So everyone who gets botox do you get it from a derm or a plastic surgeon?
The PAs and NPs that have a cosmetic derm background at my derm office do the botox and I'd like to just use them but I wonder if I need to go see a plastic surgeon instead?

I got Restalyn around my mouth and I got it from a dermatologist office.
I was really happy with the results. They lasted over six months.
I got Botox for the first time about 2 months ago. After 3 weeks it hadn't taken, so I went back for a free boost. I paid $300 (no groupons or anything since I wanted to pick my doctor.) It looks great. No one has noticed except me, but it looks really great. I'm a convert. I say do it before the wrinkles set in permanently and you are stuck with more expensive fillers.
How often do you plan to get it touched up? I am interested in doing this.
The doc said officially it's supposed to last 3-4 months but she thought it would be closer to 6 months for me. Since I got this done I have purchased a Groupon to a different doctor (also has good reviews online) so I can compare. The Groupon is 20 units for $139. Since my first one was a flat fee, I have no idea how many units I received.
To be honest, I thought Botox was going to be some big dramatic thing, but it was NBD. I literally did it on my lunch hour and it took maybe 10-15 minutes for the initial consult and injection and 5 minutes for the boost. I went right back to work and no one could tell I had just been injected.
I literally just look refreshed, like I drank a lot of water and had a great night of sleep, except I look like that every day now.
Look, you people are the reason that others will think I'm 70 when I'm 50.
REAL FACES FOR LYFE.
I was totes with you until I started aging.
Now in all "make it stopppppp!" And dh is all "nothing is wrong with you. Stop being weird."
I've always said I want to age gracefully. Right now I'm more like a cat someone is trying to shove into a pet taxi on the way to the vets office. I suck. Lol.

I'm bumping this thread up because I need to know if anyone in here got any botox in the last 6 weeks?
I'm seeing my derm today and I'm planning to get some in my forehead lines because they are getting bad and I'm shitting my pants.
I asked about it at a derm appt last week.
They said I might need filler and not botox in one side of my 11 I don't think its worth it if its not going to help and I'm just going to need filler.
Lots of my patients get botox for a number of medical non-cosmetic reasons. I have yet to see a negative reaction. I keep telling myself that but I am a HUGE nervous nellie when it comes to myself and meds/procedures.
I also don't think there is anything wrong with being a little vain.
sangria I find that the horizontal lines on my forehead are MUCH less noticeable the better hydrated I am and moisturized my face is. Maybe invest in some good moisturizer and try that as well?
At the risk of sounding like a complete hippie, have you tried changing things up? I ask because I was contemplating it a while back. I was getting the 11's, smile lines by my mouth, and crows feet around my eyes. I was like HOLY SHIT I'm suddenly looking OLD. Then I switched to Clinique Rescue something or other, started drinking water like it was my job (working out more helped with that because I was legit thirsty), and, here's the best part, worked on my resting bitch face. Like, making an effort to consciously relax my face (SHUT UP. RBF was/is something I work on).
There's been a definite improvement. So for now, I'm still anti-botox. I'm sure it can be done subtly, but I have seen completely botched jobs (with fillers too), in person, and they're a wreck. Not worth the risk, IMO. I'm also lazy, and get annoyed keeping up with my hair cut/color every few months. Another thing to schedule that will cost me multiple hundreds of dollars would annoy the shit out of me.
I think I'm vain, but I can't fathom getting Botox. I like being expressive too much. The people I know who have had Botox are almost universally frozen-looking for at least three weeks afterwards and it's creepy.
I hated not being able to move my forehead with the first round. How can I judge people properly if they can't see me communicating my disdain with a furrowed brow?
I have had Botox once, Xeomin once (same thing as Botox), and Restalyne filler. I had the Restalyne/Xeomin last Wednesday before Thanksgiving just in case the filler was awful. Like you, I was scared. I backed out once before going. But O.M.G.....it's amazing. By the time I got home and looked in the mirror I looked just like myself but better. My husband said he couldn't tell a thing - but I can tell. I still have smile lines but they are now more cute, dimple-like lines instead of cavernous old-lady lines. If you go to a doc who does a lot of these procedures, they are very good at telling you what will be good on you. He injected filler into totally different areas than I would have thought, but it made me look younger without looking different.
As for being "frozen" and non-expressive, I will say that a lot more people have Botox than you'd ever know. The vast majority of that look perfectly normal. I can still make expressions, it just stops the 11 lines from furrowing up involuntarily while I stare at my computer. I love it. :-)
