I read more often than I post because I feel like I always have the "wrong" opinion (like with the Shia La Beoufe situation) and don't always feel like getting attacked for it.
that is hard. I know there are a handful of topics where I go against the board majority and I have to be in the right mood to jump in on those. I like to argue though, so I do it anyway.
Besides, it's usually good practice for when I go home and MH brings up the same topic, except he takes the stance to the right of where I was sitting in opposition to the lefty majority here and I end up using all their arguments against him. *mwahahhahaha*
You guys move really fast and I can't always keep up. I'm kind of deliberate - I have to think about what I want to say before posting.
NOT A LURKER
I REALIZE THAT!
I'm just giving a reason why maybe some people don't post a lot or lurk. We've had the personality type discussion and I think some of it ties back to that. I'm INTJ and I analyze a lot before just spouting off.
A lurker is someone no one recognizes who randomly pops into a thread and says "hey you don't know me but I actually know some of your names and where you work."
:/
See, I would say I'm a lurker because I've been posting on TN/PB for around 6 years now, but still have less than 2,000 posts. Well, 4,000 if you lump the two accounts together.
Compare that to regs that have 50,000+ posts and yea.. I consider myself more of a lurker.
I don't post more for two reasons- 1) I have a new job and can only be online during my lunch break and I'm too tired when I get home and 2) I hate just repeating what others have said or doing one word posts like "Congrats!"
I 'like' posts like crazy though. I'd 'like' the OP instead of saying 'Congrats.'
I love sou's gavel hammering down on all these posters.
@soudesafinado, I just love you. Â
::waves at lurkers::
I was just coming in to say this.
I wish work hadn't been so busy lately so I could participate more. I know I'm not a lurker but I would like to contribute more topics. But now I really really need to go prepare for my meeting.

What I would like to see more of is fewer accusations of "posting and running." People have meetings, kids need to be picked up, errands need to be run, etc. so I'd like to see less of that if it's just going to scare people away. I know many of us can get impatient and be like, "What did you just say? CLARIFY THYSELF." but I think we need to do better with that.
My viewpoint is quite different to that of this board, and I usually don't have time to get into a lengthy debate, so I don't post. I don't want to be accused of posting and running or trolling.
I like to read the debates, though, as occasionally there is a viewpoint expressed I haven't considered yet and I learn from that.
I get all my news from here so I'm reading every day. I'm a natural wallflower. I'm that person sitting at the end of the table just listening to everyone else. My online persona is the same.
I read over here sometimes but very rarely if ever post. (Post count is from MMM and H&F.)
If I am going to participate in intelligent discussion I want to be intelligent and most of the time I'm on my phone and don't have the energy to type well-thought-out, appropriately-sourced posts.
But I often click over here if something big is going on in the news because I know y'all will be on top of it.

I've lurked sporadically over the years and have only recently begun lurking again this time around. (Oh, say, October or so, on an election year...probably not a coincidence.) I posted in a thread about bread last week though! (My post count is from other boards.)
I lurk for the same reasons a lot of others have mentioned - the board moves fast and it's hard to keep up, or I don't feel like I'm as well-informed or feel as strongly as some others do. Plus...I wonder if part of it is that you guys seem like a pretty close bunch, and it feels a little like invading. Which I know it isn't, bit it might make newbies a little hesitant to just jump in.
I don't ever feel like I have anything to say (I didn't even answer the poll!) I do like to read and often "like" things - maybe that's even creepier! I feel like I get a lot of great random information here and often a laugh or two, but I don't often feel like I have anything to add.
You want to know what my first thought was when I woke up this morning?
I rolled and over and was like PLEASE GOD let today be the day that MH370 is really found because then all your minds would have been blown. It would have ultimate awesomeness. lol

I think there are really multiple levels to this. I see the group as: Lurker - someone who has posted <5 time on the board, probably knows the rest but is too timid to join in. Sporadic poster - You're recognizable, but just not on all the time. Poster visiting from another board - We know who you are, you're just not here on PCE a lot. Regular - The main contributors here. Usually at least 1 new post from them a day.
I lurk over here bc there's always interesting topics and opinions. I don't join in usually because by the time I want to someone else has already said what I was thinking better than I could. I also rarely (if ever) "like" a post since I'm sure most of you have no clue who i am and I don't want to come off as creepy

I post from time to time so I'm probably not a lurker. I just feel like one because I know the absurd amount of time I spend on here is not fairly represented by the number of times I post.
I post very rarely because I can't keep up. This thread is already 4 pages! By the time I finish reading the board and figure out what I would want to say, y'all have moved on to sandwiches.
I read more often than I post because I feel like I always have the "wrong" opinion (like with the Shia La Beoufe situation) and don't always feel like getting attacked for it.
THAT'S THE STUPIDEST THING EVER SAID! HOW CAN YOU HAVE THAT OPINION?
