I totally agree with this. you look....normal. it is NOT normal to look airbrushed and puffed up at 35. if all you bitches go botoxing your faces, then the rest of us are going to look OLD.
This is so true. I feel like the standards for looking young are getting raised more and more. I was reading this thread on the Fashion and Beauty board of another forum. I had to stop reading. People were doing this "guess my age" thread and I cannot believe how much older people were guessing the posters. Which of course made people feel like shit because nobody posts their picture online only to be told they look 8 years older than they are. The thing is, these people looked their age. They looked fine. But people see wrinkles and think that a person must be in their 50s or 60s because 30 year olds don't have wrinkles or grey hair. Yes they do.
I will admit that I've gotten botox twice. Both times in my late 30s. I will never do it again. Seriously. I know it can look good but it can look really bad too. I had Spock brows the first time. I went back practically crying. She told me give it another week so it "settles". It got worse. She said she could only fix it by giving me more Botox. My brows then started to look kind of like Kirstie Alley. Which is fine for her but bad on me. Took 4 months for it to wear off. A couple years later I try it again at a different place. It's hard to describe but it gave me this shiny, wooden forehead and pushed my brows down low. I don't have hooded eyes and it made my eyes hooded. I could barely put on eyeshadow or mascara. I had a smooth forehead and these tiny, beady eyes. Fucking done. I ended up feeling like a recluse not wanting to face people.
Seriously it's worth trying if it's something you want and it does look fantastic on some people. But make sure that the person injecting gives you a smaller amount to start to ease you into it. I'm kind of glad I hated it looking back. Saves me some money.
sangria I think you look great. Honestly. Women fixate on the lines on their face but to everyone else in the world (except some assholes), they don't look bad. You don't have to look perfect, or 25, to be attractive.
I just saw a picture of an old classmate in my alumni magazine. She had obviously had work done; it did not look good. I mean, her skin was flawless but she also looked like a Stepford robot. Yikes.
If you got the work done, I'm not saying you will look like that. I hope you like the results.
Since I still have every intention of getting my boobs lifted when I hit 40 I say go for it.
I may not make sense, but I feel like getting work done on your boobs is waaaaay different than on your face. I'm open to the possibility of that after having kids if only for the potential reduction. They do a number on my back.

I think we all have our line in the sand as to what is "ok" and what is "not" where these things are concerned. I figure do what you want with yourbody, just try not to make yourself look like the creepy lady who turned herself into a cat and you're golden!

or the lady who injected cooking oil into her own face. I'd DEFINITELY avoid that one.

I've been getting Dysport for about 2 years. Its basically another brand of Botox. Nobody notices the difference except me, which is what I like. Its very subtle and it just makes me feel better about my appearance. I get it on my eleven as well as on my crows feet and to me its money well spent. I vote a yes... Also, its not that painful and I've never suffered from any bruising. Dysport takes about three days to set in.

I have had it done twice for my 11's and like the result. I'll post a before and after "real" (vs. forced expression) picture for comparison purposes. I'll delete later as I can't figure out how to edit other people out of my pics.
This is the Before, i'm 2nd from right in cream dress. I am smiling and still have my 11's scowl lines, also wearing same amt of make up as next picture.
After - this is a couple years later and I think i look younger due to no more 11's (I still have a scar between my eyes that I haven't done anything about yet)
allhis Either way, you're stunning! But I do like the after photo. I have the 11's so I'm probably more sensitive about it. I hate when I have my 11's b/c it makes me having a total RBF. After 3+ years, they're starting to come back and I am definitely going in for a 'refill.'
allhis, I like you better with expressive eyes and eyebrows. Also, you look like you're wearing considerably more makeup in the second photo. I don't necessarily think you look younger, and I think you look better in the first picture if we're being honest.
I appreciate the honesty.
See, the problem is that my expression in the picture should not produce 11 lines b/c I was not furrowing my brows. I was very sensitive to how my make up settled into those lines at all times, giving me RBF if I wasn't smiling. You'll note that I didn't do anything about the smile lines that form at my eyes in the 2nd picture, b/c I do like those and agree that going "expressionless" is not the look i'm going for.
I wear the exact same make up whenever we go out, but I did learn how to darken my eye brows by the 2nd picture. it's funny to me that you like my brows in the first pic better b/c I think they look nearly invisible. Maybe the darker color ages me though?
And, i am almost 32. ha! But you know what they say, botox is preventative, not a treatment. My mom gave me her lean figure (yay) and lean face (boo!) and I know she deeply regrets not doing more in terms of wrinkle prevention 30 years ago.
allhis...did you *just* have your 11s done? I definitely see a difference. I'm sensitive to mine, and they stick around even when I have no expressions. Ugh I'm working on convincing my H to let me get them done.
I had it done for the first time about 8 months ago, and a refresher a month ago. It takes 10ish days to go into effect.
I have two grandmothers in their late 80's with zero wrinkles between them. Not even a liver spot. My mom has skin like a baby. And of course, I glow from within.
Okay, but I haven't been shooting botulism into it every few months at $300 a pop to get it that way!
I get it every 6-8 months and it's $200 thanks to a professional discount ? Plus since my hair is pretty naturally nice I only get it cut/highlighted twice a year too, so save money that way to apply towards other maintenance.
