I'm the only person I know who doesn't use one. In fact I just sold mine on FB about 10 minutes ago. Some of my friends swear that it cuts down on the drooling. I felt uncomfortable in case it broke and she choked on a bead.
LOL if that's the case then my friends baby would be a fountain without it! She has one and EVERY SINGLE PICTURE of her (completely adorable and tremendously photogenic) daughter shows enough drool to make a St Bernard jealous.
As a mom to a baby, I know nothing about amber teething necklaces and probably won't use one on M. But when I had heard of them before, I totally assumed it was a chunky beaded necklace that the mom wore and the baby could gnaw on while she held him. LOL
this is what I thought too. lol
I have never even seen a baby wearing one or noticed.
side note- I was looking at a blog recently and this 18 month old had on a "statement" necklace. It was made of fabric but still...wtf to a toddler with a statement necklace.
There is a baby boy in DS3's MDO class who wears decorative baby infinity scarves every day. They are all different prints. Some are monogrammed. It seems so odd. I can barely get my kids dressed, let alone accessorized.

I'll bite, dd has worn one since 15 months. The week I Bought it her shirt was constantly soaked with drool. It stopped after wearing it. I'm so not crunchy or hippy, so I'm surprised I bought it. But it seems to work for dd
I got one for DD when she was having a rough time. I don't think it did anything (and she really only wears it for like an hour at night since she doesn't sleep/nap in it and we don't send her to daycare in it). But really, I think they're cute.
h I am dying at "baby infinity scarves." M has a nice little wardrobe of hats; that's the extent of his accessorize get.
My dd has an infinity scarf but she got it when she was 2, not a baby
Well, admittedly the kid is like 18 months old, but the scarves have been a mainstay since at least. 9-10 months old. He isn't a tiny infant, though. But still, scarves every day? On a young male toddler? It's kind of odd, right?
The scarves are like these "scarf bib" things, so maybe they are meant to serve a utilitarian purpose of some sort? www.scabib.com
Oh okay, well yes to your question above but I think these are like the "bibdanas"?? They are like fancy bibs for droolers- well at least that's how a friend if mine uses it

Yes. I actually misplaced the original and ordered a new one this weekend. He's wearing it today after a good day and night of sleep. and less drooling. I usually keep it around the ankle in his sleepers. I and my family were skeptic at first but it works.

While we're on the subject of teething, I also would not use those all-natural teething tablets because I don't think they are tested for amounts of active ingredients they way medicines are. Obviously I don't use the necklace (even though I think they're kind of cute. Then again, I'm a card carrying member of the MM ugly shoe club, so take that for what's it's worth).

Ditto the PPs who said they have only heard of this on here and assumed it was a necklace for mom to wear that baby chewed on. I've never seen one used in real life.

We have a hazelwood-amber one (supposedly the hazelwood has some helpful properties for eczema). It seemed worth a try but I was constantly taking it off him for naps and other reasons because I was too nervous to even leave it on his ankle for sleep. What if it breaks in his crib and he eats a bead, etc. So he never wore it long enough to absorb the so called effects anyway. His intermittent wearing only lasted like a month or so until I just quit bothering to put it back on and it's been in a drawer since. I thought it was cute though!
Nope, never used one. But my crunchy coworker does and just got "talked to" by her pedi about it being unsafe.
Also, @this, one of the most adorable babies I know is named Wren. I didn't make the crunchy connection until now, but her parents are TOTAL hippies. lol
We went over to a baby's home where mom said "oh he has a runny nose because he's teething." Said baby was also wearing an amber necklace and still drooling like crazy.
DD came home and had a runny nose the next day. Teething is not contagious. He had a runny nose because he was sick but mom wasn't about to hear any of that. Side eye to the amber necklace.
While we're on the subject of teething, I also would not use those all-natural teething tablets because I don't think they are tested for amounts of active ingredients they way medicines are.
I agree. Around when DS2 was an infant, those Hylands tablets were recalled by the FDA (I think for too much/inconsistent amounts of belladonna?). I know they have supposedly addressed the issue, but I am still kind of sketched out by them. I would much prefer to stick with Tylenol and Ibuprofen--you know, actual, regulated medicine.
A kid in my Preschool class wore one. This thread seems like a good place to admit anytime he fell I'd think in my head "Rub your necklace on it and get up!" Like... put some Windex on it for the crunchy crowd.

DS has worn one since 3 months old. I always leave it on. He doesn't play with it or touch it. I got him a new one a few months ago that was a little bigger. I can't say for sure whether it works, but in comparison to stories I hear of other teething kids... he is doing great. We didn't even notice he was getting his canines until we saw it pretty far through. From what I have heard, those are awful.
I saw a random other person at Gymboree the other day who had one on her son too and she said the same thing.
So, whether it works or not, I am not taking it off to find out. I am happy with how it is going. I do think it is cute too.

LOL, those are Chewbeads. You are totally mixing up your crunchiness.
Are Chewbeads crunchy? I guess I thought they just sounded smart!
