Did you go to private or public school as a kid? I know some things change over the 12 years of school, so I'm adding a lot of options, but the public schools post about the PG (area around DC) had me thinking.
Answers for those who can't see...
All public school K-12
Mostly public school K-12
All private school K-12
Mostly private school K-12
A mix of both
Homeschooled (majority or all of K-12)
I am Abe Lincoln and was head of my own one-roomed cabin school room or SS
I grew up in the province of New Brunswick, I think there's only one private school in the entire province so private school wasn't really something anyone did.
I did it all, literally…private, semi private, and public in Canada, international and national schools in four other countries…did girls only and co-ed, did all French, French Immersion and English, did some Catholic settings, some not. The only thing I never experienced was homeschooling.
I didn't even know until I left for college that there were people who did private school other than super religious people or super rich people at like fancy boarding schools. AFAIK, we didn't have them in my area. Not that I was aware of anyway.
So needless to say - K-12 public. Private undergrad though.

IME it was more that every private school around here is Catholic (not everyone sent their kids there because they were religious). So private secular schools are unusual to me.
All public. We moved frequently and I went to school in 3 states. There was a noticeable difference in the quality of education in each even though I always went to schools that were deemed at least good.
We lived in New Haven for a while and my mother lied about our address and kept me in my old school. It was incredibly stressful for me and I really don't know if it was better than being in a bad school temporarily.
Public school from k-12. From 4-8 I went to an excellent magnet school in Atlanta. Then we moved to Maryland, and my parents bought our house specifically for the public school. Went to a public university on partial academic scholarship for undergrad. Private for grad school.
Also, just to keep the conversation going, I am a huge fan of public college/grad school etc... I didn't have to pay tuition to undergrad so I didn't think about it at that point, but when I was looking at law schools, the sticker shock was whoa!! And now I'm so so glad I went to a pubic school. Whenever people ask me for advice about going to law school, especially women, I tell them to go to the best cheapest school you can find. I don't bother telling people just not to go, because they won't listen. Just as I didn't listen. So the next best advice IMO is go to a cheap school that is still respectable.
My cheapest option for college was and out-of-state state school. My private options were in the middle. My own state school was the most expensive.
My cheapest options for law school were all private.
I wasn't opposed to public school for college and law school, but the private schools gave me scholarships. The public schools were like, "LOL scholarships. You're cute."
