trail suggestions, anyone?).
Start making my long runs longer (currently at about 6 miles).
Good luck everyone!! Oct looks huge around here! Lots of luck especially to @g22.
My goals: Go sub 2hrs in Nike Women's SF half, recover and transition to lead up to my trail half in early Nov
Also, I'm going to try to make some diet tweaks- I'm going to try to make my own almond milk the whole month and look for hidden refined sugar to eliminate.
Pick up more yoga, take a Tri training break, figure out wtf is wrong with my diet, and train to hike Machu Picchu in November :-)
This is amazing! You have to post a recap when you are back. I really want to take the kids in a year or two- you'll have to let me know if it's something little guys could do
Thanks. I'm going through my first IVF cycle so I'm hoping for the best Good luck to you also!
As one who has been on the successful end of IVF (after not so successful attempts), if you have any questions or just want to vent feel free to PM me. Good luck. I'll be praying for you
My goal for October is to do Whole 30 and just enjoy the fall running season. I don't have any races scheduled this month, but may do a last minute one.
I'm not racing in October, so I can use the month to work on bike skills and building up endurance. I also need to continue working on eating well and losing weight. It would make things so much easier!

Good luck, everyone!
Mine is to finish (and kick ass!) the 50 mile charity bike ride on October 12th! I'd also like to raise $1,400 as it is a charity near and dear to my heart. BF and I drove the course yesterday and there are some HILLS. gulp!
Also, I'd like to get up to running 5 miles without stopping. I'm currently at 3.
October is a crazy month for me. I have two normal weeks coming up, then a week of working overnights (which I have never done before and I am terrified... I am SO not a night person!), then DH and I are off to Nepal!
My goal is to cut the shit out of my diet and get some solid cross training/strength training in between now and when we leave. My weight has been creeping up during marathon training. The marathon is over, so no more excuses.
My other goal for myself is to introduce myself to at least one new person per week at a running group I've started going to. I'm an introvert at heart, so this is challenging for me. But I've done it two weeks in a row now, and I have ended up having a great time both times.

I definitely will. How old will yours be? I'll keep my eye out on the trail to see if I see any kids of similar age when we are there!
