Both EllieArroway and y4m have refused to ban her. Per y4m (who, btw, threatened to ban mm posters for bringing up coke dick), stated, "She is a real poster, albeit with unpopular opinions on group-thinky CEP. This board has a very functional block function that is perfect for this application. "
So let's review: A poster, who has for years treated this board as a trolling ground, has only a handful of times in the 7-8 years posting here has posted actual normal posts, AND who has been asked several times to either leave this board or at least start participating and has refused, will not be banned.
Banning because we don't like someone's opinions is a really scary slippery slope. This is a perfect use for the block function--especially since lys doesn't engage anyway. I guess pixy felt the need to repost what I said on the mod board here because she thinks I won't stand by it publicly? I absolutely do.
No. It's definitely called for. I announced to the board yesterday that I was calling for her ban. It hasn't been done, and this is why.
There's a difference between saying the global administration don't agree she should be banned, and basically questioning Y4M's ethics because you disagree with the choice both of them made.
I could support not banning lys if it weren't for y4m threatening to ban another poster for what seems like the same reasons pixy articulated yesterday. That is a pretty big disconnect.

As I told Pixy, I think that she has rolled into some very emotional threads lately posting hateful opinions, and I think that's a good reason to block her.
I don't think she has violated any ToS unless we count the one that reads something like "is generally offensive or in bad taste," which i really don't want to use to ban someone. That is such a huge slippery slope.
I think she's our Evee or Bliss. Neither of them have been banned despite demonstrating trollish behavior for years.

Ok, you're right. I do question y4m's ethics. I think it's bullshit that she ran roughshod over MM, and then refuses to ban a troll who has been posting here for years.

Despite that threat, that poster was never banned.

Look, isn't someone running around ML who posted a link to another poster's personal info or something? And people called for her banning and it didn't happen.
Banning is not something that our mods have ever done, and our mods have always been hands off. And we wanted it that way.
Recently I described lys as a troll, but since then it seemed like she had been making an effort to not be a troll. I think banning people for their shitty, offensive opinions is a very slippery slope, especially on a board meant for debate of strong opinions. If we want to go down that road, that's a different conversation and one that will need very strict guidelines. It seems like this is better suited for the block function though.

Can someone explained what happened there?
Bliss was posting old sensitive info a poster had deleted over and over again in a thread on MM, and I said "you're acting like a troll and we ban trolls" or something along that line. Chaos ensued, but no actual action or banning. \

She basically did the same thing pixy is doing.
I agree that it's probably not appropriate to ban bliss or lys (funny how their names rhyme), but I think y4m's response to pixy was pretty shitty and hypocritical in light of y4m herself threatening to ban lys.
