I don't think she's as dumb as she tries to portray herself. I feel bad for her kids and that's as far as my sympathy goes. As far as Joe that guy has no moral compass. Just last season he was calling her a c@$t bitch at a vineyard to "someone" on the phone. It doesn't matter who he was talking to. That's the mother of his kids. He's a pig and I hope he gets a full sentence.
I have a friend who follows Milania Guidice on IG. I side eyed the shit out of that. One, you're a grown woman following a kid on IG. Two, why does she have a public IG with 10k+ followers?
What time is the sentencing? Sorry if this has this been answered.
It sounds like it is happening right now. Radaronline is saying they were to speak to the court at 9 and the judge was to sentence at 10. These are east coast times.
EWARK — U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas is not happy with how forthcoming Teresa and Joe Giudice of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” fame have been on their pre-sentencing forms and she has even brought up the possibility of them being charged with perjury.
Salas is lecturing the couple about the "glaring omissions" in both Joe and Teresa Giudice’s financial disclosure forms. Salas read off recreational vehicles, home furnishings, cars, construction equipment -- all not reported to the probation office by the couple but listed on federal prosecutor's documents. She said she feels the couple is concealing something.
Teresa, for instance, lists 0 for her jewelry on the forms, but her defense attorney said that most of her jewelry is worth very little because it is costume jewelry. The couple listed $25,000 in furnishings for their $3 million home but the defense attorney said that’s because the furnishings seen on TV are brought in by the production company.
The judge then went on to list seven other items not listed on any court documents that were later discovered by government investigators.
"How is it that at this point the court is having to go over this?" Salas asked the Giudice's defense attorneys.
Both offered little explanation except to say that the couple had hired an accountant and provided that person with their financial information.
Salas also hit on the lateness of the filings. The Giudices had the required forms to turn into the court by March 4 but the probation office didn't receive the information until Aug. 19, she said.
"I had to put the sentencing off because the financial disclosure wasn't in," Salas said.
The judge set the guideline range to begin arguments for Joe Giudice at 37 to 46 months and Teresa Giudice at 21 to 27 months. Neither is eligible for probation unless they are granted a downward departure or variance in the sentencing as arguments continue.
Both face restitution of $414,588.90. Joe faces a fine of between $7,500 and $75,000. Teresa faces a fine of $5,000 to $50,000.
Emerging from a white Mercedes Benz GL450 with tinted windows shortly before 9 a.m., they walked to the courthouse flanked by their lawyers and security guards. They were stone-faced and did not answer questions. She wore a black pants suit with gold shirt; he had on a black suit with blue shirt and black tie.
Giudice and his wife, of Montville, pleaded guilty in March to conspiring to fraudulently obtain millions of dollars in mortgages and loans by falsifying applications over an eight-year period. They also admitted hiding assets from a bankruptcy trustee and Joe Giudice said he had failed to file one year’s tax returns.
Joe Giudice faced between 37 and 46 months in prison for his role, which he has repeatedly said was much greater than his wife’s. Her lawyer plans to argue for her to serve probation.
Barricades were set up from Mulberry Street to the courthouse steps, leaving a path for the Giudices to enter the courthouse for their 10 a.m. sentencing. The media was out in force with at least 17 camera crews — including Extra, E!, Insider and Inside Edition — shooting their arrival.
Now, reporters who are waiting for the Giudices to leave the courthouse after their sentencing are speculating about whether she’ll get sent to jail. Crews have already set up a staging area for the post-sentencing press conference.
Cathy Gray of Lyndhurst didn’t get to the courthouse in time for their arrival but later she was waiting outside. “I’m a big fan of the show and I wanted to catch a glimpse of Teresa and Joe going in. I think he's definitely getting time. I think they broke the law many times over."
Teresa was a favorite of hers, now not so much. "Even on the show, she says she doesn’t know why this happened. I know why."
They each pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and three counts of bankruptcy fraud – by concealing assets, falsifying court filings and falsely testifying.
WHOAH Theresa is definitly getting time. The judge started arguments at 21 months. She must be devastated. I just read a great time line of how the crimes were commited and when. I honestly feel bad for her because my H's cousin was a mortgage broker in NNJ at the time. He TOLD US to get a " stated income loan" where we could say we made anything we wanted ( at the time we had a combined income of like 65K we were just out of school) and then get a balloon payment at the end and he could get us into " YOUR DREAM HOUSE."
I can see Theresa totally falling for this if Joe and some slick broker pitched it to her. And then she just keeps signing because the house was under construction for 5 years and it just snowballs from there. She is just greedy & dumb enough to fall for this.
I guess I need to start popping out some kids so I can commit a crime and not be held responsible for my own actions.
Interesting take. One might also argue that the children don't deserve to suffer needlessly for the actions of their parents. It's not like she's a murderer; just dumb and thefty.
Exactly- I don't see anyone giving her a loan ever again, so it's not like she's a danger to herself or others.

