jfh This is a really difficult topic. I only faced it once C1 was in preschool and they would have snacks with meat and her snack would be meatless. She kind of asked me in a sad way why all the other kids had the same snack and she didn't. I, much like you, said that we don't eat meat because we love animals as our friends and so we would rather not eat them. Some people love animals and choose to eat them, but we don't. Whenever she brought it up (infrequently) I just stuck with that.
I can say for certain now, she does not judge her friends/family that do eat meat at all. She'll say "yeah A brought a lunchable with meat in it, maybe I can get one sometime with no meat? Because I'm a vegetarian and she isn't." She doesn't think negatively about people that eat meat. We just tell her it's their family's choice to eat it, and ours not to.
I don't think this is something that, if you aren't a vegetarian and don't feel really strongly about that choice, you can easily relate to or understand from this side of the meat/no meat conversation.
I wasn't trying to relate to this as the vegetarian, rather as the child who'd be labled as an animal hater. Please process that.
Do you understand what a massive undertaking it is to process your musings?
Before this became a "your kid thinks my kid hates animals" debate, I was going to comment that I'm finding this to be an even more difficult conversation with my own kid than the religion one. Both topics have come up, but since I'm vegetarian and my husband isn't, it'll be interesting to explain this to her in a way that she can understand. Like jfh, I'm looking for ways to do this that do not involve judgement, but do involve some level of age appropriate explanation.
Enough with this talk about meat. Back to my discussion on pants!!!
Thank you all for the pictorials. But someone said yoga pants have fold over waist bands. Number1, those are annoying. Number2, any pants I have bought that call themselves yoga pants don't have the fold over (or at least you don't have to).
I think I usually end up wearing my work out shirts with my yoga pants a lot and then feel frumpy. Maybe I need to wear less work outy shirts?
I saw a girl grocery shopping today who I know breastfeeds and has a 4 week old. I was perplexed how she could just wily nily leave the house without the baby and without leaving her MIL with bm. I would be so stressed about having to rush back. And she's a FTM So I was impressed that she was cool with getting out alone and not stressed. I need to be less stressed.
(I know all these details because she's a former colleague and we stopped to chat and now she wants to be my bff)

I have a confession...I've never quite understood all of the pg paranoia/frequent or monthly peeing on sticks. I've made it 34 years and only ever got pregnant intentionally. I have a basic understanding of biology and how my body works...if I don't want to get pg, I take measures to avoid it. Confession part two: DH and I had a mishap the other night...10 days after my lmp. We normally use condoms but didn't. We decided to just do PNP.....except he didn't pull. So now we pray.
We are not TTC and are very happy with 2 kids. We're done, shop's closed. Why at 34 years of age am I now being sexually irresponsible?

Sounds like you may get a taste of pregnancy paranoia in a couple of weeks .
I am not comfortable going out on public in sweats unless there is a gym trip involved, but I have been living in sweats since G was born. I'm like Regina George right now because they're all that fits. My pregnancy jeans are uncomfortable because the spot where the denim ends and the belly panel begins is right on top of my incision.
That's exactly why I wore yoga pants/ sweats after my CS for a long time. Even when my normal jeans fit again, it hurt the incision and I couldn't wear them for long.
I don't know I feel like vegetarians generally DO love animals a little more than meat eaters. Like I actually do think it's kind of bad to eat animals but I do it anyway. I went veggie for a summer and gained 5 pounds bc I really had to eat more carbs to feel full (and I can't really eat beans bc gas). Dh also had a come to Jesus talk with me bc not eating meat was causing him to feel sad and depressed. So we went back to meat (and btw we do eat organic meat when we can and only a few times a week do we even eat it). But I did come to the conclusion that I basically care more about keeping dh happy and about being 5 lb thinner than I do about animals. so you know I feel like vegetarians have a right to say they love animals more. Although I do get the not judging other kids thing for sure.
@lindy since you had mentioned liking the name Calvin, some other names I had on the list for him were Grant, Hudson, Everett, Elliot, Oliver, Bennett.
I really love Oliver but my DHs cousin just had a baby and named him that. I don't care if they had the same name, I just don't feel like dealing with all the negative comments and gossip about it.

Boo! Same thing for us. My friend's son is Oliver, so I nixed it.

Truth. I've got nobody to blame but my husband. Lol.
@lindy Jackson is ranked 3 for most popular name used in CO in 2013 (SS doesn't have 2014 up), 267 babies. Henry and Jack aren't even on the list.
Oh definitely want just Jack. I didn't make that clear. I just wanted to make sure all the Jacksons out there weren't running around with the nn Jack lol.

Ahh gotcha! I'd say less than 10% go by Jack. The rest are spelled Jaxson/Jaxon and they would use Jax as a nn.

We get asked a lot if Jack is his real name or he's Jackson. People are usually surprised when we say he's just Jack.
@lindy FWIW my Jackson is only called Jackson. I know he's two, but we didn't want him to go by Jack until he could decide that's what he wanted. Family used to try and call him Jack and we would always correct them. If I wanted him to be called Jack I would have named him that, lol.

I dislike nicknames for my kids and people are always asking what they "go by" Im like... William and matilda... Ha
One person we know insists on calling her Tilly. Seems weird to me to do that. I mean I never correct the person because I don't really care but it just seems like a weird thing to do
Although, matilda calls William Williamy and now sometimes we do too aaah!! Lol. It's like the opposite of a nickname
We call Annabelle Annabelly a lot, I like it bc she has such a glorious belly! At daycare they call her Annie, I don't correct them, but she will never be Annie to me.

Tilly is super cute, but if her name is Matilda, and you call her that, that's her name. Rude.
Everyone always told me they were going to call Adeline "Adie". But only my mom has and only a few times. The same mom who spells her name incorrectly on EVERY card.
