anyone know when an officer is interviewed after a shooting? wilson wasnt interviewed until the next day when by then he would have had a whole bunch of people helping him tell the correct story
I don't know, but I have no doubt an interview would wait until the officer had his or her union's attorney present.
Can anyone help me find another gathering in Houston that isn't tonight? I have found Occupy Houston is meeting tonight in Southwest of downtown but I cannot make it. I cannot find anything else in Houston.
I was looking for another Houston location as well.
I know it's not the same, but light a candle in your front yard at 7:00, put in on your FB, spread it.
Part of the confusion I see people having is that they think this grand jury was about guilt or innocence. I just had to explain to my own mother that was not what this was about. That all we wanted, well for now, was a fair trial to examine the incident.
By having the jury hear so much evidence, did they themselves feel that was what they were doing? And the evidence they did hear, it's all presented by one perspective with no cross-examining? (Correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know much about legal procedure either.)
I admit when I first this was the plan, I thought it was a good thing. But now I see how this was just another step help Wilson escape.
A coworker's car had 2 of its tires stolen off of it in our lot about 30 minutes ago. It's somewhat known that we have a big meeting here tonight at 7 (in the dark obviously) and our lot will be full. Some are thinking it was a "test" for tonight to see how perceptive we are (clearly, we're not, no one saw a thing).

The Ferguson library has remained open to allow people to come in for a safe place to read and learn. Teachers from area schools have also been on hand. This is the library's wish list, if anyone feels moved to donate:

I hope you're able to stay safe.
Thanks. I get to leave at 7, at the start of the meeting, along with all the other office staff. A few of our bosses are carrying today (not something I'm comfortable or ok with, but it's not my call) so I do feel ok having them walk us out.
Someone in a FB group I'm in posted that "maps" were released of stores to loot prior to last night. She said she heard it on Fox News. My eyeballs fell out of my head from rolling so hard.
In a short preview of an hour-plus interview taped with ABC's George Stephanopoulos at a "secret location," Stephanopoulos revealed that Officer Darren Wilson told him Monday that he shot Michael Brown because he "feared for his life."
Not as much as you're going to fear for your life now, Officer. And not as much as you should fear the one after this life.

I wonder if that's b/c it's IL. The National Guard was brought in by MO, so can they cross the river if IL didn't request them?

(huh)
Imposing curfews are not unheard of when a city fears unrest, correct? East STL doesn't have the police force to deal with an uprising like was in Ferguson and STL can't send their officers over there b/c of state lines. I took this as they are wanting to keep the minors safe, but apparently I'm again showing my optimistic ignorance.

no, not showing anything. I thought you were saying the kids couldn't come over because MO didn't ask them. lol. ::takes a swig::

Ok, whew. I was thinking "WHAT HAVE I SAID NOW?" I will cheers to you in about 2 hours, when I get home and plan to stay there (or at least not come in to work) for the next 5 days!
The only thing I have heard on the National Bar Association is Black Twitter being angry that white people are saying, but...but that's not the American Bar Association (read National Bar Association is for those black people). I haven't spent more time looking up more detail on it yet.
OK, what's the deal with the National Bar Association thing floating around? IIOY? ESF? Can you come speak lawyerly things to me? @starlily?
National Bar Association is a voluntary membership association, with a predominately black membership. I believe it was started when black lawyers weren't let into regular bar associations. I also believe it leans left, and tends to take actual substantive positions on things, unlike, say the American Bar Association, which leans more corporate and generally stays out of political issues. But that's really all I know.

ok, thanks. I see how this will go now that I know these facts.
Blah people + practicing discrimination by being in an all-blah organization when whities can't have their own = STFU, biased blah people.

I've never unfriended so many people in my life...I'm pretty sure by the end of the night, I'll have only black people and Tipsy Bartender posts in my news feed. Here is a personal favorite:
All those morons causing a ruckus because of the officer wilson decision, if you don't like the way our country is run, no one is forcing you to stay here! Here is the door?, don't let it hit ya where the good lord split ya. And unless you sat on that grand jury or were an eye witness to the "police brutality" that occured shut your trap! ::mic drop::
We had an incident between a car and some protestors this afternoon in Mpls. As best as I have gathered, the car started honking at folks in the street. People didn't move. Car drove over someone's leg. People jumped on car.
Driver is currently with the police. There is video of the incident.