But parents go to jail all the time. I don't wish any thing ill on these children (and I feel terrible for them), but the Guidices should not be treated any differently than any other criminal charged with similar crimes. Perhaps they should have thought about the consequences before they started defrauding every creditor they could fine.
I think she's fairly stupid. Not totally dumb, but not smart enough or strong enough to shout down Joe's ridiculous scheming. I think he's sly as fuck, and I think he probably strong-armed her into signing documents about which she knew or read essentially nothing.
I do hope they give her house arrest, or probation. I think she's just as culpable, don't get me wrong; stupidity isn't a defense. But those children didn't do anything wrong. They deserve a parent.

I don't necessarily think putting someone like Teresa Giudice in prison for two years is going to do any good. I think more good could come of her raising her kids, who are probably already fucked up by all this.
I think Teresa is a product of her environment- that she was taught that nothing is ever your fault, someone else will always clean up your mess, you can have whatever you want, whenever you want it- and I think her girls would be better off without her around to pass along that message, even if just for a little while. Her victim mentality is second to none. I think it will be good for the girls to see that actions really do have consequences.

It makes me think of Gloria in OITNB. Yes she totally stole from the govt through food stamp fraud, however what good does it do to put her in jail, when her kids need a mother and she was trying to get away from an abusive marriage.
It makes me think of when they are hauling her off to jail when she THOUGHT she was being saved from her abusive BF and the woman says " Don't worry they won't put a mother in jail"

I agree completely. All she and Joe have taught their daughters is that looks are what matter and you do whatever you have to do to get what you want, and it's always someone else's fault. Culpability, responsibility, integrity, honesty - all concepts their kids need to learn, and I don't think they're learning them from Juicy Joe and Tre.
I actually think her kids are better off without her. Get the cameras out of their faces. Get your 13 year old out of hooker dresses and selfies on instagram and go educate them.
But I know. Nobody can take all of them and it would be devastating for them to lose both of their parents. I just think both of their parents suck.

But then what punishment would you want for her? I have a huge problem with her not facing any punishment for breaking the law simply because she has children.

Her children already have that message -- and will continue to get that message. Their father is going to prison, likely for at least a few years, and may be deported. They're nearly destitute. They're selling the house and downsizing. The girls are probably being excruciatingly teased at school. You think they haven't received the message yet? Or you think that Teresa's mere presence is going to negate the very tangible consequences they can see now and will see for the foreseeable future?
I think, based on the reporting from the court TODAY, that they are STILL hiding assets and thumbing their noses at the federal court. And for that, there should be consequences. So they clearly haven't received the message yet- how could they teach their children something they themselves refuse to acknowledge? Also, children aren't a little pack out of jail free cards.
Destitute? They pulled up to their hearing this morning in a Mercedes. Please. Hardly destitute.
I was under the impression it was the lawyers.
Theresa is also stating that all of her jewelry is costume and her furniture was brought in by Bravo as set dressing.
It's hard to believe anything those two claim when in season 1 we watched her drop 80K on furniture and paid cash.
And LHC, I'm being factious. The damage is done with her kids. I don't honestly believe they'd turn into different children without her. I feel sorry that they're a product of the show and all of this is out there. I wish I could bring them to my little house in the woods and get keep away from all the attention.
