Out of curiosity... where do you land on the playdate spectrum?
(I omitted the questions that don't have easily click-able options.)

We have pretty much every alcohol you can think of, and it's not locked up. Plus my H brews his own beer. It's going to be a challenge when our kids are in high school, lol.

I probably fail because we own a gun. I target shoot, the gun is secured, and we don't even keep ammo in the house. But I know how some people feel about guns.

I think I pass everything else.

ETA: do I get bonus points for being certified in neonatal and pediatric life support/cpr? That should make up for the gun thing.

We are fully vaccinated, have 2 locked up guns (likely fails me for many of you) don't lock our alcohol (kept out of reach, though), are breezy about tv (but keep it kid appropriate), and would have a glass of wine or beer after kids are asleep.

One thing that's not on the list that concerns me is cleaning supplies and medications. I have a big fear of my kids getting into a Tide pod or a bottle of medication or something. Ours is all kept up high where even I need a footstool to reach it.

Once our kids are older, I will probably add a feature to our security system that texts you anytime a particular cabinet is opened to monitor alcohol and medication access.

my alcohol is not locked up (but is out of reach) and sometimes I watch adult TV (Ellen, Today show, etc) while DS is around. I limit the amount of TV in a day though, whether it is children's programs or not.

eta - Also fully vaccinated, no smoking (cigs or pot), we do have a secured gun, meds and cleaning products are secured, I would not drink on a playdate.

Fully vaccinated, no guns, no specific restrictions on TV-watching (we would stick with kid-friendly stuff but it's not a hard-and-fast rule), we don't smoke, and our alcohol is not locked up. I might have a drink during a playdate.

The only thing I fail as is the alcohol. We don't drink much but I don't see an issue having a glass of wine or a beer while the kids are around. If it bothered another parent we wouldn't do it.

You need to add an option for unsecured alcohol, but no boozy play dates.

And I didn't consider that list a test. Some of these things won't be that important for some people. And other things (pools, dogs) may come into play as well.

I knew I'd forget something!

And ITA. I don't really consider it a test, either - and I am like many others and consider a beer shared between parents during a play date a bonus. To each their own. Mostly just wondering how many on the board don't fit the "perfect" picture the list was sort of getting at. And yes, pets and pools matter much more to me than whether or not they'll watch Frozen. I almost added them even though they weren't on the original list.

We rate pretty well. No guns, no drugs, no smoking, fully vaxxed. We'll let visiting teens watch all the tv and play video games they want, but we don't *plan* to have violent games in the house or let them watch age inappropriate movies.
The alcohol isn't locked up, but we definitely won't be giving it out.
We aren't going to let our kids have unsupervised parties.

Fully vaccinated non-smoking household, no guns, but our (meager) alcohol supply is not locked up, and I absolutely would have a drink. But it would probably be one drink, and only if it were a social playdate for the parents, too. Like tambcat, I feel like it would be kind of weird to sit there drinking by yourself while the kids play - but a few moms and dads enjoying a drink while the kids tumble around? No problem.

I wouldn't immediately exclude anyone who had a gun in their house, especially if they told me how it was secured.  Honestly, at the ages of my oldest 2 kids, I want to rely very heavily on THEIR knowledge and instincts around guns instead of trying to keep them away from all guns, always.  We have frequent discussions about what to do if you see a gun, even if you're not sure it's real.

I wouldn't drink alone if someone dropped their child off at my house. But we had another couple over for playdate and had a couple of beers. Do people really ask if anyone in the house smokes marijuana? What a weird question. Who's going to toke with a bunch of kids in the house? Should I be hiding the vodka from other parents' view when they come over? With teens I will absolutely not have any "unsecured" alcohol. But I don't know if that matters for having company since they generally steal it from clueless parents and take it elsewhere.

Are secured guns an automatic out? My son plays with 3 boys often at preschool and all of their fathers are cops.

My kids are vaccinated.

DH does own 2 hunting rifles but they have trigger locks and are locked in a gun safe which is in a locked closet and the keys to access them are stored in different locations, ammunition is also stored and locked in a different location. It might be over the top, but it is the only way I would let DH bring them in our house.

We watch tv, but only kids shows when the kids around.

We don't smoke.

Alcohol is not locked, but it is up out of reach of children, maybe once they get older we might put locks on the cabinet. I wouldn't get drunk at a daytime playdate but a glass of wine while the kids play is ok by me.

I think I would pass: fully vaccinated, non-smoking household with no guns. Alcohol is not locked up, but is not reachable. We do watch kid friendly TV, but not during the playdate -- I want them to play dn tire each other out! I'm unlikely to drink unless I know the parent super well.
