I'm putting together a book wish list for my impending arrival. What kids (little kids/babies) books should I add to it for my library? What are your kids favorite books?
Ditto Llama Llama. We love those. Other hits here:
No David No How to babysit a Grandma How to Babysit a Grandpa Little Blue Truck (and lineup) is great God Gave Us You My Name is Ruby (really cute) My NO NO Day Room on the Broom (both my kids adore this book) We also have a complimation of the Little Golden Books. It's too long for the kids but fun to have on the shelf.

Llama Llama Karen Katz (Where is Baby's... series) Sandra Boyton (I've seen all the above as boxed board book sets at Barnes and Noble) Little Blue Truck Eric Carle Baby Lit series (classics like Dracula, Wuthering Heights, Jungle Book in board book, they are really cute)
Good Night Gorilla Good Night Our World series (they have a lot of states/towns that showcase your local attractions) The Napping House 101 First Words books (things that go, animals, etc) Leslie Patricelli books- Tubby Time, Binky, No No, Yes Yes, Big Little lots more. We love all of them. Little Masters art books (Van Gogh, Matisse etc)
I think we have at least 100 board books. I have a problem lol.
I have a little obsession with the Baby Lit series books lately. Also, despite the board's feelings about Dr Seuss, I love "Green Eggs and Ham" and so do both of my children.

We also have the flip page books that have a touch and feel element. I can't remember the brand (and I'm trapped under a sleeping baby) but my baby loves those. She learned to open the flap quick!

Our absolute favorite is "Goodnight, Baby Monster." I went to buy it for a friends book shower only to find it's not available any more! Has anyone else seen this book? We will have to be extra careful with our copy now since we can't replace it if it rips!
Anything by Karma Wilson. I know she has at least one board book, Play Nice, Calico. But we also love her Bear series (Bear Wants More, Bear Snores On, etc.)
Also, like I suggested in the other thread, Fox In the Dark, by Alison Green. My 2 year old loves it.
The mini-masters books are DD's favorites. It's impressionist art with rhyming verse. "Dancing with Degas" and "Quiet Time with Cassatt" have DD's highest seal of approval!
His favorite is Sheep in a Jeep. Also, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Goodnight Moon, If You Give A... (Mouse a cookie, pig a pancake, moose a muffin, etc.) and ditto Little Blue Truck.
Patrick McDonnell is on that list! He's one of my favorite kiddie authors. We love "Hug Time" It's so sweet and is such a good note to end the night on. "Art" "Meā¦Jane" and "The Gift Of Nothing" also have great messages and are really cute. People might know him better for his comic strip, Mutts. I love him.
I also love Al Yankovic's (yes, Weird Al) children's books. They're all about enjoying being a kid, being your own crazy self, and believing that anything is possible.
Other good kiddie books we've loved:
Miss Nina's Ballerinas Llama Llama One and Zero- Kathryn Otoshi Go To Bed, Monster- Natasha Wing Rosie Revere and Iggy Peck- Andrea Beaty Chopsticks- Amy Krouse Rosenthal Oo! John Lithgow! I love, love, love his "Never Play Music Right Next to a Zoo" If you can get the audiobook version, I highly recommend it.
So many good little kid books. Now my kid's 5 and we're reading chapter books aloud. So long pretty picture books. Anyone have rec's for fresh chapter books, send em my way.
We love the "That's not my " books from Usborne, The Pout Pout Fish, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, the Hungry Caterpillar, Click Clack Moo, The Rainbow Fish, and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie.
