Ate on the couch growing up when I lived with my mom. During visits with my dad and stepmom, we all ate at the table. They're far more traditional that way.
It depends on the meal, for example we eat pizza at the coffee table in front of the Tv almost exclusively. However i prefer eating at the kitchen table. I think the table gives me better posture so I digest better. Haha

Before kids - in the living room in front of the TV. Honestly, we probably would've kept that up even after kids since we don't eat at the same time, but we got in the habit of eating on the dining table when the kids were babies, since all their stuff was all over the coffee table in the living room.
We ate on the couch at the coffee table w/ the TV on every single night before kids. When DD1 started sitting in her high chair with us for dinner, we took it to the table and turned the TV off. So weird to think back on that now.
In our old apt we always ate in front of tv. In our new place the set up is different and dining room is right off kitchen so we eat there because I'm not carrying food to living room. But take out is still in front of tv.
We ate on the couch while watching TV up until 10 months ago. Now we have a table that faces the TV (as our living & dinning room are one room; condo living ftw ) so we still watch TV just at the table. No kids yet.
