Did anyone listen to today's Slate spoiler special? Apparently Reddit/Innocence Project is on a mission to pin this on two serial killers in Baltimore (one is dead and the other is in jail.)
BUT OMG.
That theory is dumber than the supposed dumb case against Adnan. JAY LED THEM TO THE CAR! So unless you can prove Jay was part of some serial killer duo this theory makes no sense!!! None whatsoever!! Might as well try to prove she was killed by the chupacabra while you are at it!!!
And this was from the lofty Innocence Project!!
If your theory to exonerate a defendant is more fantastical than the case against your defendant, you may want to reassess!
Just listening to this and knowing that Jay is involved is my problem with the other subjects, but some of the parallels for Hai's murder and those other two murders is uncanny. Plus Jay seems so sure about knowing that Adnan did it. But Adnan is sure he hasn't. I just feel like the investigation had so many details wrong that it's hard to convict Adnan on so much that is cicumstantial and false - the timelines, the questions about even WHEN or WHERE the murder happened, etc. It seems like the investigators had an answer and some info from Jay and then shaped Jay's narrative to their case rather than shaped their case around Jay's narrative.
However, I want to talk about Serial episode 10 - I really feel like Adnan's lawyer was on the way to acquittal in the first trial, but made the mistake thinking she'd have the same outcome in trial #2, so was quick to ask for mistrial. I'm feeling like it's b/c Jay was more caught off guard on cross examination and probably sounded less confident and good on stand. Oh... and I was super pissed that he mentions Adnan saying something about "Allah" in the second trial and not really ever before that. I think the prosecution really does try to play into prejudice to get conviction b/c they didn't have a lot of physical evidence. Plus, Adnan like his lawyer Christina and finds no fault, so maybe she did know he did it and had to confuse everyone away from this and he feels beholden to her b/c she kept his secret to the death.
