I'm not even going to get in this debate because everyone knows my stance.
I will say that it sucks that marihuana has a stigma that alcohol doesn't. It's ok for a mom to have some wine or beer but if you smoke responsibly you're worthy of a call to CPS.
I do realize that. Lol. I HATE the smell so that was my tipping factor.
I can't stand whiskey. Prohibition for all!
Nice try, but you drinking whiskey does not Impair or bother me. I hate whiskey too for the record. I was just being open and honest. I am amended my answer, but apparently since I disagreed I'm a dumbass.

I agree. Obviously, if someone gets too high it can be an issue, but I don't see that being any different than becoming too inebriated.

I was simply answering the question. Smoke whether it be marijuana or cigarettes bothers me. Some jackass drinking whiskey next to me has no effect on me. Once again, I have amended my answer to legalize it, but not in public.

I won't drive stoned because when I have it's like Cheech and Chong-I'll be driving 15 MPH and feel like I'm going 100. Or that I'm in a video game. Not good.
Good thing my H is straight so I have a permanent sober driver.
Absolutely. I've voted to legalize it in the past and will again. At this point, people are acting like it's legal here anyway, since they assume it will be soon. People are smoking it out in the open and while driving in broad daylight.
Since driving was mentioned before, Marijuana usually makes people drive much safer. Unless you are so completely baked out of your mind that you don't know what's going on, most drive slower and more carefully. Basically the opposite of what usually happens with alcohol.
Can you please point me towards research that shows that driving while under the influence increases your reaction speed than while sober, causes less accidents while sober, etc?

I feel like most people who are against legalization rely on prohibition propaganda for their information instead of actually looking into what the truth is about it. We can easily move past the "drugs are bad mmmmmkay" mentality with a little bit of education and flexibility of thought.

Impairment is impairment is impairment. People shouldn't drive under the influence of cold meds, alochol, pot or anything else. Come on.
As far as I'm concerned, driving under the influence is driving under the influence, whether the substance is alcohol or marijuana. If you are impaired, I don't care what it is that impaired you, you shouldn't be driving (or going to work, minding children, etc).
I truly don't care. If i had to pick, i would say no, but i wouldn't lose sleep over it either way. I only lean that way because i hate the smell and smoke in general.
smoking wouldn't have to occur in standard bars and such. Pot bars could be designated for smokers. Also, weed can be consumed in ways that don't pose any risk of secondhand exposure, through edibles and oral sprays.

I would if I had actual research. I'm just going off of experience of people I've known through the years, and myself. It's often joked about, how you start driving like an old person. But I'll see if I can find anything concrete.
So you drive under the influence like it's no big deal?
You should probably look in to the actual problem with driving while under the influence of drugs and why it's illegal.
I mean people who drink alcohol and drive also think that they are driving fine and can react as they normally do, but that's clearly not the case.
ETA: And driving like an "old person" is most definitely not good either. Old people have slower reaction times and get confused more often.

But from what I understand, the places that have legalized marijuana doesn't allow people to smoke it wherever they want. It's just in their residence and on private properties, not standing next to you in line at McDonald's.

I would likely vote to legalize, but would be interested in the specifics. I listened to an NPR piece about 6 months after CO legalized. They interviewed a law enforcement officer who had nothing negative to say except that there weren't good methods for testing people suspected of driving under the influence. I feel confident that if enough places legalize, that kind of in-the-field test would be quickly developed.
They also interviewed a physician who talked about the edibles market. He mentioned odd servings (1 candy bar = 10 servings of pot) as well as odd choices of what to make it in (gummy bears, other candy items that would be very appealing to small children). Again, I think some regulation would do away with those concerns. Overall, I think it would be a positive move.

Hell yes I would vote yes. I'm a Federal employee and I'm pretty sure we still wouldn't be allowed to partake (at least I think I read something to that effect when it was first on the ballots in other states) but I absolutely think it should be legal. I don't know that I would smoke it, but I would love to have edibles at my disposal, should I ever get a new job or decide to risk it.
As should being able to buy beer/wine/booze in grocery stores - which we still cannot do.
