No way, never in the winter, but before the first mow of the year, and then once a week/before my H mows the grass. Dumb. People need to mind their own damn business.

Nope. In the summer we do it daily so the kids can play back there without stepping in it, but in the winter when it's freaking freezing outside? Nope. Poopsicles all over the yard!
My husband will in the early morning, but that's so he knows our puppy did it outside rather than finding a pile inside.
Other than that we will grab them when we mow the lawn.
Also...grossness ahead, you've been warned....
our pug likes to eat it. Thank GOD she doesn't lick us.
LOL!
Earlier this week, I couldn't find the dog and when I called, he came upstairs and looked rather guilty. There's not a lot he can do downstairs, so I pretty much blew it off. The next day, I went downstairs to scoop the kitty litter only to discover that the trash can where I throw the clumps and poop had been knocked over and all the almond roca eaten out of the trashcan.
Our dog usually poops off property during a run and rarely in the yard. If he does go in the yard, he is trained to go in the far corner of and I pick it up the same day. I'm confused at the posters who say they never pick up the poop. Do you not use your yard? Do the kids (if you have them) never play back there? Doesn't it ruin your grass? So many questions!!
Edit: I do agree, it is your yard and you don't owe them anything in regards to picking up your dog's poop. They need to relax for sure.
They have no cause of action here, I cannot even fathom what they would sue for. They are idiots.
No, but animal control has to come out every time they're called. It's a waste of resources, at minimum.
They are harassing you and your landlord. If I were the landlord my attorney would be sending them a very strongly worded letter and I would also cc: animal control.
Oh and FWIW, we pick up the poop 1x per week from our yard. (unless my son is out there playing) I have a large dog and well, the piles can get big. I live next door to my landlord and it is never an issue.
We just pick up once a week before mowing the lawn (spring-fall). In the winter, we never pick up... way too cold.
This is what we do as well. Other then DH picked up about 2/3 of the yard last weekend, but only because it was warmer outside. And he only did what he did because that's were the snow was melted.

My mom and dad's puppy ate his poop for a while before they realized. They gave him a vitamin for a bit that was specifically for this issue and he stopped. So there is hope!
I live in a townhome with shared lawn space, and my neighbors don't even follow their dogs around and leave poop out in 'their' yard. When we moved in, our yard was covered in their dogs poo. We called the HOA to have them come pick it up, but that was the only time, and their yard is still covered. Whateva, I don't ever go into their yard and its not worth my time to keep calling if its not in my space. They have also recently picked up the habit of coming outside at 11 pm to have blowout fights right under my bedroom, lol. I hope they move soon.
I had the same situation in our last house- townhouse with shared lawn. The neighbors had a Great Dane that took shits the size of a small dog, and they never cleaned up after him. In the FL summertime, I couldn't even stand to be in the front yard because of the smell.
I did call the HOA once the dog started creeping on our side and they still weren't picking it up.
Your neighbors are nuts with the threats, but I personally would be picking it up daily or every other day. We use our yard and I wouldn't want to be worrying about dodging shit constantly.

Exactly. The other day I considered going out and picking up what I could see on top of the snow. Then that night it snowed again. "Walla", it was gone again. Perfect. Until the snow melts.
We do in the summer. Great Dane+hot weather=fucking nasty. We don't in the winter and just do a big clean up in the spring. Your neighbor is being ridiculous.
We never pick up poop. And I've never felt shame for not (granted, I live in the country and my neighbors aren't close). The only time I've ever thought "huh, should probably pick that up" was when she left a massive poop on the pristine white snow in the front yard. LOL.
