This is H's job. I know it is rarely done. Like, once a month/once every other month? And I have two bigger dogs (60lbs range). I am a little embarrassed by this answer with all the "once a week" answers. I'm too lazy for that shit.
Um, no. Even when it isn't 0 degree out we do "poop patrol" once a week before we mow the lawn in the yard.
We don't have to worry about the rabbit poops because they are a delicacy for our two and they try to eat them.
ETA: Thh first poop patrol after the spring thaw is massive. DH and I are amazed at how much our two poop and then we think that for 3 months it isn't actually that bad.
And we never pick up the poops behind this one low stone wall. We call that area Poopville and leave them where they lay.

Plus 1. It's DHs job and he is lazy with it. I do everything else around here so this is the hill I've chosen to die on.
ETA there's like 3 feet of snow on top of it now so....that's not happening.
I haven't picked up poop since we started getting snow in November. And we have 3 dogs. During winter, I give up. In the summer I go out about once a week and pick it all up.
We only pick up once a week on trash day. I really don't want a bag of dog shit sitting in my trashcans in my garage, so we wait until then. We have a small yard too, but it's not so bad, especially in the winter. Sometimes in the summer sun and heat, it gets a little ripe out there.
I never pick up poop in my yard. Dh might do it when he does yard work but I don't ask what he does back there because I don't want to help. Your neighbors are crazy.
We never pick it up and we have 2 big dogs. Our backyard is super green even right now so it much be fine. It gets mowed over but that just spreads it out even more. Free grass fertilizer.
That is ludicrous. But my dog is 5pounds. I let him poop outside alone (fenced yard) and I couldn't find his poop if I tried anyway. I might be more vigilant if I had a big dog pooping in my yard bc it does tend to stick around (my parents' neighbors let their dog poop in my parents' yard and holy cow that stuff sticks around) but I certainly wouldn't do it every time .

That's crazy. It's your yard!! Not having to follow your dog around is the biggest benefit to having a yard. Before the girls could walk we NEVER picked up the poop in the yard and we have 2 big dogs. Now I run around with a scooper before we go out there to play, which is still only once every few weeks, now since it's cold out.
I rarely do. I doubt it's been done since lawn mowing season, which would be Sept/October? I'm really lazy about it, but my yard is basically a bathroom for my dogs. It's not used for anything else so I don't really care.

I take our dog out on a leash because we don't have a fence and she's not recall-safe, but we pick up after her maaaaaaybe every 3 weeks? It's a hazard if you're walking in our yard, but we know to watch for poop and anyone else is trespassing so if they get poop on their shoe, not my problem. I occasionally will smell poop when I'm outside with her, but only if it's really damp outside. During the summer it cooks into hard pellets so fast you'd think we were making poop-shaped bricks.
ETA: They sound crazy. Is this their only crazy or does it manifest in other ways, as well?
My yard has 18 inches of snow, so the poop is hidden until it all melts. It usually marinates in the yard for a few weeks anyway....
She goes in one general area. It doesn't seem to affect the grass much, but what's odd is that her pee spots actually grow in darker green than the surrounding grass.

DH does the grassy area before people come over or if we are out in the yard. The dog doesn't go there too often. She likes to go hide in the bamboo to do her thing. For as big as she is, she gets herself into some tight spots- people don't fit.
Neighbors are nuts. Is there anything your/landlord can do about the harassment from a legal side?

I have 2 dogs, and grew up with dogs. I have never picked up poop from my own backyard. it disintegrates, especially in the summer when we're mowing twice a week. this may change once my kid is playing out there.
However, with a fence that the neighbors can see through, I'd be shamed into picking it up once a day or so.
There's only one side of the house they can see - and only one dog poops on that side sometimes. It's not like they can even see my whole yard, just two pieces of poop on average.
I think I'd put up a bamboo fence or something on MY side of the fence just so they couldn't see into my yard.
Sounds like moving is going to be THAT MUCH BETTER!!
Yes, sort of. We would go out every night or first thing in the morning and pick it up all up. However, once the twins were walking, one of us would go out their with her and pick up after she was done. I didn't want to deal with toddler shoe covered in dog poo.
I live in a townhome with shared lawn space, and my neighbors don't even follow their dogs around and leave poop out in 'their' yard. When we moved in, our yard was covered in their dogs poo. We called the HOA to have them come pick it up, but that was the only time, and their yard is still covered. Whateva, I don't ever go into their yard and its not worth my time to keep calling if its not in my space. They have also recently picked up the habit of coming outside at 11 pm to have blowout fights right under my bedroom, lol. I hope they move soon.
